Bowl Season Gambling Thread

I plugged my nose and took the Vols. This will be a horrible football game.

Oregon seems too easy, but I took them as well.

I’ve already got Michigan from before the season at 8-1 to win it all, so I’ll sit that game out. Sure would help me if Michigan wins this one so I can hedge the NC game though.

I think Michigan wins today.

Happy new year, everyone!

Early wave looks like this:

LSU (-9.5) vs Wisc: no Heisman winner for the tigers, no defense all season. I’m taking the points with Fickell.

Tenn (-5.5) vs iowa: talk about two programs at the opposite ends of the offensive spectrum. Vols have burned me before, but I can’t quit them & don’t see how iowa keeps up. I’m laying the 5.

Oregon (-18.5) vs Liberty: Ducks by a hundred
I sort of like Iowa over 13. They will have to do a few trick plays, one might hit.
Still like the Vols to win and cover though.

I really like the Ducks. I think I do like Liberty +7 first quarter. I could see them going all out in the first 15...then being down 28-7 at the half.

“Strives to” and “Always does no matter what” are not the same thing

Over time and given the sheer volume of games, Vegas obviously always makes out

But they do not ring the cash register on every single game. Not even close.
No?
I'll bet they do. It's their profession. You think they play it rag-tag, take chances, and gamble all their profit away? They already have the patsies they need, what they do to profit is easy money.
Just need suckers.
There is an old adage about gambling. When people are walking out of a casino you can't yell who won or lost but its a certainty the casino made money.

I am not expressing an opinion, what I am saying is 100% fact.

Before you reply, read this:

And know that there are stories like these 3x+ per season

Those poor, poor bookies.
Don't be so naive.

These are all winners

Final tally - 15-8 against the spread on sides this week, all picks posted ITT hours before first kick. Plus the rice/tex st over.

$50/bet = a tidy $310 profit

And another huge blow to the “you don’t know football” hater/loser crowd.

“No valid points.” “Don’t come here to talk football.” 😂🤣

Are you putting money down on the playoff games?

Of course! I assume someone will start a separate thread, but here are my picks for the playoffs:

Michigan -2
Washington +4 (and +155 moneyline)

I think UW wins it all. Been the best team all season, but no media members went there/can stay up late enough to watch them play so they’re the 2 seed.

Can get them +720 right now to win it all. Juicy!

Am rooting for washington.
Which makes me pick texas.
But im not a degenerate gambler.

Yet.

I broke down and just took Huskies live -2.5 after that TD. M got the win so I’m rolling with the upside down M. Election year= Washington 😄
Washington is the best team from the best conference remaining

Still think Georgia is the best team in the country

I've always heard Vegas' only goal is to move the lines to get even money bet on games, then make their guaranteed money on the rake. I've also heard that's bullshit too though, so 🤷‍♂️

that is their goal

they make money over time and with volume, not because every line is perfectly set

they absolutely lose on single games all the time

there's a reason no casino lists "sportsbook" as their top revenue producer

Pfft if you knew football so well you wouldn't have lost 8 times. 😋 😉

plus a straight up moneyline winner last night (UW +155)

and the Rice/Tex St over

so really more like 19-8 on my picks in this thread

oh, and a +720 future that's now down to +170 (value!)

**please nobody start betting just so you can follow my picks and if you already bet follow at your own risk**
