fully agreeDid the reporter ask about Coleman’s availability for Saturday? Pretty sure that reporter already knew that his participation with the team this season was spotty at best and he was basically out the door. So it was a bullshit question and it got the proper response.
It’s not so much blaming the kid as it is the injury. He shouldn’t have been on the field. I’ve had that injury. You think you’re better then you apply unusual pressure to it and you experience crippling pain all over again. Mine took months to fully resolve and I wasn’t trying to cover D-1 WRs. Just being able to walk pain free was a win.Probably just an honest oversight but he didn't mention Hill being injured & held out when asked about the injured list... until he was asked specifically about him. And then he blames Hill for touchdowns scored against him in 3 previous games... I THINK that's what I heard.
Yeah, no shit. If these coaches do their freaking jobs we better see 2 starter level CBs from the portal this off season.Letting him play is solely on the coaches. Completely ridiculous and it makes me wonder if the coaches pay attention during the game or watch any tape because the fact that Hill can't move at all is obvious if you pay even just a little bit of attention.
Seems like a reporter was trying to get Rhule to answer a question about a talented local kid with lots of rumors going about. I’m all for it.Did the reporter ask about Coleman’s availability for Saturday? Agreed. Not complaining about the reporter's question. Confused by Rhule's response.Seems like a reporter was trying to get Rhule to answer a question about a talented local kid with lots of rumors going about. I’m all for it.
I thought we wanted reporters to ask the tough questions?
It's one thing to have a DL or a LB with a foot injury that can flare up without warning.Yeah, no shit. If these coaches do their freaking jobs we better see 2 starter level CBs from the portal this off season.
I think the linebacker and dl coach is doing okIt's one thing to have a DL or a LB with a foot injury that can flare up without warning.
It's quite another when that player stands between making a play and giving up points.
For this program to make any real progress, some of these coaches need to go.
Just getting lucky and winning #6 in the next two weeks shouldn't factor in those coaches sent packing or not.
Other than Butler, they've all had 2 years to prove their worth at NU.
Other teams noticeLetting him play is solely on the coaches. Completely ridiculous and it makes me wonder if the coaches pay attention during the game or watch any tape because the fact that Hill can't move at all is obvious if you pay even just a little bit of attention.
I know, I was illustrating the difference between a DLmen or a LB missing a tackle because of a foot injury, and a CB missing a tackle which results in a big play or a touchdown.I think the linebacker and dl coach is doing ok
My oldest got PF at the end of his sophomore track season and we finally got a handle on it months later. In hindsight, they should have sat him before the Ill game. We should pay whatever the hell it takes to get Phil Parker to leave Iowa and coach our D.I know, I was illustrating the difference between a DLmen or a LB missing a tackle because of a foot injury, and a CB missing a tackle which results in a big play or a touchdown.
Wasn't dogging the DL or LB coach.
Hill's play over the past few games are putting him into undrafted status. Fortunately for him, he'll have a chance to put up great numbers at the combine. There's always somebody that will see the Colorado tape and decide that they can do something with him-- a Jacksonville or Raiders come to mind. If he gropes someone maybe the Browns will show some interest.Probably just an honest oversight but he didn't mention Hill being injured & held out when asked about the injured list... until he was asked specifically about him. And then he blames Hill for touchdowns scored against him in 3 previous games... I THINK that's what I heard.

Matty didn’t see. Like he was in a real good mood yesterday
Everyone wants starter level CBs in the portal though. And I don't think getting in a bidding war is going to do us any good. At this point, I think we look almost exclusively at Missouri Valley and Big Sky conference players-- standouts on those teams would help us. Hell, some of those teams can beat us.Yeah, no shit. If these coaches do their freaking jobs we better see 2 starter level CBs from the portal this off season.
Having Rhule and Holgerson in the same building is like having a QB controversy. This is Rhule throwing a player under the bus. If he cost us touchdowns in 3 games why in the hell was he still playing by game 3? Do we beat USC if he is on the bench? Who knows, but our chances would have been better. The decision to play him is on Rhule. And what is Rhule implying here? That Hill lied to them about how bad his injury still was? But once again, if that was the case it should have been immediately evident to any coach with eyes that the dude was still compromised.
The more I listen to Rhule the more I hear the voice of a man who knows he is a dead man walking. That his team sucks and he knows it sucks. Holgorsen is a band aid. A PR move to buy time. He may not even be back next year.
Rhule is putting together a good recruiting class. But once again, so what? We have seen this movie and heard this bullshit before. We win the off season and fans see a decent recruiting class and all of a sudden hope is in the air. But then the season starts and reality takes over. Other than Holgorsen all of the coaching staff remains. And if they are all back next year expect more of the same.
The only glimmer of hope I see is if Holgorsen stays and many offensive assistants are shit canned. Holgorsen could then hire a competent staff.
If that happens will we see an air raid offense? Shit I hope not. But if it works I will suddenly become its biggest booster.
The shine has worn off in every way. And he knows it.Boy you're not kidding. The shine has really worn off of his press savvy
If that happens will we see an air raid offense? Shit I hope not. But if it works I will suddenly become its biggest booster.
My wallet is remaining closed until Rhule proves he can winCan we be boosters of just one specific set of plays? Asking for my wallet
Hill is not a high character kid. He's the same guy who avoided contact two or three times in a game-- I think it was the Northwestern game in Ireland? Not sure. At best, he's a pile inspector. He's been physical at times this year and I was hopeful that he had turned a corner. Remember he's also the guy who was suddenly moved to WR in the middle of the season a couple years ago-- just kicked out of the DB room. Why? So Rhule gave him a fresh start and he was a Rhule success story until now. This is Rhule throwing a player under the bus. I understand the dismay but he isn’t going anywhere and will be our head coach next season..This is Rhule throwing a player under the bus. I agree he will be back. And I agree we have to keep cheering on for victory. But I doubt he survives next year. If he does I will be elated. But I don't think he willI understand the dismay but he isn’t going anywhere and will be our head coach next season..
Need to find a way to win one more game and possibly two and hope he makes coaching changes after the season is over..
Seniors need to finally find away to win..
You only make one aspect of my point stronger. Namely, that if Hill is not really a good player and he has cost us points why in the hell is he playing at all? Are his backups really that awful? If they are then why? How many defensive backs are on our roster? 132? And not one of the them is worth a shit? That too is on the coaches for not recruiting better. Rhule made this situation what it is and now he is throwing shade at Hill to deflect blame.Hill is not a high character kid. Coaches are notoriously bad when it comes to nose-blindness. They play players who need to be pulled or benched all the time, and it affects the team. How many games are lost every year because a backup is sitting instead of playing?Letting him play is solely on the coaches. Completely ridiculous and it makes me wonder if the coaches pay attention during the game or watch any tape because the fact that Hill can't move at all is obvious if you pay even just a little bit of attention.
Rhule wasted two years here by hiring below average to bad offensive and special teams assistants and failing to plug holes in the defense through the portal. Whether he fixes those mistakes next year is yet to be seen. You only make one aspect of my point stronger. Scouts are going to hear about his injury and how he tried to play through it. Yeah no doubt it hurt him but somebody is going to look at his measurables and take a shot on him.Hill's play over the past few games are putting him into undrafted status. Fortunately for him, he'll have a chance to put up great numbers at the combine. Ty has been very consistent this year. Teams have to game plan around him. Nash has been injured. His single digits might have worked at other schools, but here it looks like it’s backfired. Except for Ty and he’s been inconsistent, it has been a bust time to do away with that
Rhule has recruited plenty of high enough ranked kids. He’s thrown a lot of bodies at the wall to see who sticks. DB injury, DB coach departure, freshman QB struggles, OC play calling….well you see why we’re where we are.I can't see any Husker player cracking the 3-deep all conference team this year, last year I think we had one - Reimer on 3rd team. We're still lacking talent and good coaching in many areas - lots of work ahead to make this program good again. Rhule has obviously stunted the rebuild with some of his assistant choices to date, but what's less known to me is has he recruited well enough over the first 2 classes and the current one to set this program up for success even assuming he upgrades his coaching staff. If there are a lot of recruiting misses in the young talent on the depth chart (i.e. Coleman), its hard to envision a good ending to this chapter of NU football.
Yeah, I am not saying we can land the former starter from Bama or Georgia… I mean land two CBs, or at least one, that starts for us.Everyone wants starter level CBs in the portal though. And I don't think getting in a bidding war is going to do us any good.
