At least he knows he has to do something
We’d be even more pissed if he said he didn’t think he needed to do anything different. 🤷♂️ When your not getting the results you gotta make changes.
At least he knows he has to do something
McBride had to change what he did too. It was players AND his scheme. He was getting OTJ. Satterfield I don’t believe is going to get that opportunity. I think he’s gonna be gonzo. It was the Jimmys and Joes, not McBride. Let’s clear that up.
Charlie not only got faster players, he went to FSU to learn their defense. It wasn’t JUST better players. You had it right.Isn't that what I said? I.E. difference makers.
I'm OK with that... at least it shows motivation and initiative. That is not championship football, I think the only way he gets rid of somebody is if they are breaking the rules/code of conduct by chasing coeds or being a booze hound
Seems NU scoring 1 touchdown total in the first quarter of the last 5 games would be his first clue. We’d be even more pissed if he said he didn’t think he needed to do anything different. 🤷♂️ When your not getting the results you gotta make changes.
Brutal 😂"Coach, how much energy do you devote into getting worse as the season drags on?"
At least he knows he has to do something
Rhule 100% knows the problem but doesn’t want to fire his friends. He has worked with Satt everywhere and it will take the AD to force him to. I just don’t think he has it in him to do it himself.
Some of that had to do with the fact they were running an outdated 5-2 defense. Nebraska always got killed against good passing teams in bowls during that era.
It was the Jimmys and Joes, not McBride. Let’s clear that up.
I wonder what it was like for the ‘83 team’s defense going against Miami. It had to of been a WTF moment seeing all that speed on the perimeter. When they started recruiting some damn speed and skill on defense they got a lot better. McBride went down to Florida and learned that damn 4-3 and put speed all over the field and immediately they started looking like a better defense. 3-4 years later they are National Champions.
Holla
Kosar at QB and Highsmith at RB weren't bad either.I wonder what it was like for the ‘83 team’s defense going against Miami. It had to of been a WTF moment seeing all that speed on the perimeter.

Something we're missing now on defense. When they started recruiting some damn speed and skill on defense they got a lot better. He made his bed hiring his buddies, and owes it to his employer and the people of this state to correct his mistake. If he truly cares about the state, he should feel alot worse for the fans than his buddies who made 7 figures while being terrible at their jobI think Rhule genuinely likes the state, the fans, the university and his players. His body language strikes me as someone who is unsettled because he knows he is letting all the above down. He knows what he has to do to turn it around, I expect he is going to do it, but facing making those changes is depressing for him.
IMHO he knows he has three major problems. Two are going to require effectively terminating good friends he is loyal to....Satterfield and Foley. I expect Foley will be retained and transferred to an administrative role if he wants it. He is only 57 years old (looks older), so maybe he will move on to keep hands-on coaching. I fully expect Satterfield to "seek new opportunities" after the season and Thomas taking over. The third major problem is team focus, which affects the offense and defense as well. It is why the same defensive players and scheme runs hot and cold game to game and within games. Hopefully Rhule will do some self-evaluation to decide he needs to be less of a buddy to his players and more willing to sit guys for next man up to light some fires. Even if it is only for a series or two.
Some additional minor problems include our receivers not being able to get open (while our opponents have guys running all over in space), the seeming "spin the wheel and pick one" running back rotation, and game management as far as speedy adjustments (no need to wait until half) and clock management, timeout usage, etc.
It doesn't matter whether Rhule wants to shake things up or not because Dannen absolutely WILL NOT tolerate losing to less financed and talented teams. Dannen is apparently a hard ass and I have yet to hear him speak when he doesn't mention "winning" a half dozen times.
So...I have been getting more and more pissed and it boiled over at second and goal from the five with three pass attempts after having just run for 6 yards on first down (we got a crappy spot). I cranked my emotion down a bit after his PC today because it is obvious by his cryptic messages changes are coming.
In a roundabout way maybe. But if Dannen gives Rhule more time by forcing staff changes he’d only be following in his predecessor’s footsteps.Trev kinda did us a favor. New AD has no loyalty or skin in the game with Rhule.
Wonder how successful a forced hire with a potential lame duck HC can be (DIACO, Whipple). But I suppose it can’t be worse
No new hire. He’ll call up Thomas. Go out and hire a QB whisperer to fill out the staff. The key is to forge a sustainable identityTrev kinda did us a favor. New AD has no loyalty or skin in the game with Rhule.

Also have to maintain that precious terminology. No new hire. He’ll call up Thomas. Go out and hire a QB whisperer to fill out the staff. The key is to forge a sustainable identity

I think we need to turn the power off in the luxury addition and tell them to suck it up or walkWe’d be even more pissed if he said he didn’t think he needed to do anything different. 🤷♂️ When your not getting the results you gotta make changes.
NO! Doogie has to go too. And Foley. Three. No compromise.Would we all be happy if Satt is ultimately the only coach removed?
But the next episode of ‘Chasing 3’ will make us fans forget all of the issues surrounding Nebraska Football. At this point who gives a shit what Rhule says about anything? It is clear by now that he is just a gas bag whose actions do not match his words. I am so damn tired of ten years of coach speak excuses. Riley/Frost/Rhule are all interchangeable examples of coaches who don’t know how to win but manage to spin things in their favor just long enough to rake in 35 million.
What a scam shitty head coaches are running these days all over the country. Win a few games at “Nobody State” and then get an agent to parlay that into guaranteed $millions up front with seven year contracts no matter the outcome.
Matt Rhule is a scam artist. And the sooner we are rid of him the better.
Satt has never had an offense with ypg better than 60th in the nation, but often in the bottom 10% of the nation. We haven't scored more than 30 against a power 5 opponent. Last year the offense was in the bottom 10%, this year, with "an expensive" offensive roster we will finish in the same area. Preacher Rhule is just giving lip service to get to the end of the season and hope somebody steps up and makes some plays and he can win one more game. There are enough idiots in the fan base, media, and boosters to eat up his con if we get a bowl game. Crazy to think but they could still win 9 games this year, too much season for a major change. That stupid marker of 6 wins when 4 of them are against awful teams, literally some of the worst is so ignorant. We needed UCLA's schedule, start 2-7 to see changes. We’d be even more pissed if he said he didn’t think he needed to do anything different. 🤷♂️ When your not getting the results you gotta make changes.
Add to that how predictable the offense is. Can’t remember which quarter it was but they trotted out Haarberg to IBack and thought to myself I bet they run that play where Haarberg passes to Raiola. Sure enough that’s what happened and got a whopping 7 yards on the play.Satt has never had an offense with ypg better than 60th in the nation, but often in the bottom 10% of the nation. Trev screwed us with paying bum Rhule 65 million in guaranteed just to get his petulant coach hire. Trev is a very emotional decision-maker. He is not thoughtful and he is stubborn. He emotionally fired Scott early, costing our struggling AD 7 million, he emotionally hired Mickey twice, knowing he had been involved in multiple domestic assault situations where one should disqualify you from having your first HC job as HC of NU. He latched onto Rhule as somebody who could help him save face. He fell for Rhule's con hard and gave a ridiculous contract to a coach with no other offers who was just the embarrassment of the NFL, and he did it before other coaches became available so he lost all leverage and bargaining power, so Rhule could barely eek out a top 25 class with his "developmental recruiting". It is such a scam, all of it. We are very lucky Trev is gone but he left NU in very bad shape.Trev kinda did us a favor. New AD has no loyalty or skin in the game with Rhule.

He won’t let all three go. At best he promotes Thomas to OC and upgrades Mozee as WR coach. If you think they’ll be multiple external hires you’ll be sadly disappointed.NO! Doogie has to go too. And Foley. Three. No compromise.
TW was not his buddyHe made his bed hiring his buddies, and owes it to his employer and the people of this state to correct his mistake. If he truly cares about the state, he should feel alot worse for the fans than his buddies who made 7 figures while being terrible at their job
He doesn’t have to fire him. Just remove him from calling plays.
Sure looks like he is still defending Satterfield. The stubborn bast@rd will go under if that is maintained.Rhule now realizes the honeymoon is over. It’s not going to just be he and his buddies cashing fat checks and playing kings.
Maybe it's a way for him to go to his coaches and say, hey I've had someone else look at it and I've got to fire you.I'll take a crack at it coach!!!
Your OL coach sucks
Your special teams coach sucks
Your offensive coordinator sucks
That'll be fiddy thousand for my analysis. You're welcome
I didn’t get that drift at all from what he said. He clearly stated that 18 points isn’t good enough and that what’s wrong is being examined. Every company or academic institution I’ve seen bring in outside consultants did it as a prelude to heads rolling.Sure looks like he is still defending Satterfield. Yep, that is never not the case.I didn’t get that drift at all from what he said. He clearly stated that 18 points isn’t good enough and that what’s wrong is being examined. Every company or academic institution I’ve seen bring in outside consultants did it as a prelude to heads rolling.
Charlie’s defense was underperforming against good teams. Satt’s offense has underperformed albeit for a season and a half. Yeah our QBs sucked last year and we’re starting a freshman this year but Satt clearly isn’t getting it done. I’ve posted before that I don’t think Satt is fixable. That said, you have to let Rhule try to fix the situation. We’ll see if he can get Satt to adjust or if he decides to can him this winter. This is not even close to being the same thing. The offense and defense were still producing at a very high level.
Current state of affairs has us as one of the worst teams in the Big Ten for the last 10 years straight.
His body of work is abysmal. He’s not fixable.Charlie’s defense was underperforming against good teams. Satt’s offense has underperformed albeit for a season and a half. He had one good year early on n his career as I recall. Too bad for him that he never lucked in to a Joe Burrow kind of QB like Joe Brady did.His body of work is abysmal. He’s not fixable.
