Bill Moos needs to get the donors to start ponying some $ so we can stay competitive with the rest of the top-notch programs. I know some people will say NU upgraded their weight room, strength and conditioning, football locker room and player's lounge, and etc 6-7 yrs ago but to get these good players to come here you have to have all the new bells and whistles to compete with other programs. Scott Frost will get NU back to winning so we need to make sure the facilities are good with other top-notch programs.

Skip to 6:20 - 7:30 and listen to Scott explain what NU is lacking.

Here is Scott Frost quote from the interview
"When I was at Nebraska, as a student-athlete you just knew that anything you touch Nebraska had the best in the country, we had the best weight room in the country, the best strength and conditioning program in the country we were 10 or 15 ahead of everybody else on nutrition on academic support we've got a science lab on campus the state of the art unlike anything in anywhere else so that kids can be monitored for concussion and health and we can make sure they're training out in an optimal way those things were the best in the country at Nebraska, consequently we developed players better than anybody once they came to campus, Nebraska did more with him than anybody else and they won championships we're gotten away from all those things we're starting to get those pieces back into place and the student-athletes that come to Nebraska now I want the same experience I had and that's no one they're getting the best and they're making the most out of themselves".

The only thing we can’t do is put Lake Michigan right next to our facilities like Northwestern has other wise I agree we need to stay ahead of the movement.

Maybe an athlete village? Not even sure what that really means but I've heard the term tossed around before.
Ou tried that a couple decades ago. Didn't work out so well for them. But I could sure see the benefit of it. Would be nice if the university could get ahold of some of the ground north of the tracks. Would be better than having all the off campus living for several reasons.

Doesn’t Minnesota have a new athlete village? It looked very impressive.

Couldn't tell you. I can see the pros and cons.

Pros.... keep track, better rooms especially for bigger athletes, incorporate the training table, makes housing available to students in current residence halls, and fill in the blank.

Cons..... separation from the student body losing some connection with the average joe, lack of available land, can't centrally locate it, probably have to do it for all student/athletes to be fair and our stadiums are hodge podge all over the place. Right location would solve this.

Just spit balling.

While I enjoy awesome facilities and upgrades too, I too would like to know where we are behind or what we need to do next? I know our stuff was upgraded in the mid-2000's and again in like, what, 2010? The weight room is still pretty dope, but are we saying we just need a fresh design, new stuff?

When I think of insane facilities, I think of Oregon, but that's mostly just the style of their facilities; substance-wise they have the same stuff as everyone else.

I assume the new coaching staff will maximize the current facilities such as the weight room and training table which will have benefits for the players on the field.

Coach Frost, AD Moos, President Bounds, and the faculty have already worked together to rearrange the team practice and class schedule for the upcoming season.

I am sure Coach Frost, AD Moos, and President Bounds will be able to determine what is needed facility wise for the future after the 2018 season.

Even with the new Big 10 money rolling in...be ready to answer the phone when they call.

I think the fact that our facilties, etc are just as good as everyone else’s is worth exploring. In the past there were the haves and the have nots. Nebraska could dinstinguish themselves from a lot of other programs with spending on facilities etc. With the massive TV contracts and major conference payouts most major conference teams are able to afford top notch facilties. It is hard to have facilities that are clearly superior to other top programs.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. We're getting a boatload of money from the Big Ten full share this year. That cash will definitely help put a new coat of paint on things.

Didn't I see one of you guys post about how the best payout we ever had in the Big 12 was like, 14 million dollars or maybe even 11 million, right before we left, and this year we should bring in 50 million from our full share? Quite the upgrade!

Yeah I kind of agree with that. Other than investing in innovations (like nutrition, the science lab, those crazy machines we have that we literally invented to measure player power and do focused exercises), I think its more about just making sure your stuff is top notch and looks top notch. Again, look at Oregon, what Northwestern is building, etc. Beyond a certain point, you don't really get THAT different in terms of resources, its more about marketing.

Sick & tired of hearing this ****. Facilities had 0 (absolutely nothing) to do with why the team was so ****ing soft last year. The football team doesnt deserve anything better til they show up on the football field

That's is how recruiting works these days. You have to have all the new bell and whistles to get good recruits to come here. Nothing to do with the team being soft last yr and till they show up on the football field.

Winning will make a big difference too. Revenue from merchandise will go up tremendously. I think it's a little bit low right now

Athletes don’t like the special dorm because they live off campus and make money from the scholarship for housing and food. They can live cheaper that what housing and food costs on campus.
Build good apartments and homes that are cheap to rent in Lincoln for atlhletes.

Close in parking next to the stadium is number one. A small store next to the parking lot to get food before heading home maybe.

The last major facility upgrade for the player/recruiting side was the Osborne Complex... a decade ago. The pack caught up and has built similar or better. It was time to upgrade three years ago and our administration did nothing.

I've said here many times. Things like ribbon boards and new video screens and sound systems were nice (and in some cases needed) but not when used as a distraction to what wasn't being done.

The Osborne complex and the lockers need an overhaul.

Move the trophy room and fan stuff out (preferably to a gutted and renovated colliseum as a husker hall of legends museum.) And make the lockerroom bigger and add room for the things other programs have added.

We are 3 years behind (5 really to stay ahead) of facilities building because of our previous admin.

A positive for Nebraska’s football facilities is that they are located close together and very near all the academic buildings.

Need to double the weight room space, increase the training room facilities, add or increase the locker room space by 40%. Add another player break room space, add massage rooms, space for stretching and flexibility work, space for speed work, move all other sports weight and therapy to the Devaney Center.

Nebraska needs to demonstrate and show that it is a leader in concussion research to show players and the nation.

Question. Coach Frost wants to get to at least 150 roster. That would require locker room expansion there, right??

I say do what ever it takes to keep bring in the top talent. If it reall takes overhauling almost everything to bring in the 5 star players every year, then get r done. I’m sure all of you would agree. Facilities gets and signs the big boys and then the coaches mold them into beast once they get here. If that’s what we need to do to get those top 250 players that had us in there top 3-5 but chose somewhere else, then yes, spend the money and let’s help pull those guys our way.

I think there are some plans to renovate the locker rooms, players lounge, areas of NS, etc and by looking at this tweet, they may have started doing some work. Not sure what all of the plans are for sure.

Also, I do know there are some things in the works for a complete south stadium renovation, but the AD is waiting on announcing it with the academic side of the university facing budget cuts. It doesn't look good when the University is announcing layoffs and budget cuts and then the AD announces a $100M project.

I would like to see more fan facilities in North Stadium. Eating and restrooms. More quality food choices is in order too.

Oh, I missed the point here. This thread is about keeping up with facilities for the student athletes. My bad!

Based on “current amenities”...season ticket holders in South Stadium may not have much sympathy for those in North Stadium. Winking

They also have the original locker room in the south end zone.I believe all the true Freshman locker there to start.
Actually, the auxiliary locker room is in the Hawks Center. I believe the visiting team uses the old locker room.

Plus, forgot the Addidas contract of 12.8 million per yr.

Brick up the west side of the stadium so it matches the east side. Locker room needs sprucing up, our wood lockers don't look as cool as the sleek metal ones, or even other wood ones.

How about use a locker room like this until a new locker room is “earned” on the field? You earn it...it will be built? Hmm... Winking
