Fourth best class in the B1G

I wouldn’t call it a dumpster fire, but it’s still pretty mediocre just from a numbers standpoint.
I might disagree with that assessment a bit, considering the big names brought in (relatively speaking) along with the transfer portals coming in… I know the portal players don’t factor in to ranking. But this is a class that has a chance to be really good.

This recruiting class is a mixed bag - has some high level/immediate contributor prospects and some prospects that will likely never be in the 2 deep. The majority of the prospects will be more in the latter category - but thats to be expected in a transition class like this
Where did u read that from clown

This class started falling apart on September 11th, a day that will now live forever live in infamy.
Must not be much going on with the home team if you created a new handle to try to get under the skin of husker fans. What a moron you are.

Four 4* just from a numbers standpoint is mediocre. Rhule’s had his success developing 3* talent in lesser conferences. What we have isn’t gonna dominate the Big 10 anytime soon.

Two reasons we’ll never compete the way we have in the past…

A) it’s Nebraska. It’s a Big Ask for kids to come
B) we’re nowhere near the top 40 with NIL money, and won’t ever be. Elite athletes will go elsewhere.

We may get to a bowl every few years, but this program and this coach won’t be a ‘perennial contender’ anytime soon.
We also keep firing coaches who are close to breaking through and are in the middle of a rebuild. I mean Head Coach Scott Frost gets fired and we immediately get blown out by Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan...teams that Head Coach Scott Frost competed with, year in and year out.

Gotta build the foundation, and what we see in this class is gonna be some of those bricks I hope…

Eh… don’t wanna sound like a broken record, but I just don’t see us or anyone dominating the Big 10 with 3* talent. Frost wasn’t on the verge of anything but the same. Rhule feels about the same, so far.

I did renew my tickets, FWIW. Not throwing in the towel just yet :)

why don’t you go ahead and make us a list of all of these non-contributors, non two deep players. That way we can go back and see how brilliant of a recruiting anal you are in the future. Thanks

We’re not anywhere close, lol. OSU and MU don’t have ‘a little more’, they have exponentially more. Dozens of schools. This is private donation… are you nuts? Tell me how NEBRASKA ends up top 10 in NIL money? On what planet, lol? It’s just common sense. We are not a wealthy state. We do NOT have wealthy donors, compared to even average power conference schools.
I think you are correct. However, things are also not as simple as this seems. For starters, nobody is under the delusion that Nebraska is going to be a "go-to" destination for most elite recruits, with or without NIL money. That was true even during the Osborne years until the 90's, when the demise of OU and the SWC opened up all kinds of recruiting options for us. We were then and remain now a school that must develop players and recruit to a system. And then pepper into that roster a few high end skill guys.

Therefore, we do not need to match OSU and Michigan dollar for dollar in order to field a team that can compete at a high level. We just need enough NIL money and solid high school recruiting to put together a solid roster. And keep in mind that the highest elite-end recruits are going to be scattered all over the landscape because all of the big market schools will have deep donor pockets and the bidding wars are going to really get insane in the years ahead. In fact, I think you are going to end up with teams like Alabama and Ohio State and USC that will be spending millions and millions on elite players many of whom will end up being busts and/or head cases. It remains to be seen that a roster filled with rich divas and bling kings can produce champions. Look at Texas and Miami for evidence that a roster filled with high end athletes does not always translate into championships.

In some ways I think it is good that Nebraska will not even try to enter into that level of pecuniary insanity. But we will have enough money on hand from donors to target really, really good players in positions of need and at positions like QB and defensive tackle.

So did you throw in the towel under Frost and not renew your tickets? I find it extremely odd that you make that comment with Rhule being here for 4 weeks.

Its a sickness. We all have it. Every year, thinking that we’re magically gonna be good again.

It’s just been a REALLY bad investment just from a money standpoint, going to the games. Basically paying good money to wind up depressed and hungover…

We don’t have to dominate the whole big 10 but we have to develop well enough to dominate the Iowas of the world and compete with OSU and Michigan.

Rhule and staff just put together a top 30 class that is the fourth best in the B1G. And he did that with a short amount of time and not even a full staff. I remember reading something where Rhule said that when he was on the road recruiting it was apparent that the Nebraska brand is still very much alive. I thought when I read that that it had to be an exaggeration. But it isn't. After six straight losing seasons and seven losing seasons out of the past eight, you would be hard-pressed to find another P5 conference team that could still draw in recruits and transfers the way NU can. No... we are not among the elites in our recruiting. And we may never be. But there is no damn reason we cannot compete for B1G titles year in and year out. There was a time that many of us on here remember that a losing season would have been considered a catastrophe. Heck, a two or three loss season was cause for us to say "what went wrong this year?"

Those days are coming back. And the days of losing seasons are over. I am calling it. GBR!
If we start piling up winning seasons, the sky will be the limit as far as recruiting goes.

And with the speed this coaching staff likes, it gives us a chance against OSU and Michigan from time to time. Assuming the speed is developed into sound football players as well.

Nebraska should expect to beat Michigan the majority of the time. Nebraska is historically a better football program. OSU needs to become our Oklahoma.

Not sure how you can say this at this point… maybe we get there under this staff but under Harbaugh, Michigan has hovered around 10 the last several years in recruiting and has beaten OSU the last 2 years…

Spectacular job from Coach Rhule and staff.

Staff really seems to have their shit together unlike any other we've since in many many moons. Time will tell, but an extremely impressive start.

Whatever you say, ace.
Maybe this quote from Rhule will prove to be true…

"With a fan base like this, guys are going to have lots of opportunities to represent different products or different companies. Whatever their name, image, likeness can help them do. I believe when done right NIL is a good thing. It has to be done right. What we don't want too do is have a locker room that is divided. ... And there's a lot of different schools where how they play effects how much money they make. And when you're 18, 19, 20, 21, there's enough pressure playing college football already. To have that burden, that stress, that anxiety if I don't play well what happens, I don't want that for these guys."

More good stuff here. Maybe he’s a snake oil salesman, but if he is, I haven’t seen much better than him.

Scott Frost tried backing out of the Oklahoma game and replacing them with Old Dominion. Did you forget about that?

From 1973 through 1992 Nebraska was 17-33 against top 10 opponents and even worse against top 5 opponents. Michigan is a top 10 team year in and year out as is OSU. Even if we have a legendary coach, a unique system that is hard to prepare for, amazing facilities, fan support, and a system of broadcasts that prioritizes our program above others...we still won't beat top 10 teams but 1 out of 3 times. The 1993-1997 huskers are not the comparison point...but instead the 20 years prior should be the expectation and hope. You can't hope to get the talent and leadership we had on that 97 team ever again.

Scott thought the schedule was already daunting enough and was planning on beginning the transition to power I/option football. He remembered that 9/11 starters on the MNC 1997 Nebraska Cornhuskers were Nebraska boys who were tough as nails. Pre-requisites for Head Coach Scott Frost recruit...tough...Nebraska boy...mullet..tough...full implementation of roster overhaul was to begin 2022-2029.

the staff has done a remarkable job of salvaging this class
4th is about where we have traditionally been in the conf rankings

the depressing thing, however, is if you look back at the ranking points, the 4th place big ten team is usually closer in points to the 10-12th ranked teams than they are the 1st place team - some years the 4th place team is closer to the last place team than they are the 1st

regardless - like what this staff is doing and what they can do with a full year and some wins under their belt

History....Nebraska has been a better program historically. When Nebraska gets back to being Nebraska we should expect to beat Michigan. Ohio St is the one program that is historically an equal to Nebraska.
