Playoff Selection Thread…?

Good lord I don’t understand some of you guys. I hope our conference brethren all win as much as possible. Why? Because these games are worth about $25M each. They keep $15M the other $10M goes in the bowl community pot which gets divided up amongst all 18 teams. So they win the more money for Nebraska
Go Vols. I don't see that money, so

I Dont Morgan Freeman GIF

I'm happy as hell Bama got bounced! we have 4 teams in the CFP, the SEC only has 3. I could actually see Oregon winning the whole thing. There isn't a defense out of the other 11 that can shut that offense of theirs down and if it becomes a scoring fest, no other teams in this field can match it's pace. The yardage between Oregon and Penn St was close but Oregon won by 18.

Huh?

Final was 45-37. A 1 score game. Penn State outyarded Oregon 523 to 469. Penn State ran for 297 yards.

The difference was the 2 picks by Allar from Penn State. Take those away and the game is very much up for grabs.

Bama killed their win equity by losing 3 games, 2 of them to 6-6 teams. They were 21 point favorites against OU and scored 3 points while getting their asses absolutely kicked
Agree...Alabama had 2 bad losses which cost them dearly. They did beat some good teams, which SMU can't say.

Opportunities bud, Penn St threw 2 Int's and even without those 2 Penn St still cou;dn't stop their offense from scoring at will. Difference is, Oregon can score at will when it matters and Penn St can't as was proven. Plus all out speed kills and Oregon ran circles around Penn St in speed as was seen last night. Drew Allar isn't even in the same Galaxy as Gabrial in talent. Oregon has far more talent on it than Penn St as well. It was Oregon's bust on coverages that allowed Penn St to get big chunk yardage on a couple of drives, it wasn't State dominating and manhandling on those plays it was Oregon that shot itself in the foot. Technically this game shoulda been a laugher and an absolute blowout.

Who? Who did they beat? Georgia who is obviously way down since losing Monken and are lucky as hell they don't have 2 to 3 more losses themselves? What overrated 3 loss team did Bama beat besides that now overrated win over Georgia to negate the 2 terrible losses to get in?

He's trying to say the Big 10 only has one quality team. He also told me before the season that Oregon wasn't a fun team to watch when I said I was looking forward to Oregon in the Big 10.
Genius

No one will ever be happy. Back in the day it started with 2 polls... subjective as hell but for the most part it worked out but there was a lot of crying.

Then it went to 2 teams and then 4 and now 12. Everyone bitches regardless of the format.

If it were a 2 or 4-team playoff, Alabama wouldnt be upset - they lost 3 games. Clemson wouldnt be in the playoffs, neither would SMU and they wouldnt be bitching.

It's 12 teams and it is what it is. There will always be someone bitching.

No I didn't bud, take that lyin crap somewhere else. I didn't come back here until early last month. I hadn't been on here in a few years. My 1st post back here was Nov 17th of this year. Well I know now one of the liars of the board are now. Liar on the board and liar in real life. Be proud!

Rules were 4 highest ranked conference champions.

Cry about the results all you want, but the start of the season know one was complaining and everyone were just glad we had a 12 team playoff..
Everybody knew the rules coming into season 1 of the playoffs.
Hopefully they will tweak it a little for a couple years and get it as good as it can be.

I do think matching conference opponents in round 1 is a mistake, each conference, regardless of strength, should have an equal chance to advance. That being said, you just gotta beat whoever you face.

Oregon won by 8 points.

We had 6 losses that cost us dearly, but we're not whining about it. We didn't beat anyone of substance either, unless we want to consider a CU team that completely revised itself as the year went on.

First part is accurate (and obvious)

Would need to see a quote for the 2nd, doesn’t sound like something I’d say.

For decades the KSU, KU, ISU's of the big 8/12 sucked off NU's bowl profits. Now we get to glean money off OSU, MU, PSU, ORE, IA, IND's games that actually pay worth a shit compared to NU's Pinstripe Bowl.

Are you saying SEC champion and overall #2 seed Georgia is overrated and that Alabama's win over them doesn't count much? Hmm, if so. South Carolina (who beat Clemson who beat SMU) is turning out to be a pretty good win.

If I had to bet my house on a game between Alabama and SMU, straight up, I know I wouldn't be taking SMU...doubt you would either.

I was most definitely off on the score I predicted in the Iowa game, but was 1000% correct on what the Blackshirts would do to their offense and what they would do to KJ. We absolutely wrecked that OL and their offense.

PSU seems to have the easiest path to the National Semi-finals. The others have brutal schedules to make it that far.

Texas would have to beat Clemson, Ohio State and Oregon to get to the semi's;
OSU has to beat Tenn, Oregon and Texas to get to the semi's;
Oregon has to beat Ohio State, Texas to get to semi's;
Dame needs to beat Ind, Ga, then maybe PSU to get to semi's;

It doesn't look easy for anyone. If GA beats ND, they have a clear path.

How does anyone who lost 3 games. 2 were to 6-6 teams except to get in a National Championship playoff this shows the arrogance of the SEC .

UGA vs whoever comes out of the left side of the bracket

As it should be

Yes. I am. The SEC doesn't have a bitch when it took their champ (who has 2 losses) 8 OTS to beat an unranked GT lol.

New format favors weak schedules and playing in weak conferences.

But I’m all for the playoff bracket because it’s awesome

Nobody should be ranked till October

I agree on Points 2. On Point 3 the CFB rankings which decide this . They don’t come out before October. But I get your point in General. Have the first AP and coaches rankings then

Love that Bama did not get a gift and I love that winning a title is actually hard now and not just a team that is placed into the final four.

Also, I LOVE ND to wipe the floor with Indiana. 30-7

Some team will have to be really good to win it all.

Games like OSU v. Oregon this year, Bama v. Georgia, Michigan v. Bama last year are fun to watch.

I think TENN at OSU, and SMU at Penn State heavily favor the home teams because of weather.

I still wonder how much the cold weather affected a really good ORE team against a really bad WISC team in Madison had.

Well I hate that song, those Cheeto colored uniforms and the $EC !

Go Bucks!!

Can I ask something? Were you a fan who complained about the way the Schooners and Bonghorns manipulated the conference for years. To the point Tom looked for another option? We’re in this conference and it’s not their fault that our management hired the wrong people. You can hate the conference but only our university is to blame for our history.

TENN are much more adept at running the football than OSU
