Does it all really matter?

We’ve become a basketball and volleyball school now. Football, what’s football?

I say this in jest, but I truly wonder if this program will ever be “respectful” again. A bowl game is nice. But is that what we’ve become and will be going forward… just a program/fan base hoping we make a bowl game.

The TW news doesn’t even surprise me nor does it piss me off. That’s where I’m at with the football program.

Football Gabe Ervin enters the transfer portal

Can confirm Gabe Ervin has entered the transfer portal as a grad transfer. He rushed for 455 yards and five touchdowns across four seasons at Nebraska. Dealt with a brutal injury last season that limited him this season and got buried a bit behind Emmett Johnson, Dante Dowdell and Rahmir Johnson. With two freshmen backs joining the program, this is an understandable decision for him to maximize his opportunities.

I made some calls into some contacts in Lincoln this morning to hopefully find out what is going on with our OC situation. I'm hearing Dana will sign a contract (I'm hearing 2 years) to be the OC at Nebraska as early as next week. Modest salary for Dana (not in it for the money obviously and being paid a bag by Houston currently) I heard a few more details that I won't share because of the sensitivity of it, but all positive things for the Husker program and the fanbase. Unfortunate for a few individuals/families.

Rhule is the man for the job. Rhule knows retaining key players is key and Dana is the spark and lynch pin for that - the same way retaining Tony White helped key players come back for another year in 2024.

I didn't get any of my info from any other message board nor do I know if anything has even been discussed elsewhere (I belong to 3-5 different boards but only log in and view this one based on 20+ years of familiarity). I made 4 calls into Lincoln this morning to people that are in meetings, donate money, etc. and cross checked what I was hearing with multiple key sources.

Take it for what it's worth, but figured we all could use some positive Thanksgiving Day talking points over dinner going into the Iowa game.

Rhule is such a good coach ...

Took this rag tag group of like 20 D1 level players to a bowl game, beat Colorado and Wisconsin, and had USC and Ohio State (with FAR more talented situations) down to the ropes except for 2 OBVIOUS missed PI's.

Fixed our offense before the season could unravel and brought in the best OC we've had since Dr. Tom

Tony White's defense was bend not break this year, but they showed against Iowa what they can still do when healthy.

Sprinkle on a top 12 recruiting class, go add 5 or 7 of the top 20 transfer portal guys, and let's ride for Year 3 ...

Frost left the cupboard literally & truly BARREN ... this is a 4-5 year rebuild and by Dylan's Junior year NOBODY will want to play the Huskers.

You know what's going to happen?

There will be a number of players leave the program, just like every year. Most of them are players who won't get any appreciable playing time. There might be a few who would contribute leave, but that happens every year too. You just have to remember, we have impeccable facilities, great fans and support, top end NIL, and a reasonably safe environment for kids to go to school and play football. Regardless of the record, there aren't that many places that are better.

Coaches will come and go and we'll find good replacements. We have the money. Frankly, I think we need to go NFL DC level and get someone in here who is really good with Xs and Os, an older coach with a track record. Recruits and transfers will come play for that. We also need to hit the portal hard. We've been bagging on Prime for 2 years, but Jesus, he did take a team who was 1-11 the year before he came and made them 9-3 in year 2.

I'm Proud of Our Developmental Program

Huge congrats to Coaches White and Knighton on the next step in their careers. This is why you come to Nebraska.

Wins and inexplicably terrible chokejob losses come and go, but let's not lose sight of what matters most:

Here's hoping we all can take a page from Preacher Rhule's comically bloated playbook and learn to love ourselves this Christmas Season

Football "WHAT THE F*** MAN?" Postgame analysis of Iowa 13, Nebraska 10. Again.

Almost too believable to be believable.

Iowa 13. Nebraska 10. Again.

Moments after the 53-yard bullet off the leg of Iowa kicker Drew Stevens went through the uprights – sparking a fireworks show and a team-wide sprint from the Nebraska 40-yard line all the way down to the opposite end zone – someone working for the Iowa events staff said in the press box: “Just like we drew it up, right?” with an aww-shucks laugh.

Just like Kirk Ferentz drew it up in his contract with the Devil, perhaps.

Annnnnd with that, let's get to some Snap Judgments. Inside Nebraska's instant analysis and postgame reaction to one of the all-time "What the f*** man?" Husker games:

Homers Explode!!

Matt Kenneth Rhule, You homers need to get real. He is a loser and has a loser culture. Next year? Anyone who knows jack-shit about football can understand that he is an idiot and a shitty coach. Keep spewing your kool-aide bullcrap. Man up and admit he was a crappy hire amd next year he will be lucky to be .500. I expect more out of you "football pros". Dude will be canned after 1 maybe 2 years.
Blows a lead when the D gives up 5 first downs and you are talking about next year? Are you ever going to learn? The fans and everyone else is getting what they deserve! Hire a .500 coach and you get .450 what a deal! And Dana was the man ( and I actually like him) after 5-7 Wisconsin? 10 points against Iowa? Still the man? I can't believe so many clowns are starved for a turnaround that they will buy into this shit.
I maybe drunk, but I 'm not stupid. Have at it, homers. We deseve better than this pussy-crap that you see on the field. And the biggest disappointment is Raiola, but you clowns keep making excuses and whatever because he is a Freshman. Respond with your pussy-jaded anthologies. 75 percent on this board will learn the hard way (like they always do) Give Kong shit or whatever. At least he tells it like it is. Minus his stupid "win" againt Iowa call. Even Kong is jaded from time to time. But he isn't stupid and understands that the puffy-lipped slob is a loser and will never win shit here. Save this post and all of you "Husker tough guys" can discuss it with me in 1-2 years.
