Game day!! GBR!!

Jeudy’s stock appears to have dropped. Anybody know what’s up? Or is he in the rotation?

GE is a power back. I want to see him break that first tackle then I’ll worry about his vision. I don’t think we’ll be running many stretch plays where “vision” is primary on the skill set.
And that’s what I fear is his only hope is YAC. Power backs in todays game have to also have the ability to stretch the field somewhat or should only be used for short yardage. We can’t afford a 2 yard average back. And if that’s what we got, sure hope RJ and Bonner get more touches

the guy is a 4.4 back who runs over people. Think of Marshawn Lynch. He isn’t going to be a 2 yard back if our O line is even average this year. You’ve made up your mind but given some of your past evaluations of our RBs it might be best to wait to see how he plays this fall.

we share the opinion above. We definitely share that much. Yes. He’s all those things but unfortunately that doesn’t make him a good back. Processing the game vs Misreading the development. If you aren’t looking at that, then I’m sure he looked nice to you. Let’s not pretend, we both want the kid to win a heisman. 😀

But I need to see him beginning to read things. Until we see that; all the speed and size don’t mean a thing. can he see the field developing? Until he proves it to me, I’ll question it. I did with RJ and he proved it in my opinion. He’s fantastic but at one point I wanted him to move back to NJ. Hopefully GE brings good things to life. : )
He seemed to lack vision and wiggle. It may be just all about power run game this year. Make a hole and hit it!

we’ve already established the size and speed bit. Did you forget? You’re calling me out on past experiences, you can’t even remember two responses ago. LOL.

Lots of guys have good size and speed but can’t process. That’s why there are 5-star recruits that bust. LOL

And again, I hope you’re correct. But he hasn’t proven it. Hopefully he will. You pump Kool-aid every year and how’s that turned out this past last 6 years?

And at least Yant had 100 yard game. Yant best game is more than GE best season

Is there really enough that we’ve seen to be this skeptical right now? He’s barely played the last 2 years…

The coaches sure seem to see something they like. Are they all wrong?

both can co-exist and that’s what worries me

Cubsker nailed it. Guys look good in practice then can’t do it in front of fans. Happens all the time. Coaches will eventually see that if that’s the case

Also could be he isn’t very good but we don’t have anyone better. Recruiting under Held and Davis was awful.

We herd how amazing he looked in practice freshman year

Glad Ervin has emerged. Was not impressed with Grant last year. Too much side to side running looking for a hole and ending up losing yardage rather than hitting the line explosively and getting at least two or three yards.
I thought Grant started pretty solid running north and south to start the season. But seems as the season went on either he was an over thinker it lost confidence in the Oline. Not sure sure. But here's to hoping to Erivin is the next great back at NU

Looks like you can still buy a Yant t-shirt.

Actually I think we need BOTH Ervin and Grant to be great running backs. It's a brutal position with lot's of injuries often during the season so Grant better solve his fumbling issues. Rhamir has a special role and he will see plenty of action as well. So we'll need all 3 IMO.

Sweet. Thanks for sharing. Hell I hope that I get to buy a Gabe Ervin shirt. You all act like I don’t want Ervin to be great. I do. Obviously Yantzee didn’t stick but i hope “GE - we bring good things to life” becomes a shirt. I’d buy if he brings good things to life. I just want us to have a good back. It’s been too long. It really has.

You can’t ignore the correlation between the drop off we’ve seen at RB and the drop off of the program. Ever since Ameer it’s been on a decline. And I’ve liked the guys since Abdullah but they haven’t been like Rex or even Roy. Definitely not B Jax. And that’s just talking about guys post the dominant days. We have lacked at RB too long. we go with our Backs.

My favorite YANT play was when he tripped over his own feet on 4th and goal and cost us a game.

I've seen enough physicality from Gabe Ervin in his first few games as a FRESHMAN to know that he has some promise. It wouldn't shock me if someone unseats him at some point during the season though. It's always weird when there's a "3rd down back" in the mix.

Unfortunately Rhamir just tweaked a hammie😕

I remember Joe Ganz as the underdog recruit who showed up all his critics. I just can't forget all the vicious heap of criticism he got from fans on the message boards when he was recruited. But it really made me feel good when in the end he proved them all wrong.
People actually dogged on recruits? Were message boards different back then?

The RB room will be different this year. Seasons past they were not shown how to be physical but were told how to be physical. This year they are being shown how to be physical and to allow the play to develop. Huge difference in mentality. I know of several instances where Rhule told the team to look contact and dominate, do not run out of bounds. 180-degree difference from the past staff.

Pork Chop was another recruit who received that treatment.
Where there was a vicious heap of criticism? Examples of what was said?

I ask because I've been on this board for quite some time and while some posters (the non-trolls) don't share excitement with some recruits, I don't think I've ever seen a regular, non-troll member display a "vicious heap of criticism" on here.
