Can't agree with your assessment on the offense... Why did we throw so much? That's what the defense was giving us... When you stack the box as much as they did, what would you want the coaches to do? The run wasn't there like it was the previous week. We hurt them through the air, because that is what they gave us. Was it disappointing that we didn't run the ball like we did the week before? Sure, but Wyoming's game plan was to make us throw. I can't imagine what this board would be saying if we simply ran the ball and continued to get stuffed. For the game we averaged fewer yards per carry than Wyoming, and we had 43 carries for 138 yards. Conversely, we threw the ball 35 times for over 400 yards. How is running the ball 43 times repeating last year? I think we had something like 20 carries per half, give or take.
I only saw the first half, but I'm gonna say Tommy made more good throws than bad, by a healthy margin, just looking at the stats. I saw the int and the near int, and those were horrible passes. But you don't luck into 377 yards passing and 3 tds (I know you aren't say this, but I'm just saying the pass was there and we made them pay for it).
I agree with the rest of your post, but am curious what you mean by the coaches didn't learn a thing from last year.
