Let’s all agree to congratulate Coach Rhule on coaching an excellent game. He’s a good coacoach
I'm not so sure he is a good coach. He is certainly no worse than average but we are paying for great. My opinion can change but for the last 2 seasons I've always heard from him it's never a coaching issue, it's always up to the players how far they go, after bringing in the worst OC available. It led people to believe we had very little talent on the roster and strength and conditioning was an issue. Holgerson dispelled that notion in very short order. This should have been a 10 win team and Rhule looks really humbled now. Probably a good thing. I don't think he can afford for DH taking another job somewhere else next season.

I thought if we lost to Wisconsin that we would also lose to Iowa. Conversely I thought if we beat Wisky we would also beat Iowa. I stand by that prediction. Especially since we beat Wisky convincingly.

I think we win by 10 points or so. There are two factors to consider. One is definitely the weather. I think it will affect both teams. It will be interesting to see how DR handles the cold, windy night. But I like his chances of dealing with the weather better than Iowa’s QB. The bottom line is we have the better QB which is huge.

The second factor is Holgorsen. Will we add even more wrinkles to the offense to keep Iowa on its heels? Because Iowa now has game tape of Holgorsen’s tweaks to our offense and they will prep for that. I would wager that Holgorsen has a few more wrinkles up his sleeve.

After watching Wisky shut down Oregon’s offense I thought they would be better than they were. Will Iowa be better than Wisky on defense? Probably, but not by much based on what I have seen.

I like our match-ups with them. Their strength on offense is their running game and that is the strong suit of our defense. Our offense will need to be able to run the ball as well. So thank God Holgorsen has correctly identified EJ as our featured back.

Nebraska 24 Iowa 14
Dylan will have 3-350 yards passing against a poor Herky Pass D unlike yesterday as before the game Wiscy was ranked 10th in the country in Passing D and are now 13th after yesterday.

It will be a close game if we let Kaleb Johnson break off some long runs against us. We still let Wisconsin score 25 after they fired their OC so while I would love a blowout, i doubt that’s going to happen.
They didn't have 1 Rushing TD all of theirs were through the air! He ain' breakin off long runs against us bud. Iowa's O is one dimensional and if anyone thinks that Kaleb is gonna have a banner day is outta their ever lovin minds and better get their heads checked! Wisconsin had 115 but also had something Iowa does not have, which is a passing offense and which was able to mix things up are down to their 4th string QB. If they think that they're just gonna run it down our throats and win, Kaleb is gonna have a VERY BAD day and sticking with my guns sayin he's gonna finish with only 75-80 yards in the game.

I think the players needed a more simplified scheme and the ass-chewing speech by Dana to get motivated. The talent is/was there but it's more than just raw talent needed to win games. In particular, the OL and RB seemed to be more motivated.
Along with less rotating guys in and out. RBs like EJ and Dowdell were used correctly. Donte had 3TDs and being used to hammer the ball in. EJ is used a lot more between the 20's and is finding the holes.

All certainly possible. Also possible that Rhule can go and find a different OC that will work out. He found Dana, he found Jeff Nixon, who isn’t a terrible OC at Syracuse. He went and got Tony White. Lots of possibilities out there and assuming we’ll just be fvcked without Dana is kind of small-picture thinking.

Rhule has already shown boat loads more flexibility than any head man we’ve had in the past 20 years. Cosgrove, Mark Banker, Eric Chinander anyone?? People that assume he won’t make necessary changes at this point have just been so triggered they’ve made their hatred personal against him.
didn't Frost employ something like 4 OCs in 5 years?

Football Postgame notebook: Why Wisconsin is important to Rhule, winning middle 8

A quick notebook-type piece of content for this late morning.

> Why Rhule said the Wisconsin game will always be important for him and his wife, Julie
> Nebraska's defense didn't allow a rushing touchdown at home this season. It marks the first time NU went an entire home season without allowing a rushing touchdown since 1939
> Winning the middle eight and staying with 12 personnel in two-minute paid off in the first half

Head coaches can't be forced to make a change. We've seen it. They get the information they get and either pull the trigger, or don't and live with the decision. Alls well that ends well, hopefully this is one of those times it ends well for the good guys. Lord knows we haven't had many of these decisions end well. Diaco anybody?
Well, I think it's been mixed.

Diaco: F
Whipple: C (But a downgrade from the offense we used to have)
DH: Incomplete (But as of today a B with a chance to go to an A depending on how the year closes)
Bo Pelini (2003): A

Those are the big changes that I can remember.

IF Dana stays, the majority of the offensive staff needs to go. They've had 2 springs, 2 falls and 20 ballgames to prove their worth. They didn't all just magically start coaching better in the last 2 weeks. Its all because of the Dana influence on the entire unit.

If Dana leaves, this will be the same old sad sack of shit coaching staff as we've become accustomed to. And Rhule will be headed down the road in a couple of years.
