Baseball BSB FINAL: Nebraska 4, North Dakota State 1

Nebraska dips back into non-conference play tonight as North Dakota State (5-18) comes to Hawks Field to take on the Huskers (13-8-1). Nebraska is coming off a series over the weekend gainst Illinois, but lost in the series finale as its Sunday woes continued on the mound.

Interesting game today between the Huskers and Bison. NDSU was projected by some to win the Summit League coming into 2023, but a rough time in their early season non-conference slate has them at 5-18 for the season. The Bison's biggest strength is their weekend pitching, but Nebraska will get a true freshman on the mound for NDSU.

For the Huskers, they'll look to get some productive innings from two-way threat Will Walsh who gets the start on the mound. He dazzled last week against Creighton where he pitched six innings of relief allowing two runs on three hits. However, he retired the 17 of the first 18 Bluejays hitters he faced.

Lastly, with a win tonight, Nebraska would clinch its 400th win at Hawks Field. Here's the series preview to get you set:

Football Donovan Raiola's return has Husker O-line ready to take next step

“Coach has been putting people in different spots. It’s not to make you feel uncomfortable, but to put you in uncomfortable situations,” Turner Corcoran said.

The Husker O-linemen clearly have Donovan Raiola's back. That group will play hard for their O-line coach. Here's more:

Basketball Colorado State transfer and Omaha native John Tonje lands at SEC program

Omaha Central product John Tonje has committed to Missouri out of the transfer portal, per his Instagram.

Tonje is a 6-foot-5 guard who spent the past four seasons at Colorado State. I don't have any info on if Nebraska was a contender here, just thought I'd put it on the board.

Tonje averaged 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists this past season. He shot 38.9% on 4.8 3s per game and was an 81.5% free-throw shooter:

Football Notes & Observations from Tuesday's open practice (UPDATED at 12 p.m.)

We got another 40-minute open practice window this morning for the Huskers' fifth spring practice. Here are some notes and observations from @Steve Marik, @GeoffExstrom and myself:

Updates (12pm):
>>> Added that Jalil Martin and AJ Rollins were in gray jerseys today because those jerseys signify a player who is practicing on both sides of the ball. Martin is now spending time practicing at DB and WR while Rollins is spending time working at TE and DL (which is why he was in that personnel group with the defense that's mentioned in my observations).

>>> Speaking of those personnel groupings, I asked Matt Rhule for clarity on how the defensive groups were organized. He confirmed that they are not yet separated into 1s, 2s and 3s: "They’re just doing circuits, defensive circuits. ... When we rotate it, we have what we call A, B and C, but those change."

OT - Home Equity Lines

I was thinking about setting up a home equity line on my house in case of emergencies. I owe very little on my house and just recently completed a a home remodel that used about $60k from my savings. I know rates are garbage and I don't plan on using the HELOC, but has anyone had a good experience recently working with an Omaha bank setting up a HELOC? I think I'll sleep better at night after watching the news all day having a HELOC in place. TIA

Peak at ourlads.com for fact or fiction-3/26

The free board is for the bored with this update. If you want conversation about facts, this might not qualify. But it is something to ponder. Nothing earth shattering but Bonner not on the WR depth chart is surprising, if true. The defense front three and linebacker corps has some transfers showing. Either way, this is after four practices with eleven to go.
