Under performed

I know a number of fans want Rhule fired or satt fired or both, and yes I’m disappointed in how the season went. Let’s look at the three new coaches did, We didn’t know what to expect from Nebraska now be honest last year we had 4 wins we had a dumpster fire. Luke fickle yes they had a winning record at 7-5 but before the season started the media was saying Wisconsin was going to run away with the west. They under performed, Purdue Brohm left a Pretty stable roster for walters last year they were in the title game they didn’t make a bowl game this season considerable under preformed he’ll bert at Illinois didn’t make a bowl game. Under performed. And the luckiest team by far is Iowa

Even if Nebraska never wins an another championship

I’d rather be a long suffering Cornhusker fan than all the Nebraska haters from Iowa, Colorado, Texas etc who have few if any modern day national championships. Dynasties don’t last forever. The incredible success in winning 5 national and 21 conference championships over a 36 year span under Devaney and Osborne can be equaled by only a few other elite programs. Envy often gives way to hate.

Headed in the Right Direction-Give me a Break

How can they say that we are headed in the right direction when no one has been fired. The talent of the offense is as good as the talent on defense, and after 12 games nothing has improve. I hate to say this but Scott Frost's offense was far more productive. If Satterfield and Rhule had kept the offense as productive as last year we would be setting on 10 wins. And the play calling is no better than Scott Frost, it is just as idiotic, the latest is what the hell are you throwing a short pass with 15 seconds left, when a long pass was needed to get in field goal range, If these coaches cannot figure that out, look for the same thing next year and hopefully they will be fired far sooner than Scott Frost. Bad habits do not go away. I seen receivers open and the QB was throwing the ball away, The percentages of batted balls is far too high. I would think that Purdy has a wealth of knowledge just from his elderly brother, it looks as if he is doing things he is not sold on. And why only one long pass down field?

Okie St in OT after missed XPT

Okie St scores a TD with 43 seconds to go and XPT to go up 4pts...but got it blocked.

allowed BYU to march down for a game-tying FG for OT.

crazy. Okie St playing for the Big 12 championship game. Win and they're in.

Ironic that Sooner fans having lost Bedlam (and the trophy) for perhaps forever...and Sooners have to root for Cowboys to lose if they want to play for a conference title.

Glad to see

Glad to see an article in The Journal pointing out that Trev is getting some blowback from various important people about his plan for a $450 million revamp of the stadium at a time when the University as a whole is suffering from budget shortfalls. And before people chime in ... I get it ... ok? ... I get it ... a successful football team is very good financially for the university in the long run. And I further get that the football team is self sustaining and gets no money from the University.

But I am glad there is blow back. I am opposed to spending $450 million on a renovated stadium when the product on the field is still a steaming pile of excrement. Spend that money instead on NIL ventures in some creative ways that will bring elite football players here. Spend that money on even more bells and whistles for the players. Do that and develop championship caliber teams and I guarantee you that tens of thousands of fans will gladly file into an unrenovated South Stadium for games even if it means hardship in holding your piss or finding a Runza. How many of us attended games in freezing cold against nobody opponents back in the Osborne years and stayed until the end even if we were ahead nine million to zero and you had piss backing up to your eye sockets? And don't tell me that this was because so few games were on TV. Because some of those games were not worth watching and it was brutally cold. But you went and you stayed because you really, really wanted to be in that stadium supporting those teams.

Build a winning product on the field. Then renovate the damn stadium. Otherwise, you are going to have a really pretty, shiny new stadium with heated toilets under every new seat and a pizza slice delivered by a Big Red Drone, with only 30,000 showing up to watch us lose to the University of Southern North Dakota with a walk off field goal.

Kong - I’m at peace with you now. I get you.

You don’t know football. Your repetitive rationale for why Haarberg should be our QB now and forever is because “he’s a winner”.

You have no idea about the Xs and Os or personnel or stats or anything beyond the first layer so that’s why you cling so tight to your soundbite.

It’s not trolling. It’s just lack of understanding.

You’re the fan in the stands that is screaming “great play call” on a TD play that came from a C1 coverage, standard slant pass where the safety lost the ball in the air and the WR plucks it and goes for 6.

You are that guy high fiving everyone and telling everyone how great the throw was by the QB when a few others know that ball should have never been thrown.

Then the rest of the game you’re yelling “throw the deep slant! It works!”

And there is zero point for any of us to try to refute your point about “Haarberg is a winner.” Because at the end of the day you’re right - he won more games than the other QBs. We won’t ever win that argument. And when you can’t see past that and take a more detailed approach to the analysis, you won’t see anything more than the wins and losses. Thus your position.

“Throw the slant!” Is identical to “Haarberg is a winner”.

I totally get it.

Rules for roster building

@Steve Marik @Zack Carpenter @Greg Smith

The season is over, so you need something to write about. Obviously the roster will be a focus for the next 8 months. Some of the rules regarding rules around eligibility, scholarships and transfers are clear as mud. I would appreciate an article that clears some of that up, maybe an interview with someone from the compliance office. Just an idea, but here are some questions that I'd appreciate answered:

1. When a HS recruit signs a NLI with a B1G school, how long is the scholarship guaranteed? 4 years? 5 years? Until undergrad degree?
2. Is the guaranteed time of the scholarship the same in the other P5? Goup of 5? FCS?
3. Do players that were in college in 2020, have 6 years guaranteed?
4. Is a scholarship guaranteed for transfers from other P5? How long? Net of 4 years between all schools attended? 5 years? Until undergrad degree? How about transfers from G5? or from FCS?
5. What are the requirements for a hardship waiver? Can it only be applied for after eligibility is used up?
6. Do walkons that transfer have to use the one time transfer exemption on their first transfer? Can they transfer a second time and be immediately eligible?
7. Does a graduate that has transferred once have to apply for a waiver to transfer a second time and be immediately eligible? When does a graduate transfer have to enter the transfer portal to be eligible next season?
8. What are the dates for the transfer portal and what are their significance?
9. When can class of 2025 start taking Official visits? What contact is allowed with the 2025 recruits?

Then applying it to our current roster:
Who is on a multiyear scholarship?
Who is on a year to year scholarship?
Who is a walkon?
Probably can't get solid answers on these and it will be a bit of speculation.

Just a suggestion on some roster questions that the answers aren't currently clear.

Progress was made in 2023.

I know nobody wants to hear it now, but a lot of progress was made this year.

First of all, there is a better culture and bye in moving forward.

Second, with all the injuries, we got a lot of young players a ton of experience that will pay huge benefits moving forward.

Third, with all the close losses and still this team never quit. These coaches can motivate players. The big question is can they manage the clock and end of game issues...

Last of all, the program is in good hands. Rhule is no Scott Frost, if you can not tell the difference, then just keep bitching. And our AD Alberts knows what he is doing.

Be patient Husker fans the program is in good hands...

Rhule is 16-34 on his last 50 games as a HC….

I have faith in him based on Temple and Baylor, but perhaps he needs to learn how to win games again as a HC? His teams have not won much at all since he left Baylor.

I know there are a myriad of reasons for this, but his in game decision making in November certainly reeks of a coach who has been in a lot of close games but has not won many of them in recent years.
