We're a developmental program

Trev said it yesterday, and we all know it down deep. It's not a bad thing, and it's always been the case here, even during the championship years.

Embrace it. Don't expect freshman to be all conference. Bring them in, coach them up, build them up and turn them loose.

An occasional legacy walk on that does great thing is a piece of this puzzle.

Blackshirts awarded Sunday. Coaches on the field/up in the box.

"He confirmed during his availability that the coaching staff will begin handing out the blackshirts later this weekend."

"I would never want to call the game from the field. I’d always want to be up top where it’s a little more sterile and less emotional, but Sat (Coach Satterfield) likes to call it from the field. Tony (Coach White) likes to call it from the field.

Sometimes the coordinators like to go up to the box just to get away from me after a couple games. 😂

I don’t spend too much time worrying about it. We’ve done so much preparation. There’s not a thing that’ll be called that we haven’t prepared for and talked about. We literally will talk like, ‘it’s third and seven on the 32 yard line I say ‘you got two downs. We’re going for a fourth and two. What are you calling?’ And they better be able to say it to me like that. Sat’s (Coach Satterfield) elite at that. He’s worked for me before. Tony (White) is really smart in that way and so is Ed (Coach Scott). I would think all three coordinators will be down on the field and probably Garret (McGuire) will go up top because he really sees the passing game well. Aaron Coeling who is one of the finest young coaches I’ve ever been around is a graduate assistant for us and that allows him to be on the headset. He works hand in hand with Donny (Coach Raiola) so he’ll be up as well seeing the run game and one other coach.

On defense I would anticipate Rob (Coach Dvoracek) going up and I’m not sure what they’re going to do with Coop (Coach Cooper), but I see the coordinators being down on the field.”

Nebraska vs. Minnesota Prediction, Game Preview
by Pete Fiutak, CollegeFootballNews.com

Nebraska (0-0, 0-0) at Minnesota (0-0, 0-0)
Thursday, August 31 - 8:00 PM (ET) - FOX

Why Nebraska Will Win
How much better will the Huskers be right away under Matt Rhule?

The offense will be more productive and versatile, but the improvements in the ground game should be the biggest difference. Georgia Tech transfer QB Jeff Sims is a dangerous all-around playmaker, and the receiving corps is better, but any quick improvements overall will come with more production on the defensive side.

The secondary will be strong from the start, but the front six will need the new transfers to rise up and rock right away. Minnesota will pound, but keep the ground attack to under 200 yards -- the Huskers did that last year -- and this will stay close.

Minnesota doesn't have Mohamed Ibrahim around -- he ran for 128 yards and two scores in last year's 20-13 Gopher win -- and it should take a game or two before the line jells without star center and New York Giant John Michael Schmitz. However.....

Why Minnesota Will Win
.....Nebraska has a ton of work to do -- this isn't going to be fixed overnight.

The help for the Husker defensive line needs to be great fast, the offensive line should need a few weeks to be up to speed -- but both lines will be better than last year's versions -- and Minnesota has the lines to be better and more consistent in the early going.

The receivers are there with Chris Autman-Bell back from a leg injury, Western Michigan transfer RB Sean Tyler should be a statistical star, and the defense that finished eighth in the nation in total D and fourth in scoring D a season ago will be even better if the pass rush can do a bit more.

Who Will Win
Minnesota will grind its way to a win, but Nebraska fans will get a glimpse of what's coming.

The Husker offense will work on the first few drives, but the Gopher defense will settle in, the ground attack will take over the tempo, and the team that was third in the nation in time of possession will own the clock in the second half for -- sorry, Nebraska fans; I know you're used to this, and it'll all get better soon -- a close win.

Prediction
Minnesota 24, Nebraska 16

Spread
Minnesota is favored at home by 7 points; the O/U is at 46.5

Attending games to the 4 new West coast teams

UCLA- Pasadena. I’ve attended 3 Bruin games ( 84,94,2012) and the 2002 Rose Bowl game and Pasadena is a trip worth while great tailgating on the Brookside golf course which they shut down on game days.

If you want to seat so you can view the San Gabriel mountains you want to seat on the press box side of the stadium or South end zone..Do not go lower then the 20 rows seats are not good seeing the action..
B+

Oregon- Eugene.Attended the 2017 game if which the Ducks jumped to 42-14 lead and at half and the Huskers came back in the second losing 42-35..Autzen is smaller stadium I’d compare it to Minnesota in size 58,000 and it was one of the louder Husker away games I’ve attended..Every one wore yellow that day and tailgated with Husker fans by their baseball diamond..

There is only one way in to the stadium and one way out making it out of the stadium to our hotel on our bus, after the game was over by the time we took off getting back to the motel which was only 20 minutes away from the stadium it took as long heading back from Lincoln to west Omaha after a game that part was the worst part of the trip..Visited the Sand Dunes Frontier in Florence Oregon.
B-

Washington- Seattle. Been to Husky stadium in 97 and 2010 both were great trips visiting the space needle both times eating lunch once dinner the second.. The city is on the Puget Sound and is surrounded by water went to Pike market place also took a boat to tour around the city stayed at the Embassy suites.

Took a boat and came back and tail gated to the game in 2010 which was awesome experience..Husky stadium is by the water Union bay and it’s a beautiful view in the stadium and it’s very loud especially when the Huskies play well and winning which both games started very loud till Nebraska started controlling the game.
A

USC- Los Angeles. Nebraska has only played there twice in 71 at night and Callahan‘s 2006 team losing 28-10. I haven’t been to the Coliseum didn’t have much interest and heard it was in a bad area of LA..

Sorry if this is a little long.

Football Tony White, Huskers are ready for Minnesota after taking "over 6,000 reps"

Tony White says the Huskers don't have any more install after today's practice and following the team taking "over 6,000 reps" to learn his new defense.

Volleyball Nebraska moves up to No. 4 in latest AVCA poll

The Nebraska Volleyball team rose up to No. 4 in the latest AVCA coaches' poll that was released Monday afternoon. The Huskers are coming off a 3-0 weekend after hosting the Ameritas Players Challenge when they swept Utah State, Lipscomb and SMU in three consecutive days. The Huskers move up one spot as they were tied for No. 5 with Pittsburgh in the preseason poll. The Panthers lost their season opener 3-1 to BYU so they dropped down to No. 10.

Former No. 1 team Texas dropped a contest to Long Beach State. As a result, the Longhorns come in at No. 7. Now, three of the top five teams in the country reside in the Big Ten conference. All bolded teams are Husker opponents this season. Also, I hope the only one voting for Texas to be No. 1 is their own head coach. Otherwise, don't know why someone voted for them.

1. Wisconsin (50)
2. Stanford (11)
3. Louisville (2)
4. Nebraska
5. Minnesota
6. Oregon
7. Texas (1)
8. Florida
9. BYU
10. Pittsburgh
11. Georgia Tech
12. Ohio State
13. Houston
14. Penn State
15. Kentucky
16. Baylor
17. Washington State
18. Rice
19. Marquette
20. Creighton
21. Arkansas
22. Western Kentucky
23. Kansas
24. Tennessee
25. Purdue

The candyasses abound.....

No one will ever mistake me for a Texas fan but if there's any group more entitled than the Uterines it's the victim clan.

Just a little fun OT diversion

I was flipping through the channels on TV and saw one of the literally hundreds of Taco Bell commercials I have seen over the past several months.

What occurred to me was that on Madison Avenue, did the Ad Agency actually tell Taco Bell that the best way to sell their product is to show young people eating their products like complete pigs, stuffing their product into their faces like they haven't eaten in 2 weeks, letting sauce and other things from their product drip all over everything? Some of these ads are pretty disgusting and frankly a turnoff to eating Taco Bell.

Thoughts?
