Thought I'd do the board a solid and post his stats. His senior year wasn't as impressive stats wise as his junior year, which was very good, but it wasn't bad, either. His career stats are still impressive and I hope he sticks with NU. History is full of dudes coming in and beating out the higher rated guy.
Kirk Cousins outplayed RG3
Brock Purdy beating out the NDSU kid (I realize they were one draft class apart)
Zac Taylor beating out Harrison Beck
Not a QB, but Abdullah and Helu were both afterthoughts to the fanbase in their classes.
Anyway, without further ado:
JR: 63.6% 290 yds/g 36TD 7 Int 115.4 QBR
SR: 58.6% 203 yds/g 17TD 6 Int 89.9 QBR
TTL: 61.0% 6163 yds. 58 TD 13 Int 103.0 QBR
Pretty good stats. He takes care of the ball. Yards are decent. Need to get his completion percentage up. TD/g is not great. Either way, I think the talent is there, but probably needs a few seasons to continue to refine his game. And lastly, I'm not sure why the drop in productivity this year. I know his two stud wide receivers were injured for a lot of the year and his OL was a sieve. Maybe some local NE Prep football people know more of that story.
