Nebraska a “trap game” for UM

https://gbmwolverine.com/2023/07/07/3-potential-trap-games-michigan-football-2023/

Makes sense as they will be favored by more than 2 TDs and it will be their first roadie and actual team that isn’t a cupcake at least talent wise.

At the moment it’s difficult to think we could match up on the lines over the span of an entire game.

Baseball Brice Matthews, Max Anderson selected in 2023 MLB Draft

Brice Matthews is officially a pro. He goes No. 28 overall to the Astros as he goes to his hometown team. He's the seventh first rounder in Nebraska baseball history and the highest drafted Husker since Alex Gordon in 2005.

Baseball Jace Kaminska selected by Rockies at No. 292 overall in 10th round of MLB Draft

The Nebraska baseball team saw its fourth player picked in this year's MLB draft with the selection of Jace Kaminska late into Day 2 of the draft. Kaminska landed with the Colorado Rockies at No. 292 overall in the 10th and final round of the day. It's mission accomplished for Kaminska who transferred to Nebraska hoping to leverage his time in Lincoln with a chance at the pros.

Kaminska marks the fourth Husker to be selected in the last two days following Brice Matthews at No. 28, Max Anderson at No. 45 and Emmett Olson at No. 110. It's the first time since 2015 that the Huskers have had four players picked. It marks the fourth time in school history that four players have been drafted inside the top ten rounds joining 2005, 2001 and 1985.

Are Conferences necessary anymore?

People bitching about how shitty the B10 is with the old boy network. Forgot about Texass in the B12, and of course, plenty of bagman shit to complain about in the SEC. The NCAA is at large has less and less control. My complaints about ways that college football has been and will be ruined have gotten more in-depth since November 2001, and I'm sure many others have a sliding scale of complaints that matches up with a similar timeline.

Is ridding FBS of conferences one fix, or a Pandora's Box of new issues? If it's even feasible, Is there a TV contract negotiation strategy for conference-less football? Could that be done? If so, post your ideas below.

Baseball Emmett Olson picked No. 110 overall by the Miami Marlins in 4th round of MLB Draft

Husker ace Emmett Olson became the third Nebraska player taken in the MLB Draft Monday afternoon when he was selected No. 110 overall by the Miami Marlins. The slot value for Olson's pick is $609,600.

This marks the second time in school history that Nebraska has had three players all picked within the first five rounds. The first time was in 2005 with Alex Gordon (No. 2 overall), Brian Duensing (3rd round) and Zack Kroenke (5th round).

Brice Matthews was picked No. 28 overall last night by the Astros in the 1st round while Max Anderson was picked up by the Detroit Tigers No. 45 overall in the second round. First time in Nebraska history that players have been taken in the first, second and fourth round in the same draft.

This is just putrid. OTOH, I saw improvement in the line toward the end of last season. Don't know enough if the line's problems were bad coaching, scheme or both. Guessing both.

"There were all kinds of indicators that the unit wasn’t pulling its own weight in 2022. However, there is one stat above all others that indicate why the Huskers offense simply wasn’t effective enough to win more games.

"The Twitter account @Statsowar recently posted a graphic that drastically underlined a big problem the Nebraska football offensive line faced last year at the very least. That statistic is “yards before contact per rush.”

"It shouldn’t be hard to realize why the statistic is important. When the Nebraska football team ran the ball, they usually had a problem finding a hole.

"According to the graphic, the Cornhuskers managed just 1.76 yards per rush before contact. That sounds bad on its own. It means the Nebraska football team was 57th among 69 Power 5 programs in the country."

Nebraska track and field thrower Maddie Harris won the national javelin title at the USATF Outdoor Championships on Thursday night in Eugene, Ore.

Harris had a career-best throw of 199-3 (60.73m) to capture the national gold medal. She edged former Husker and current volunteer coach Maggie Malone, who threw 192-10 (58.79m). Harris' throw is a Nebraska school record and the No. 6 collegiate all-time mark.

Harris is a two-time Big Ten javelin champion and two-time All-American for the Huskers. She finished fourth place at this year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Four more Huskers will compete this week in Eugene. Jenna Rogers will take part in the women's high jump at 8:40 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday, Mayson Conner will compete in the men's high jump at 7:05 p.m., and Maxwell Otterdahl and Jonah Wilson will participate in the men's shot put at 8:15 p.m.

MLB fans - how is your team looking at the All-Star break?

Braves fans are enjoying what have to be the golden years for this franchise ... lineup is pretty stacked 1-9, with depth, and the starting rotation isn't close to healthy yet. Keep chugging along and try to do something silly with 110 wins & go for another WS crown has to be the goal at this point.
