Tony White has a Back 7 problem

So deservedly a lot of discussion about the offensive execution, but good lord, from my seat in the south stadium, this defense has issues now that the competition has improved. Of the 20 DB’s on the roster, they can’t find just 3 suitable backups for the injured starters? Charles was awful, IMO, believe he got pulled before end of first half. S and LBs either look like they overrun the play or fail to wrap up when they seem to be in position to make the tackle. DL no longer can win the line of scrimmage when faced against decent athletes on the OL. Princewell and Williams now MIA.
Jeremiah Charles was one of Rhule's under the radar recruits. He played only one year of football in HS, and we beat out North Texas for him. His performance shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.

They’re frost recruits who’ve been told “no thanks” by the nfl and you’re surprised they’re soft and crappy?

Find a mirror, bud. That’s on you.
I’m with you on Frost recruits being soft and crappy.

It’s the elephant in the room that most people want to talk about. The effort is just not there. When there is ANY adversity they just fold. No toughness whatsoever. No will to win.

There are coaches that need to be on the chopping block but also a ton of starters not good enough and not even trying. They need to be sat down and have honest talks with

If we can’t cover with 7, what happens if the blitz doesn’t get home? I think white is playing the long game. Make teams go 10-15 plays and hope they make a mistake to get us off the field.

The opponent also matters. UCLA is a quick throw offense. Tough to have an effective blitz if they’re going 3 step drop and getting the ball out. Ideally we could go man, press them at the line and blitz. But I don’t think we have the guys to play press
If you can't get to the QB before the quick throw then get the arms/hands up.

I thought the 3-3-5 defense was made for this with different blitzes coming from different angles..

Haven’t seen us blitz like I thought this type of defense was built for..

Iowa

Ohh NO here we go again with what the Clarkeyes have ever accomplished.
C’mon man…Tell what I’ve said is wrong? I even gave a shout out that Iowa beats the teams they’re supposed to. Good on them.

I don’t care for Iowa but I haven’t gone to their board ever. Do you? Probably not.

What I’m saying is, jerks like these are so envious of our program and what they’ve accomplished over 60 years that they come here for one purpose: to start shit. So when we have bad years (which lately has been alot), it makes these jerks feel good about their pathetic lives.

Anybody fired yet

It appears he starts every game with a shiny new shovel.
He definitely spins it that way. I don’t know what’s worse going 5-7 or 6-6? You go 5-7 and you know changes will be made, if they go 6-6 Rhule will prop that up as tangible progress and retain everyone. It won’t matter anyway because we still won’t be prepared to compete in the BIG next year.

Dannen has the keys to the nuclear football

Get a head start on the coaching carousel. Name either Tony White or Glenn Thomas as interim HC. Honestly what do you have to lose.
I don't think getting a head start on the coaching carousel is going to make any difference at this point. There's nothing attractive about a program with the lack of success and existing challenges that fires a coach with a 5-4 record with three games left in his second season.

Solution

After the Indiana debacle, I bet my friends each $20 that Huskers would not win another game this season. I would argue yesterday was predictable to anyone who has paid attention to Husker football for more than 10 years. We play down to competition (UCLA) and, conversely, play up (Ohio State) to competition.

We will likely play Iowa and Wisconsin close, but after what we saw yesterday, they would have every right to beat our faces in. We are a very mentally weak team.

Brett Haskell has done more damage to Husker sports than any coach. I will die on that hill. She is may no longer officially be with the program, but the residual mental cancer embedded in the psyche of football is evident. She is still on the website. https://huskers.com/staff/brett-haskell

Our players, other than Barney, Butler, and Shavers, are regressing. It’s sad. It’s not solely the play calling. We have mental cancer.

I am not watching until it’s changed. The SOLUTION is to get a proven psychologist. Make it mandatory that the starting personnel and coaches see him or her. Its all mental.
