Found this. This guy probably describes it best irt what I have been saying. Watch some of these throws. He is a program changer.
Hopefully our receivers can keep up.Found this. This guy probably describes it best irt what I have been saying. Watch some of these throws. He is a program changer.
Yep. That's what I have said. This kid is on a completely different level. I think McCord knows that. It's actually pretty wise for him to look elsewhere. He would have been holding a clipboard.Good lord…
His arm is f’ing surreal. THATS elite NFL talent Potential. Not many QB1s in the NFL have that cannon.
If ours can't, with a talent like this behind C, we'll have no problems finding one that can.Hopefully our receivers can keep up.
DefinitelyMakes me wonder if Rhule/Satterfield are going to “open up” the offense with Raiola. Why have guys like Llyod and Coleman just to run an old fashioned BIG offense?
I'm sure they will....at least as the season progresses. You'd be crazy not to. Maybe if Frsot had a guy like this, he actually COULD make the BIG adjust to NU. LolMakes me wonder if Rhule/Satterfield are going to “open up” the offense with Raiola. Why have guys like Llyod and Coleman just to run an old fashioned BIG offense?
Agree with everything you said. Except I think he has the potential to be a generational talent. Other than a couple of things you pointed out (good observations, btw...), I did notice on a couple of throws, he didn't drive through and finish the throw. Those throws may have very well been the ones you were talking about irt foot placement.Other than the obvious, two things jump out at me....
Whew, I'm not ready to declare him a generational talent but if McCord's dad saw that HUDL video I can understand why he would want guarantees.
- His line gave him better pass pro that I expected, at least based on what I read about that line. He was pressured at times, sure, but it was not as epically bad as I expected.
- His feet are sometimes poorly placed but he accurately lays out the pass anyway. WTH? Go watch some of Taylor Martinez' throws, especially the long ones.....his back is bowed all the way, sometimes to the point his shoulders are almost behind his feet; his feet are planted all over the place. DM will occasionally have his feet planted in a less-than-optimal position but he can still launch at accurate bomb 70 yards. Shit, he tossed a 30 yd pass across his body while being tackled. And the ball was right where it needed to be.
Yeah, one thing I noticed about this clip. It doesn't show intermediate (digs, slants, etc) or deep outs. There are ones I have seen....I'll see if I can find them again. (Those were prior to this season). He can make those throws with very good accuracy.****ing Cannon.
Only thing I hate about videos like that is, I get it he has a gun. Please show me some slants and out routes. Im sure better videos have all the throws but I want to see the guy throw them all
I think one of the strengths of Satt whether people like him or not is adjusting the offense to fit the talent available.Makes me wonder if Rhule/Satterfield are going to “open up” the offense with Raiola. Why have guys like Llyod and Coleman just to run an old fashioned BIG offense?
Agreed. As I said, I'll look to see if I can find a couple a clips I found this spring. This gives you a general idea of what kind of arm talent this kid has, though.Would be more interesting to see a real breakdown than just a few highlights
Bro, trust me. YOU know more about this than I do. And while I'm not ready to call him a generational talent, I can be easily convinced. The narrator made repeated references to Mahomes vis-a-vis throwing style. I think Mahomes has more sidearm than DR, but the savvy part.....yeah.Agree with everything you said. Except I think he has the potential to be a generational talent. Some of this could be simply because he is just so freakish with his arm strength, he trusts that TOO much. It's much easier to "fix" this than a throwing motion, though, imo.
I didn't coach Qb's.....so you probably picked up a couple of things that I may have missed, too.
Still, I am sure a conversation with McCord and family went something like this:
McCord: So, if DR comes here....is he going to rs?
Satterfield: No.
McCord: I better look elsewhere.
EDIT: ..and yes, irt Taylor Martinez. He was almost a textbook example of how to NOT throw a football. Lol

Yep…and physically ready. Ain’t no skinny stick that can’t hold up.Found this. This guy probably describes it best irt what I have been saying. Watch some of these throws. He is a program changer.
We definitely will be on suicide watch if we don’t get this guy.Found this. This guy probably describes it best irt what I have been saying. Watch some of these throws. He is a program changer.
No doubt DR has an incredible arm. Most of these highlights were either of the bomb variety or feature his ability to throw with people hanging on him.
Can he read a D, pre snap, make the line calls, and go through progressions? Those are very difficult for freshmen to learn so I would expect some learning pains in those areas.
I am always cautious watching HS film as it's always hard to tell how good the opposition. I remember similar film out this year with Sims college highlights and how dominate he was in THOSE highlights. I think the thread headline was something like, "This is all you need to know about Sims." I could be wrong.
It will be exciting to see this offense grow, lots of youth all around.
Lloyd would heavily benefit from having DR. Jaylen needs to put in some work still but DR could literally changed Jaylens life completelyHe’s got an absolute howitzer. Clearly the right decision. Malachi and Lloyd are gonna have a monster year.
I would loved to have heard what Rhule told McCord.Yep. That's what I have said. This kid is on a completely different level. I think McCord knows that. It's actually pretty wise for him to look elsewhere. He would have been holding a clipboard.
"Son, you I can work with. Your pops? We need to talk."I would loved to have heard what Rhule told McCord.
What position is the next Raiola?
I imagine he promised that if he beat out his 5 star, #1 freshmen qb the job is his. McCord doesn't want to compete and I don't blame him when there is a situation out there where he can showcase what he is without looking over his shoulder.I would loved to have heard what Rhule told McCord.
So, I'm trying to tell my coworker about the trick play where jacory Myers fakes a run and tosses the TD pass to Adams. No matter how many times I try, autocorrect keeps changing trick play to Chick-fil-A. And I hate Chick-fil-A! LOLAutocorrect......she's a no good.
