Doesn't it make sense now to make some changes on eligibility?

Now that there's NIL money and the players can probably get paid more than 99% of them would get from the NFL before they are 22 years old:

1. Allow any player in any sport to turn pro right out of HS.
2. Any player who signs a FBS LOI and begins school has to stay for 4 seasons after HS. Clearly it would be less for JUCO players.
3. Any player cut from a sport (unless for misconduct) who received a scholarship gets to keep it and just be a student until graduation without the scholarship counting against the limit.
4. 25 limit per year for teams finishing in the Top 10 (CFP ratings) in football. For everyone else, no limit per year.
5. Stay with the 85 limit for football. After cuts, you'll probably have 130 on campus on scholarship, but only 85 would be able to play.
6. Hard 5 years eligibility for all athletes.

Softball Huskers shut out Lamar in second consecutive day

The Nebraska softball team blanked Lamar for the second straight day and opened up Day 2 of the Houston Invitational with a 7-0 victory over the Cardinals. Sarah Harness put up a masterful performance in the circle by tossing her first career shutout while striking out 11 batters in six innings. Lamar managed only one hit which came in the very first at-bat for the Cardinals.

The Husker offense exploded for 14 hits as Billie and Brooke Andrews combined for six knocks. Billie started the Nebraska offense off with a first-inning home run which moved her to 10th all-time in career home runs with 28. Courtney Wallace and Katelyn Caneda each contributed two hits while Sydney Gray knocked in two runs.

Nebraska is currently playing Houston and you can listen along on the Huskers Radio Network of its affiliates.

Wrestling FINAL: No. 8 Nebraska 25, No. 5 Ohio State 16

It's a big one tonight in Columbus as Nebraska (9-3, 5-1) takes on a top-five team in the Buckeyes (12-2, 6-1). It's the 15th matchup between the two programs with the Huskers leading 9-5 and won the most recent matchup which was a 19-14 in the 2019-2020 season. If you can remember that far back, Isaiah White came up with a pin (with an injured ankle) to deliver a walk-off win.

We could have five ranked matchups tonight with the big one at 174 with No. 2 Mikey Labriola vs. No. 6 Ethan Smith. 184 will be a huge test for freshman No. 15 Lenny Pinto as he faces No. 5 Kaleb Romero who's an established veteran.

You can watch along with BTN.

Dominic Raiola: Rhule a Mastermind at rebuilds

Dominic Raiola Cliffs:
  • Thought Dylan a better baseball player than football
  • Dylan pegged as a lineman early on, but wanted to play QB
  • Calls all Dom's QBs through the league "Uncle" (polynesian thing), growing up around NFL
  • Raising Dylan first and foremost to be a good person, bible study, live it. Doesn't think Dylan will get a big head.
  • Nobody's gonna have Nebraska's facilities when the construction is complete
  • "Now you actually have...a mastermind at rebuilding college football programs" in Rhule
  • Rhule weight room culture improving, everybody wearing the same thing, alludes to knowing more with Donovan
  • Rhule easy to talk to, not a lot of fluff
  • Donovan retention speaks for itself

Off-season OT: I'm worried my son is a sociopath....

So we have been noticing charges on our credit card for Game Apps, Video Game Downloads, etc. You get the picture.

I questioned my 13 YO about it and he said it was a mistake, I asked you, or I didn't do it, etc. He seems to show remorse and pays us out of his own money.

Well my 16 YO came to us and narced his bother out that his brother admitted to him that he actually does know about the charges but lies to us so he doesn't get in trouble.

I asked my 13 YO about it and he said the truth is, he did the charges on purpose just to see if he could then trick his bother into telling on him. He said he did it as a Goof on his brother.

Seems like an elaborate way to troll someone...he even set aside money for this little science project.

Not sure what to think except my 13 might straight murder someone someday. Should I tell the authorities to "Nip it in the Bud"? Or should I encourage him as a social scientist?

Relationships

Coming from a sales person all my life perspective... If you give me a person that his No. 1 greatest attribute is Relationship building then you will see a very very successful person. Then you
are great at Organization, Character, Faith, Caring..etc then you will be ultra successful. I am extremely confident that Head Coach Matt Ruhle will be successful beyond anything I could have hoped for one year ago. The last head coach that was close to building relationships as a HC at Nebraska that I can remember was Bob Devaney. He could go into a room and when he left everyone thought that he was their best friend. Is that enough sunshine for today? GBR
