NU Facilites Falling behind the rest of the Big 10, SEC, Big 12?

I could be wrong but isn't against NCAA rules to have housing specifically just for athletes? I am pretty sure that regular students have to have the ability to live there as well.

I don’t think the athletic village is housing. I just think all of their facilities and stuff are in the same area. But if there is housing, it has to be opened to everyone

Nebraska already has four apartment-style complexes just like OU's Headington Hall. It is not just for athletes, as explained right on the site you linked:

If I am not an athlete, can I live in Headington Hall?
Yes. We will actually have more non-athletes in Headington Hall. Non-athletes love living with us
.

They forgot to add, "Yes, you'll just have to take out the garbage, clean the toilets, and bare the brunt of our adolescent pranks."

https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/big-red-business-the-new-arms-race One of the crown jewels of Nebraska athletics is getting shinier-- thanks to a facilities facelift and a hoped-for achievement of an important milestone this fall.Tucked in the west side of Memorial Stadium on the ground level, the academic support center is about to undergo a $1.3 million makeover that will eliminate a no-longer-needed computer room and add study rooms and new furniture, said Dennis Leblanc, the executive associate athletic director for academics.
The Lewis Training Table -- the heart of the nutrition program -- is receiving $575,000 in upgrades with new carpeting and furniture. But the bigger story there is the recent hiring of Dave Ellis as director of performance nutrition.

Expect more changes and upgrades in the nutrition program, based on Ellis’ comments recently to HuskerOnline’s Sean Callahan.

Instead of NU spending a million here and million there to fix things, just do a major overhaul like Clemson, spice up the colors in the facilities, stadium, add a casing with the different jerseys, helmets, and shoes NU wears during the game, trophies, pictures of all the past and present players on the walls, a new huge cafeteria for the players, an outdoor lounge area with sand volleyball, putt-putt golf, full court basketball, a new indoor lounge area that includes new games, a golf simulator, 2-4 bowling lanes, basketball arcade, a barber shop for the players, a nap room for players to rest, a giant slide, a new strength and conditioning with all new state of the art equipment with a fuel bar, a new locker room, a therapy pool, a new team meeting room, coaches offices, and etc.

The Tigers’ new state-of-the-art football complex, complete with all the bells and whistles costs $55 million -

It's truly unbelievable at the changes that was done to North Stadium under the Pedersen era and now in 2018 it seems like our facilities is outdated which is not.

can you upgrade dorms for football players, without having to upgrade all the other dorms?

or do most of them live other places?

We still have one of the nicest Lockerrooms in the country and have seen plenty of them on YouTube...
They should have made the players lounge a bit bigger than they have...

The Lewis Training Table has been our newest improvement

Does this ever end? What school will be the first to build a mini Disneyland outside the stadium complex? That would be followed by another school building one bigger and putting it indoors.

Quick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time to get hold of the major boosters before somebody beats us to it.

Aesthecially that "state-of-the-art" football complex is pretty blah, it looks like it was built 10 years ago by someone that has little to no design sensibility. If that is the "standard" we really don't need to invest much money to eclipse that or any at all. And even functionally, I think ours is already more state of the art than theirs, I think players would be more interested in our performance lab rather than a sand volleyball court, putt-putt and a slide lol The only thing we may be lacking is a barbershop and I think our weight room needs a major overhaul, I never liked it from second they built it.
