Baseball Live Thread BSB FINAL: Nebraska 12, Texas A&M-CC 1

An odd weekend for the Nebraska baseball team this weekend as the Huskers (14-8-1) take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (13-14) in the first of two games this afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field on the campus of Abilene Christian. The Huskers will face the host school in game two that begins 45 minutes after this game between NU and the Islanders. Corpus Christi is looking to rebound after a 9-7 loss to Abilene Christian last night. The Islanders got out to a quick 5-1 lead in the third, but gave up six unanswered runs as the Wildcats closed out the victory. With four pitchers (three relievers) used last night for Corpus Christi, the bullpen will still be in relatively good shape, but not as good as Nebraska's.

Nebraska is coming off a 4-1 victory over North Dakota State Tuesday night as Will Walsh tossed seven innings of two-hit ball and Brice Matthews hit a three-run bomb to lift the Huskers to victory. They'll have a good shot on taking both today with co-aces Emmett Olson and Jace Kaminska both on the bump.

For game one, it's going to be LHP Emmett Olson (4-1, 3.68 ERA, 36.2 IP) vs. RHP Collin Purcell (2-1, 3.50 ERA, 36.0 IP). Here's the full series preview:

Football Ball security, "consistency" will define this slow-burn Nebraska QB battle

The Huskers' QB battle will be defined by two simple things: ball security and consistency. That race has remained, and will remain, a slow burn as Jeff Sims looks for that "consistency" and Casey Thompson continues his off-field grind in the film room.
