In part because our fanbase would have howled if we had hired a no name like Cignetti. Now we’re pot committed. Something in the back of my brain is making me think Trev realized he had blown the hire and was going to get out of town while the getting was good😕. I hope that’s wrong. I hope Rhule makes adjustments and rights the ship.
You could be right......Rhule hired buddies. Don't look for adjustments.

I mean, who cares? Go ask their fans?

PU wants their coach gone. Iowa hates KF and wants him gone after last night. Day is hated the OSU fans...
Big difference is those teams win 10+ games a year....while we continue to feed our dumpster 🔥.

Thing is we had every opportunity to go after a 6th year senior qb ourselves, and would have been able to bring in a tall, physical receiver who can actually block at the same time. If Texas can keep Arch Manning happy behind Quinn Ewers for 2 years, there's no reason we shouldn't have been able to do the same with Raiola for 1 year. And quite frankly Manning has shown a lot more up to this point than Raiola has.
The Raiola’s wouldn’t have allowed it.

That is not how it’s written at all. It’s says that if more than 24 months remain on the contract payments become deferred compensation over the remainder of the term. No university would agree to pay 56 million in 24 months.
That is for deferred compensation, as in retirement account contributions. For his remaining salary:

"Coach shall be entitled to receive ninety percent (90%) Base Salary for
the Remaining Term in substantially equal monthly installments and subject to all
applicable withholdings, until the earlier of twenty-four months after the date of
termination or the last day of the Term; "

This question is neither here nor there

That the perception of this staff after Game 1 has nothing but crystallized in the time since just sucks

I said prior to yesterday that it seemed like our fanbase was collectively grabbing the “Oh, shit!” handle and waiting for the crash

Now that we’re on the side of the road examining the damage, it kind of seems like there’s an odd sense of relief

I don’t expect any major personnel changes. I do hope to see some philosophical changes going forward.

Hopefully our AD is a “run the damned ball” guy.

You really think that? You think he gets fired after year 2 just for missing another bowl? That would be a bad look for us. Who would want this job if we did that? People already think we're a has been joke of a program. If we miss a bowl and fire MR, we'd need to have an Urban/Saban/Smart level hire already in the bag, which ain't happening. We're stuck with what we've got for a while, regardless of record.
Eh that may have been a bit of an over reaction. Hard to say though I think Frost wore out a lot of people's patience.

Yes, minus the current special teams coach. Satt is informed that if his offense isn't in top 50 next year, he's out also.

That's pretty damning right there if a true freshman recruit was calling the shots. It's battered wife syndrome in a nutshell. I'll be worried what the Raiola's think when Dylan could ever manage to scramble for a first down for once. We're not winning shit with a statue qb unless there's a massive infusion of talent at the skill positions.

Seeing HCMR2 return shouldn’t be the question, seeing Satt and Foley return is the right question. Obviously hitting the reset button every three years isn’t working for Nebraska, and over all I have liked the direction we’re headed with the culture, and that is all done by the coach. Satt and Foley need to go though. The offensive play calling is an absolute joke and I won’t even touch on the lack of special teams despite having a special teams coordinator. Watching the Indiana game I found myself jealous yet again over the opposing teams offensive play calling and ability to use their kicking game. Those two aspects really need to change and quick. I would also question the secondary coach, I don’t understand why our corners seem to always be 10 yards off the line, constantly giving up the underneath routs those are easy yards we’ve game up, and our corners awareness just isn’t there it seems like.

Yes, but it will depend on his thought process on doing what it takes with his assistant coaches. I worry that he thinks he can fix his assistants rather than make changes.

Honestly what took out Callahan so soon.

Callahan was a good recruiter and coach he just did himself in favoring friends over the program. Disasterous for both his career and the programs future.

Interesting. But the only reason I’m pretty sure this theory couldn’t be true is because it would require a narcissist like Trev to A—conclude that he was wrong about something, and B—care what Husker fans thought of him. He would have had the arrogance to stay here and make half a dozen bad hires without blinking an eye if that Texas money hadn’t come calling.

no I just want to fire hc's every 4 years and by pass bowls
He needs canned today.....he looks scared and timid. Kind of how,our team plays......hmmmmm

Yes they are paid to win not get woodsheded by a first year coach at Indiana
....****ing Indiana let that sink in
OK, how are we supposed to know that a no name coach from James Madison will outperform a coach that turned around Temple and Baylor at the time they were hired?

They out classed us by a Longshot......INDIANA.....let that sink in rhule fanboys.
You argue like an irrational woman. Cigs is a damn good coach and he knows how to win. He’s always been a winner. He’s never not been a winner. Give the man some credit. Our coaching has some major deficiencies. Both things can be true at the same time. I’m tired of the smooth brained people who say, but, but, we’re Nebraska

Congratulations on being the new official lunatic of this board. Rant, rant, rant. Can only guess you’ve never played organized sports a day in your life.

You know what I really want?

I want the team to be the team that Rhule said it was going to be. Big Ten physical. To the team he said other teams were not gonna want to play, or at least know that they played Nebraska. To be a disciplined program that doesn't beat itself, values the football, and plays a physical brand of football. To be a team the plays with confidence.

that's not what we have 19 games in. I feel like this team is more likely to quit than fight back.

Crazy how much my outlook has changed in 72 hours.

Mine too. It was crazy how I went from a staunch Rhule supporter up until Saturday mid second quarter. Them the post game presser and today's presser have completely shut me off from Rhule. I have no faith he will get this team to where he says he wants this team.

We haven't been hitting the reset button every 3 years. Frost got 7. Mickey fired himself. Pelini had several years. We've been more than patient.

To me, if he misses a Bowl, he has to be gone. I know the buyout number is huge, but losing six in a row to finish just has to be the end.

If he makes a Bowl Game, then he needs to make some clear changes to his program. He is stuck in an outdated paradigm and needs to get with modern college football.

Good lord. I know this crap won't stop and happens at every major college, but it still baffles me.

There are people who expected 5-7 wins before the season and would still be upset if we end up with 8 wins by the end of the year.

At least wait until the end of the season to do this crap... even though that is too soon in a rebuild.

Losing out should cost him his job. Only winning one more should merit some deep soul searching and assistant coach movement.

Yep

He will be here 3 more years at least with that dumbass contract we gave him
We literally don’t do one fvcking thing well

At least that saves me money because I am stopping donations to 1890 and will never give again until we win the B1G

Which will be never… as long as Rhule is here
Seriously?

Wow. If you don’t see the good things Rhule does and has done you’re worthless to us as a poster. But keep the money flowing. We will need it regardless of who our coach is

For sure I’ll give you that but it’s hard to deny that the current regime has done a good job at resetting the culture, he’s working on getting a foundation, and I’ll still stand by my earlier statement, HCMR2 isn’t the one that needs to go, It’s definitely Sat and Foley for sure, and then I’d look at the secondary coach. Unfortunately Nebraska is not the Nebraska we all grew up watching. We have a long ways to go and it won’t nor was it ever going to be an overnight fix, the time for an overnight quick came and went way back in the mid to late 2000s. Agree or not that’s the harsh truth, we need to set the foundation and have a coach that’s not afraid to make a change, I’ll reserve all judgement on that until the offseason to see what is done.

Does anyone truly believe that making Rhule gut his staff will make things better next year? You do remember we tried that with the last guy, right?
