Sims/Offense 2.0

Throw out the playbook. Put Sims under center. Irvin to fullback and Rahmir as tailback in the I-formation. QB sneaks and rollout passes to tight ends. Get Sims the hell out of the pocket where he can do damage with legs and not throw interceptions. Minimize weakness of slow O-line by going forward rather than backward. A little option football can go a long way to getting 6 wins rather than this S$&@-Show. Either that or start HH.

NU vs. Scum prediction thread

No prediction thread yet so I will get it going. I think we improve in week 2. My biggest worry is the loss of Ty for the first half. We need to make sure these guys do not get off to a fast start and we need him. But I do think we will move the ball and we will cut down on our turnovers. How good is Scum's offense really? We will see. It is at their place and the crowd will be raucous. I hope our defense does not wear out in the second half due to altitude.

I say we will pull off the upset. I know I was all doom and gloom on here after Minnesota but that is how I roll. I am an emotional guy and I love my Huskers. Last week was a real kick in the balls due to the way we lost. But I think we rebound this week:

Nebraska 31
Scum. 28

GBR!

Football Nebraska lost because it's Nebraska: Huskers once again impose style, set pace but still lose

Nebraska lost on Saturday because it's Nebraska. The Huskers simply CANNOT stay out of their own way. And we could be looking at the typical Matt Rhule Year One season if they don't clean it up and figure it out. In a hurry over these next two games, neither of which are gimmies...

Does Matt Rhule have too big an ego to be successful?

“There’s also the feeling among league sources that Rhule keeps too many of his former college players, which can affect his credibility in the locker room. An agent who represents multiple Panthers’ players called Carolina “less meritocratic” than any team he deals with, adding the Panthers have Temple and Baylor players who wouldn’t make a roster anywhere else in the league.”

Matt Rhule will only play and recruit the players that worship in the church of Rhule

Tom Herman

Too late now, but could have probably had him for 20 million less. Better coach in all areas (including recruiting) and we could have kept Casey. Chances are we would be 2-0 right now. Just thinking of what might have been. Instead we have Jeff Sims and once again, the season is most likely over just 2 games in.
Rhule better pull his head out of his ass quick and prove he is worth what Neb is paying him. Yeah year one and all the other bullshit excuses....Whatever. This looks like a Frost-coached team so far.

Volleyball Nebraska stays unbeaten with sweep of Long Beach State

For the second-straight season the Huskers served former assistant coach Tyler Hildebrand an L in Lincoln. This time with an effective block and an offense that recorded a season high hitting percentage. Hit the link.

A few random notes about today

- I thought our defense held out as long as they could today. The offense kept betraying them.
- Freshman Lenhardt. I see you.
- Thomas Fidone. Nice to see you make an appearance. That reach back snatch and later TD scoop were nice to see. For real that first catch was nice. That is how you are supposed to catch a ball.
- Duh....the coaches have no real choice at QB it seems. The guy they went with is a turnover machine. Horrible. Can he play H-Back?
- Eight sacks was a nice thing to see
- Billy Kemp has made an appearance.

Lets start turning things around and letting the performers make plays. Let them eat. If you go with the turnover machine, run the ball 80 times a game. He is best on his feet....although several times he actually made a good throw and our guys dropped easy catches. Be better.

Play calling for Sims

Does it seem like we haven’t taken any deep shots yet with Sims? I remember the one to the ex corner/wideout/corner (Tommi Hill) on play action 1st down at Minnesota, but I don’t recall many 2nd and short post patterns to Betts.
That dude is our best athlete and only perimeter speed.

Oh wait. No excuse for the QB with zero awareness or sense of urgency, but that was a major blow 2 weeks to game 1.
Just one small vote for Rhule.

Let’s really give him a chance. This could be fun!
