Game day!! GBR!!

We also need to remember that there is now an OC who is more concerned about the team than his overly inflated ego... Squares never fit in round holes!!!
About the OL... Callahan and Sipple finally acknowledged yesterday that the youth of the O-Line in the last couple of years was a problem. They kept saying the B1G was a grown man's league and the line was young and got overpowered. Finally, someone else recognized this. This year there is a lot of experience compared to last year and the year before. If I remember correctly, there are almost 7 years more experience than last year and 5 more than 2 years ago. Do not quote the numbers but they are close.
Agree regarding the o line. The whole “BIG is a grown man’s league” is overhyped. We are an average to below average league. Definitely worse than SEC and didn’t we go like 1-3 against the Big 12 last year.

My understanding is that Sims's issue at GT was inconsistency. i'm not sure anyone knows whether that was related to his maturity, his team, the opponent, injuries, or all (or none) of these. Nevertheless, he had some very good games, so he's got talent. Hopefully, he'll be consistently excellent for NU. I'm a glass half-full guy tho.
Sims' Oline at GT was hot trash. Young QB who's forced to run for his life every snap is not a good recipe for success or consistency.

Almost every presser Rhule makes a comment "Can't play scared"... How bad was it under the previous regime with them browbeating the players about playing scared? No Fear of Failure seems to be, better not screw up.

It seems Rhule isn’t too worried about if we win or lose against Minn.

I’m sure he wants to win, but knows this is just the beginning.

The QB last year won 4 games...
He was the best passing qb weve had since I have watched Husker football faithfully (2006ish). People will argue about specific stats but the fact is he was a real passing QB with real intelligence, power and accuracy. We havent had that in a long time if ever. The overall team and coaching sucked but he and Palmer were amazing.

With your same logic I could say palmer sucked because he won 4 games last year. Those 2 were absolute studs.

I am excited about Sims. I think our coaching staff is smart to use his strengths and the strengths of those around him for a balanced offense. I dont think he will be as good of a passer as Thompson. I do think the team will be way better overall and I predict 8 wins

His O line was putrid.

Thompson saw Sims and said “peace out, I wanna play” should be a big enough vote of confidence for Sims.

You think he was a better passing QB than Zac Taylor or Joe Ganz?

I agree with all that. At UT Casey only won 4 games. Whipple was the worst OC in team history and did zero to win games, he was only concerned about his stats.

But, the QB is to lead the team. Casey took too many sacks and could have looked for more check downs. He needed to find a way to find the open player. He throws a great deep ball but not very good with intermediate routes. I hope he does well at FAU and can break that streak of only 4 wins.

Zac Taylor was a great QB with average skills. He managed the game and played inside himself.
