Langsdorf Job security?

Ugggg, so disappointed in many of the calls. Especially on first down. The whole country knew what play was coming on first down and so did Wisc. Basically working with 3rd and 8-10 the whole night. If this was a one game deal I would say ok, not a huge problem. This has been all year. Very basic plays, ones the D can figure out after watching 20 min of game film. I understand Tommy as Qb limits what can be called. At least get some variety, try something different.
Do you think Riley should consider replacing him at year end? Or Im I way off and does it have nothing to do with Langs and is this Riley wanting to play it safe?
Dumbest post of the day

The hardest thing about being a Husker fan is other Husker fans. We should be thankful that we have an OC of his caliber. D1 AD's will be calling him soon.

Ok

Ok pap husker- dually noted.... power 5 AD's?

Still trolling me i see, it isnt going to work. You seem to be....... stalking me? Its kinda creepy, seriously........
Once again since you are too slow to understand: the truth is not trolling, no matter how much you try to convince yourself it is

I would say his job security is pretty high. But I thought it was Banker that had to go? Funny how having some healthy and talented young DLinemen for depth, better depth and coaching at LB and an All-American safety can improve one's job security.

Good grief people. Give it a rest. He has a patch work offensive line and a below average QB that was 12/31 with 2 picks last night.

Not much a guy can do.
If you think TA is below average just wait until you have a statue back there...

I think he has been solid for the most part this year considering the banged up oline and I don't think its a secret TA probably isn't his cup of tea. Glad they decided to unleash TA a bit in the run game this year instead of worrying about him getting injured. Let's see what happens next year when he gets his guy under center.

He has all those things last year for the most part.

Changes: He is coaching a position now...And they changed up their scheme on the back end. Props to Banker for changing.

I get this because TA does a good job escaping the rush. But, he is also to blame quite a bit because he has no idea how to hit the safety valve or go thru his progressions. I'm going to hope, and guess Tanner Lee will get the ball out much quicker next year.

But, statue!

I love reading when people bring up statues, it shows their lack of understanding football.

-Langsdorf has done an amazing job in the less than 2 years he's been here. The guy has came so far.Look at how much he has adapted to the talent that he has. But he can't do anything about not having a healthy O-line. It's hard to call plays without Offensive lineman. That was caused by someone else. Not Danny.

- And screw all this TA bashing. People forget TA has a pretty good overall record @ NU considering the highs and lows of last year. Also look at his bowl resume. 2-1 with wins over UGA & UCLA. The one loss was to USC in which he outplayed now NFL starting QB Cody Kessler and honestly that loss wasn't on TA, it was on a gutsy play call. How long has it been since we've had a QB to consistently when his bowl games? I don't believe T-Mart won 1 bowl game.

Anyone that thought we'd run the table and win a title this year is crazy. This team is outplaying expectations.

Langs is limited on what he can call with Tommy at QB. I like TA but he is who he is. It would be tough play calling with a beat up offensive line and a limited QB. The guy knows what he's doing.

It's weird, almost like fast QBs are the only one to win championships and Super Bowls.

Guess that's why Oregon and Georgia Tech have been winning all the trophies.
Dude...about 6 weeks ago most fans were peeing themselves in fear of Oregon and their offense...now you want to hate on it?

Why would you not want a QB that can throw and pass?

Ganz was pretty decent at both. I would probably put him up there too.
Agree with Ganz. Kid played with a lot of heart and won tough games. High completion % and took a lot of hits. He wasn't really tall enough for the next level though.

Yes he was, from a scrambling or when to tuck aspect, but I wouldn't have him in the same category as the 3 before mentioned.

Yeah, I agree.
I think that a Ganz type is what can really make an offense click. High completion % with the ability to shake and bake.

Finding a freak like the dude at L'ville or Watson out at Clemson is very difficult but finding a QB that can do both, run and pass, at a decent level should not be all that difficult.

As we've witnessed the last several years, it doesn't seem that easy. With the track record our current coaches have with QB's, that should be the last position anyone worries about.

For the first time in a long time, I'm concerned with RB.

Oh my God if I hear anything else about this "beat up offensive line" as an excuse seriously...Where is the depth? Didn't we get a few high 3 and some 4 stars on the OL the past few years? How have those guys turned out? How have we not been able to get an OL in here to replace the ever struggling Utter? Every team is facing injury issues. It gets old to reiterate the same thing over and over again. You make it work with what you have.

Langsdorf didn't get it done last Saturday night. Simple as that.

Funny you say that because I was sort of thinking the same exact thing.

Ozigbo doesn't look like he has become that much better from last year, could just be the injuries. Wilbon seems, I don't know, lost?

Bryant was possibly a better red-shirt candidate.

Not sure Jackson is someone who I would say "can pass".

FALSE. Defenses win Titles. Broncos & Bama both had slow QB's last year but had the best defenses. However, IMO mobile QBs are needed in todays game.

Obviously, having a mobile QB does not mean a team will win a title but drop back slow QB's are becoming a thing of the past. All of the best young QB's in the NFL have some speed. Even guys like Carr have surprisingly good speed. People tend to forget how fast Aaron Rodgers and A Luck are.

Look at how bad Eli Manning's become in the NFL (DL's old QB). IMO Eli's decline from an elite QB in the league to one of the worst is due from the transition from the need to have a mobile QB. Eli has the receivers to throw to. But life is much easier of defensive coordinators when knows that he doesn't have to worry about a QB running. When that elite WR core is being covered, what's Eli going to do? Run 3 yards vs a guy like Mariota who will then run for 10 to 15 and pick up the first down. Then that secondary coverage becomes weaker and now you have guys open.

And there are always outliers. Tom Brady is the outlier to this rule. However, I believe its easier to find a duel threat QB then the next Tom Brady.

Wowza. Eli Manning's decline is due to his lack of ability to run. o_O

Regarding the OP, I can't imagine Langsdorf being replaced. Transition offense and more importantly we're exceeding expectations in the wins category. Will we continue to see this type of offense moving forward? Who knows, but iirc RPO/read-option were not part of Langsdorf's forte prior to NU.

I don't mean this in a snarky way, but Derrion Grim committed expecting to see 4 wide receiver sets. Derrion Grim left because we weren't going to have 4 wide receiver sets (insert your own opinion if you so desire). Your guess is better than mine concerning what our offense will look like in future years, because I don't even have a guess.

It's very very hard to build depth after just 2 recruiting classes. OL are normally developed / starters towards the middle/end of their college careers vs skill position recruits who many times can play some right away.

While we recruited a very good OL class in 2015 and 2016, I don't believe any of them were going to be starters as RS or True-Freshman.

Again, many of them will become great players for Nebraska in another year or two, but none of them are Foster Sarell type recruits. And no, not every team has faced OL lines injuries like we have this year.

He did NOT leave for that reason.

Are you serious?

Where is the depth?

2016 - looks to have the potential to be a great class - all are redshirting. Like they should be.
2015 - 3 kids - all redshirt freshman and have potential. But again, redshirt freshman
2014-
Farmer- hurt
Foster - hurt
Gates - hurt
2013-
Hannon - hasn't developed
Knevel - hurt
Finnin - gone (JUCO)
Kondolo - gone (JUCO)
Johnson - hasn't developed
2012-
Thurston - gone (transfer)
Whitaker - playing as a backup

So you tell me why the o-line doesn't have depth and injuries are hitting us so hard that 3 walk-ons are playing?

The playbook is limited when you can't block.

Wisconsin Defense looked pretty good without 4 starting Players.
I mentioned earlier that a program like Nebraska should NEVER have OL depth problems.
