Football Bryce Benhart: Matt Rhule has “not just my back, but the whole team’s back”

Confidence is important for college football players. Without it, you're at a disadvantage.

Matt Rhule tried injecting confidence into his offensive line this spring, and he'll do it this fall, too.

OT: Three great “under the radar”, modern Westerns…

By modern I mean produced in the 21st century…

Not sure if they’re available for free on any streaming services, but all three are available for rent on Amazon prime…and well worth the $3.99.

Seraphim Falls:

Pierce Brosnan & Leah Misen are good in this one.

Appaloosa:

Ed Harris… Great as usual

Bone Tomahawk:

Fairly graphic violence, and some Native American supernatural stuff. Sort of “The Hills Have Eyes” set an a 1800s.

Football Garret McGuire talks Husker WRs, PTF creed, Zavier Betts and more

Here's a rundown of what WR coach Garret McGuire said during a recent appearance on Huskers Radio Network:

I know it got a mention in Alum-Ni's "Today in History" for July 12

But the anniversary of Disco Demolition Night really needs its own thread. Admission for $0.98 and a disco record you didn't mind seeing get blown up. Deep discounts on beer. Detonation of explosives on the field between games of a doubleheader. What could possibly go wrong? Login to view embedded media

OT- My lodge in Alaska (12/31 - posted interior cabin pics)

Again, wishing everyone happy holidays and good tidings. We still have some slots available June-Sept for groups wanting to come up - remember, Huskers get 25% off! Email me; akmark21@gmail.com

Babe Islands Lodge

This was the "Fish of the Year" for 2022 - 168 pound halibut. Caught by the most serious anglers that came up - guys brought gear worth thousands of dollars and worked hard to catch their fish. They had their king salmon caught on day 1, so switched gears to lingcod, black bass, and halibut. On the last day, I suggested a spot, and within 5 minutes of dropping, they got this one. That's me with the fish by the way.

Some days it would be just me out there, so I would wake up and either take the camp skiff out (the homemade boat to the right) or would just kayak around. And again that's NOT a lake,...that's the ocean, and it's 50 feet deep right from the dock - goes to 185 at its deepest out front. Whales (both humpback and orca) will swim here, along with salmon.

So you'll have to set up a float plane ride to come out - this is a Beaver owned by a local company. We use a group called Family Air; they give our customers a discount. Total flight time from Ketchikan: 18 minutes. Super fun ride, and you skim the trees when you land - it really adds to the Alaskan experience.

Sunsets like this are common.
IMG_1277.jpeg

This is on the other side of camp, where you will go fishing. And, if you are willing, this is where I would take you for scallops (each non-resident is allowed 5 per day). One group we work with, Alaskan Adventure Project, brings veterans up to go fishing/have adventures. I heard this year several retired SEALs are coming up, so we have had dive gear donated for them. Can't wait to take them out on what I think is world-class snorkeling.

Husker bar, complete with the Internet via Starlink (works fantastic - can stream games live no problem). Going to try and have a kegerator with two taps - both local brews - all summer long.

Group checking shrimp pots - as good as the fishing and hunting is, the shrimping at the lodge is the best you will ever do in your life. Just giant spot prawns, and you can get up to 3 quarts of tails per person per day.

Halibut and prawns....
IMG_0938.jpeg

Fishing the outer waters on a flat calm day...everyone limited out on halibut that day. Fish on a large bank called "20-fathom"; full of sand and bait.
IMG_0913.jpeg

50-pounder from that day off of 20-Fathom.
IMG_1073.jpeg

110-pound halibut

Coho (silver salmon)
IMG_0987.jpeg

Coho steaks - best way I think to have a coho. Remember, we can cook your catch - so imagine a coho fillet, deer backstrap, and fresh spot prawns - all in one day.

Campbell?

What changed…and so quickly?

***Legitimate Negative Comments to my thread here. Should have added more context.

Additional Comments:

Earnest Campbell

It appeared to me that Campbell seemed so fired up and positive about Nebraska when leaving his visit, and then it seemed to quickly go the other way.

I didn’t like his size, but did his speed and other abilities that had been mentioned here. Just curious as to what happened in his situation.
