Mickey can’t even get an interview? Seems troubling given the other candidates Trev struck out with. Scott Frost got 5 years and Mickey gets 8 games and he doesn’t even get an interview. It might be time for the NCAA to implement this rule.

I am not an insider, but no one on this board is either so why act like you are. No one knows who what or where Trev is with the search. The only thing we do know is the coaches that signed extensions are not candidate. Pertaining to Matt Rhule being on campus and not accepting the job because of salary or assistant coaches salary pool is nuts. Would anyone travel to campus without all the big facts being finalized, salary , assistant pool, length of contract and buy out. If the agent let the coach do that he should be fired. Plus if a coach did that he wouldn’t have common sense and we wouldn’t want him. Plus the comment about Fickle this late in the game in also nuts. This late in the game Trev has his coach. At least knowing how he operates, very detailed and no loose ends. I am not sure who it is, Rhule, Mickey, O’Brien or someone else. We should know in a few days to a week. So this note is from a non insider. Just like the rest of you and that includes the guys that get paid to get information . I know nothing. Have a happy thanksgiving, cheer on the Big Red and get ready, without bull shit comments to welcome the new coach whom ever it is.

You get a local “winner” that can do that, you need him on your team.

1) success in a P5 division
2) has shown he can beat teams like Oklahoma and develop a line that controls the LOS
3) he did it with Husker players, which is the most compelling factor

obviously, if Urban is available you pull that trigger (spare me the sanctimony), but as far as i'm concerned, Klieman brings more to the table than Campbell or Leipold in terms of tangible results and evidence of a quick rebuild into a tough team.

When he took Penn States job he kept Larry Johnson and Ron Vanderlinden on as assistant coaches from the previous staff. Not saying he is getting the job but if he did I could see him keeping a couple of guys like Joseph and Busch.

So how many coaches have been able to link their name with Nebraska and get some bigger checks? Will anyone else get a new deal the same way before the Huskers announce?

If he is the guy I’d like to know why so many are against it. Very successful at BYU (it does seem like most are). Took over a Virginia team that lacked success and won 9 games in 2019. Looks like things went down hill during Covid. Could be he lost the team and could still be a good coach fit at Nebraska?

Some people are driving themselves into a frenzy. I’m looking forward to this search being done.

Another insightful Mickey Joseph press conference as he spoke about laying the program's foundation and said he still has not talked with Trev Alberts or any Nebraska administrators about his future with the Huskers.

And Casey Thompson was also insightful, giving some background about his non-football future and discussing some of the things he has seen that have prevented Nebraska from getting over the hump:

I think it is safe to say that Trev has done a great job (maybe) of not letting info get out. So when do you think we get that first leak (and will it be an intentional leak by the school? and who will it be about?)

I think we hear something on Thursday, I think it comes from a local writer and I think it will be about Luke F.

The biggest question is will all these annoying trolls leave after the coach if finally hired?

indicate that some coaching decisions likely have now been finalized by the big boys to fill their head coaching vacancies. The guys signing extensions leveraged those openings to get more money but their agents realize that leverage is drying up as things get finalized and announced. So strike while you can.

Trev Alberts is set for his monthly appearance on "Sports Nightly" via the Huskers Radio Network about 90 minutes from now (6:05 p.m. CT). Seems like a relevant and interesting thing people might want to listen to. Will have a story out updating the most relevant information on the coaching search after he talks.
