Well you are the one that proffered he should be paid $5M which is a 8+ pay increase
This is a very interesting read from 2 different sites about Sweeney.
In 2007 Sweeney turned down a $ 150K a year raise from Saban at Bama to come to join him as a coach. Sweeney turned it down even though he was the WR coach at Clemson.
The next year, he became an interim coach and then became HC. Many media outlets criticized the decision, including ESPN which called the hiring of Sweeney
a "D+ hire." Sweeney was 38 years old and a WR coach who had never been a Coordinator.
Regardless of the criticism, Sweeney was confident in his ability to accomplish great things from the start.
Belief. It's a powerful thing. Twitter from Clemson football.
When AD Phillips hired Sweeney,
"Many fans were very upset at the hiring."
The most telling part of everything is THIS: In an interview with ESPN, AD Phillips said, "he was impressed with Sweeney's recruiting ability, his charisma, and his relationship with the players." "I liked the way he coached his players, how he was tough on them but was always teaching them and always there for them outside of football. It's not a facade with Dabo. He genuinely cares, and his players sense that."
Phillips said players were always hanging around Sweeney's office when they weren't on the practice field or in class.
"And not just receivers, but players from all positions. Kids migrated to this particular coach, and that caught my eye." "Long story short, I just had a feeling that Dabo was exactly what we needed at Clemson, even though I knew a lot of others wouldn't share that feeling."

The turning down the raise from Saban was from a site, Sportcasting Feb 23, 2022.
Also, I was unable to find the pay increase for him when he went from WR coach to interim coach to Head Coach at Clemson.
