Login to view embedded media Has been “over” for a long time. Unless we get “recruiters” (cough, cough) as coaches. This “build your program around NE/IA/SD” kids isn’t going to work, especially in a nation wide conference. We need to be getting 20+ scholarship kids a year from FL, CA, TX, NJ, OH, PA, etc. ANYWHERE with more than 2 million people in your entire state. Hell even if you add IA, MO, SD, KS, etc you get the population of the Dallas metro BY ITSELF. There was never a dropoff in NE HS football talent, they’re just not even remotely ready to play at a high level in D1. It is what it is.

They are who we thought they were - White vs Satterfield

I am not sure why we are even surprised with what we are seeing - good and bad.

Exhibit A - Huskers.com bios told us EXACTLY what we were getting. Yet we seem surprised.

Statistical Rankings don’t lie. They are bench marks against your peer teams and coaches. They show a body of work over an entire season.

Tony White’s Husker Bio shows rankings. It’s black and white. It’s the true scoreboard for a coordinator. And Whites rankings his last two seasons at Syracuse had his defense

2021 - 21st Total Defense
2022 - 19th Total Defense

Just about where we are now. In the ballpark.

Then look at the RANKINGS of his Secondary at schools like San Diego State and every place he has been. Ranked in the Top 25 or better. Every time. Dramatic improvements in year 1 at every stop.

Satterfields Husker bio doesn’t discuss rankings EVER. Not once for Total O or scoring. They call out GAMES where his QB threw for a bunch of yards. They compare the offensive numbers to teams of the past. But never against his peers in the form of a ranking. His bio reads like a politicians speech. Showing cherry picked data data to paint a picture of success that goes against what reality actually was.

Satterfields last two seasons of Total Offense RANKINGS at South Carolina.

2021 - 110 out of 130
2022 - 70 out of 130 (this was with Spencer Rattler)

Exhibit B - the people that know you best are telling the story. Satterfield did not receive an extension at the end of the 2021 season. All of the coaches did other than Satterfield and the O line coach. His 2022 season at South Carolina was to be his last. Getting paid $900k. We signed him for $1.4M when he didn’t even have a contract for 2023 at the $900k he was making.

Exhibit C - what does he do with a full off season to recruit his players to run the system and figure out what plays will work?

Here are Satterfields first 15 series

He scored 1TD in his first 6 quarters of football.
What you’re seeing now isn’t a recent change or a result of injuries. When he was playing at full strength his offense was inept.

They are who we thought they were.

Our offense is inept and looks exactly like one that would be ranked around 100th in the country.

Our defense looks like a Top 20 defense.

We are getting EXACTLY what we brought in. Exactly.

Stuff I heard (not all that interesting)

Rhule made practice a bit more "secure"

Purdy is by far the best pure pocket passer on the team. He might get in.

Trick plays added in for this week and Kemp should be back and 100%.

Ruggeroli was on an unofficial. (I have no clue who that is)

The Kienholz family was in attendance at the Purdue game. (no idea at all who that is either)

White has no interested in USC but does have interest in a HC gig.

And again, no clue if this stuff is accurate.

Football ***OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: NEBRASKA-MARYLAND

Time to get charged up! 'Skers and Turtles kick off in about 2.5 hours.

Weather is gloomy, mid-50s, gray and cloudy, maybe some light rain and wind between 15-20 mph forecasted throughout the entire game. The exact type of weather Nebraska wants. Advantage: Huskers

Spread:
MD -2.5
O/U 42.5
(Per BetMGM as of this morning, point total has steadily dropped from 45.5 throughout the week)

My final score prediction:
Nebraska 23
Maryland 20

Offensive POTG: Emmett Johnson
Defensive POTG: Isaac Gifford

Once again, here's all the info you need on today's Peacock stream + radio info:

November is tough

Bottom line is this team is not good. They could be with some decent QB play but there is no way we can expect to win Anything with these turnovers. Any coach in this league can figure out how to stop this so called offense by this time of year. It's comical reading these post's during the game. Run ....no why didn't he pass there ? Dogging White , come on man. I didn't expect to win and we won't next week. This defense will be wasted this year. We could have been like Iowa, but not by turning it over 4 times a game. We need better talent on offense to compete at a competent level. Not this year folks.

Observations

Satterfield should resign for that 3rd down play call..he found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
We do not have a D-1 quality QB..it's absolutely amazing we won 5 games
Badger and Hawkeye defenses will prison rape this offense
Despite a fantastic defense, we will not go bowling this year unless Rhule can have God grant us a miracle or there is a COVID outbreak in Madison or Iowa City and they are forced to forfeit..
