Culture? Pffftt

Deion is a complete moron. Culture and team chemistry are everything in cfb. I will shocked if he turns things around there.

I think his genetic blood clot issue makes him step down in the next few years. There's articles out there explaining the seriousness of his condition and I'm sure standing around coaching doesn't help with blood flow. How do you coach from a wheelchair if he does end up losing a foot, or leg?

I think he could coach from a wheelchair - JoePa was MIA the last 3 years of his career.

This thing is gonna implode
Well I guess Sanders has his own methods but we at Nebraska saw the problem with a "less than ideal" culture under Frost. A lot of football success is due to emotion and it's hard to get a positive emotion without paying attention to the culture.

as long as dallas and cu loses, and he knows the canon is closed... I'm ok with neon deon

speaking of prime. The B1G needs to get fsu, miami, clemson and nc...

and the big 12 can get 4 from the acc too...

just like the pac..with 8 teams I think you can blow the acc up...

that puts the B1G at 22 teams, then we either do nd & stanford..or smu & houston

better yet, nw goes ivy and we plug nd in their place then get smu and houston...

in conclusion..
#3 usc & ucla = so. cal recruiting footprint
#2 smu & houston = texas recruiting footprint
#1 fsu & miami = florida recruiting footprint

goodbye rust belt recruiting. (unless there's some real good ones)

Here’s the entire context (for the headline-only readers):

I don’t care about culture,” said Sanders “I don’t even care if they like each other, man. I want to win. I’ve been on some teams where the quarterback doesn’t like the receiver, but they sure made harmony when the ball was snapped. We’re not like that, trust me. These kids are fond of one another.”

It'll be the other coaches faults for not screaming at these kids cause they got the wrong colored socks on.

Sanders is a pretty weird duck but it doesn't make him a moron.

I predict he'll leave the Buffs when his son runs out of eligibility unless he snags a can't miss 5 star stud outta H.S.

When you look at his accomplishments I just don't see how you can call him a moron and mean it.

Running fast 25 years ago and being a moron aren’t mutually exclusive.

I wished he would have got a better offer than CU...he could flame out there, where as a better school/opportunity, he may have flourished. We'll never know as I don't think his health is going to allow him much more time on the sidelines. But kudos to him for having the balls to take that job.

I think you're marginalizing him now because he did run fast. Dumb jock syndrome.

I think you are putting him on a pedestal because he ran fast 25 years ago. The guy was an assistant HS coach, facing charges for starting a fraudulent charter school just a few years ago. The only reason he gets a pass for all his other failures is because he used to be a star athlete.

What little I remember about the charter school thing was that whatever was alleged, happened before Sanders got there...the amount of money involved was way too small for somebody like Sanders to be a part of, and I always thought he got involved in that out of an honest attempt to do right by high school athletes. I thought his heart was in the right place, he just got involved with something that others perverted, and I don't remember anyone ever accusing him of any personal wrong doing...if I am wrong on that it would change my opinion of him though....it's just how I remember it

Accumulating wealth from being a tremendous athlete and shameless self promotor doesn’t make him a genius. He just does things that I can’t stand. At any rate, we will see how well he does with the big boys. I predict a disaster. If he somehow is amazing I’ll admit I was wrong.

Well don't go putting words in my mouth...never called him a genius....and I think the chances of him failing are higher than his chances of succeeding if I'm being honest. I'm just excited to watch it unfold.

If making money and filming a reality show are having your heart in the right place. Those athletes also faced serious eligibility issues in HS and college because of this scheme.

Prime is good at being a shameless pimp. He’s gonna puff up the Puffs.

It seems to me he loves the bag and the limelight more than the game and the brotherhood.

I could be wrong. Probably not.

It will be interesting to see how "fond of one another" they'll be when the bullets start flying... My suspicion is culture may be pretty important to them in week 6 after they've played 3 top 25 teams, 2 of which are on the road... They will very likely be 2-3 or even 1-4 and culture, or lack thereof, will be what keeps or tears that locker room apart...

Yea

Everyone knows if you want the limelight the best way to get it is quit your NFL studio tv gig to go coach high school and HBCU football

Perfectly reasonable choices for bag/limelight hunters

Yep, his evangelical rah rah crap will lose effectiveness during in the press box.

I had never read that article so thanks for posting...curious what anyone else who reads that gets from it. I got the following;

He took on that challenge agreeing to a 40K a year salary. Considering he prolly had tens of millions in the bank at the time, we can rule out he did it for "the bag"

He fought for equal pay (from 40K to 120K) as the guy he partnered with, which he is on recorded video as saying would all go to the coaches on staff because he didn't need the money.

He wanted an equal voting right/say, in how things were done because he knew if that venture was to be successful, it would be because of his celebrity status...which he is correct on, and also tells us none of the issues the school had can be laid at his feet as a 40K a year salaried guy wbo didn't have an official say in how things were done up to that point.

He used his celebrity status to promote the school, which is the exact opposite of a moron...because a "moron" is somebody who wouldn't do that.

So yeah, my original opinion on him is not only unchanged, I learned enough addl info about him there to know for certain he was coming from a good place in his heart trying to help kids and his coaches.

Yep, been saying all along, how's that locker room gonna look when they're 1-4? At least they'll have their social @'s on their practice jerseys!

I was around some of our greatest teams and different positions groups weren't exactly fond of other ones. People have different interests off the field and you shouldnt try to force that.
