There'd be 50 + bubbles with 100+ college aged males in each of them. Good luck with that. On that subject, do you remember blowing bubbles as a kid?Let’s try to get back on topic. Have any conferences discussed possible bubbles? NHL and NBA have ran pretty smoothly. I understand these are student athletes, but I don’t think there is any reason they have to be physically in class. Probably not very realistic, but I wanna watch watch some college football this fall.

Where is your proof of wide-scale occurrences of car accident deaths being classified as COVID?How many people that have died from COVID-19 actually died from Covid-19? I know hospitals got a kick back for every person that died of Covid. Something like 13,000 per patient. Car accident? Nope died of Covid. Stupid left. Watch how this all ends after the election!!
Which medical experts signed the letter, vs random clinicians who signed a letter passed around on the internet? Very big difference. It is truly a woke virus. The medical "experts" lost me completely when they penned that letter that stated protesting, rioting and looting for Mr. Floyd was good and would not cause the virus to spread and that protesting lock downs was bad, would spread the virus and evidence of white supremacy. They showed without a doubt this is NOT a serious deal. If we can riot with virtue then we can play football, go to school and work.
No way. Gradeschool kids, all across the state, will be oxygen-deprived and receiving relationship-and-communication stifling face masks, soon. That will fix everything. GBR!
This is a stupid comparison. For soldiers that initiated the landing at Omaha Beach the casualty rate was very high. Once the beachhead was secured, it was much easier for subsequent infantry. Out of the total of about 40,000 troops there were 2000 deaths, or roughly 5% of all troops. For the initial landing group this quote provides a glimpse of the horror:About as trashy as minimizing the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have lost loved ones or their lives due to American incompetency. Ignoring the 160k+ deaths, the peripheral suffering from lack of funerals and hospice, and the long term health effects for survivors is magnitudes worse. Also keep in mind that the soldiers on the beach who sacrificed their sanity to fight that day were also minimized by American society who didn't want to hear about their "mental problems".
It also shows how numbers can be manipulated but it is emotion that matters. Our society lacks a certain level of moral empathy, concentrated selfishness that allows us to demean any occurrence that is outside of a cultural experience. Why can't you understand how dying on a beach alone, yelling mommy, is no different than a person dying in an IC unit with a tube down their throat without getting to see their family, and their family getting to mourn properly? This is a human tragedy, a tragedy, that is being minimized by monsters on this board merely because of unsustainable tribalism.
America has death rates 50x higher than the conglomerate of nations that mandated masks and social policies earlier. And most importantly those nations have opened their economies successfully, including sports. Those nations were also subject to incompetency from China and the WHO, which is real. They adapted, multiple nations, and hundreds of millions of people, and we did not. At least in the case of Covid, the U.S is in league with Brazil, Mexico, Russia, Iran. If you couldn't tell I'm not particularly patriotic but I hope to never be in an alliance with those nations anytime soon. We could let bygones be bygones but...
....And we still don't have mask mandates, even in places with high spread, overflowing ICUs, and high death rates.
The scariest thing, the HIV outbreak taught us that Americans aren't particularly successful with mandates , such as you need to wear a condom to not get a virus that kills 100% of the time. We require really strong public health communication, and really strong leadership from the top to "encourage" us to care about our neighbors and ourselves. This is a uniquely American problem, which leads to our excessive murder, suicide, overdose, obesity, and accident death rates.
Bingo. 850,000+ dead from heart disease in the US in 2017. Think that obesity had a role, kinda like with Covid? But it would be mean to suggest people get healthy. Just demand that all stay home, maybe order some fast food, wear a mask, and save some lives! If you don't mask up in a wide-open Wal Mart, you don't care about killing others, and you're most likely racist. I really hope this is allowed to go away, ASAP.agreed. if you're obese, look in the mirror now.
and thanks a lot.

Well, he's back in town and he'd like you to call him. It's amazing......
On one hand, we have people demanding that HS kids be back in school for in-person learning...even in areas with spiking cases.
Then, we have others thinking that college students can or should should just be totally on-line (without realizing that on-line might not be the best for some college students, either) for the sole purpose of college football being played, and providing entertainment to people that likely never even attended the college.
please go back to 4th grade and touch up on percentages
or maybe it's me!

You can get it and be asymptomatic, and entire population can get it and have relatively weak symptoms if the community viral load is low, and people get a small viral load themselves. America has missed out on that opportunity because community load is very high in some areas and people do not universally wear masks. When you get covid-19 you do not get the same dose as your neighbor. If you get what is termed as a "lethal" dose your chances of going through the chain of symptoms are much higher. If you are wearing a mask you can be inoculated and become an asymptomatic carrier, which is dangerous, but not so much if you always wear a mask in risky situations.
There's no chance of completing a fall season. Millions of college kids are about to move back to college campuses and live in crowded dorms. College kids are not going to stay alone by themselves, they are going to socialize and party. The virus will spread like crazy.
The best hope is for a spring season, and hope that there is an effective treatment by then.
#1: We have to remember that the Italian outbreak in Lombardy was fed by a single open air soccer game with 40k people, no masks. And this particular occurrence was highly pathogenic(deadly).
#2: Open air, maskless spread, can be more pathogenic than we perceive.
#3. Half of a football team falls into a risk group due to weight and cardiovascular stresses. This is unique to football as a sport because many players are designed by S&C programs to be larger than their natural form.
#4: It would be possible if every player wore a visor on the field and masks on the sideline and there were no fans in the stadium. But..players would need to be in a bubble like the NBA.
#5. This is still a community issue because players will come in contact with people outside the program, testing isn't accurate or is too slow. Logically players will get it from sex or the dorms but you can't just pre-kill people because they might make a bad decision and get themselves killed anyway.
I have a very high risk job, and I have to do it so I want football but...this is a community(U.S) failure to control the virus the previous 3 months when we had a chance. Tell everyone you know to wear a mask, get your area down to nothing, tell everybody online to do the same, and maybe we'll get some football at some time this year.
Attorney's are going to decide this. Not science. Attorneys. Fear of litigation whether warranted or not.

Thought the campuses were staying closed? Only online classes? If so Safest place for student athletes to be is on campus. If coaches and staff can’t manage the living quarters or other aspects of the situation. Then maybe we need to find people who are more committed to college athletics. There's no chance of completing a fall season. Millions of college kids are about to move back to college campuses and live in crowded dorms. College kids are not going to stay alone by themselves, they are going to socialize and party. I nominate this post as the most idiotic post of not just the year but the century. Go back to your crib, its time for a nap.Your chances of dying in D-Day were 0.0133333333% if you were an American soldier. Why a big deal? Those guys get too much credit.
162,000 deaths / 4,980,000 cases = 0.0325 or 3.25%
Im not stating any opinion or telling you where I stand on this. Just completely objective numbers.
That’s probably true; however, a President sets the bar for what is acceptable behavior for all citizens whether they are supporters or not. The rhetoric is unbearable in this country and it starts at the highest level. With all that said, I agree with your initial assessment that there are some things that should be off limits.
One thing about it. By flattening the curve we made damned sure this thing would drag out through football season.....and the first week of November.....
It is important to place blame in the appropriate place. The Czech republic mandated masks on March 23rd. They had 300 deaths, and are fully open in August. Southeast Asia has had compliant mask wearing since the beginning of the outbreak and are fully open in August. The pure science says that mask wearing will not completely control cases but will turn symptomatic cases into nearly 100% asymptomatic cases. Study after study has shown that mask wearing takes asymptomatic occurance from 35-40% all the way above 85%. America has 500 deaths per 1 million people whereas mask compliant nations has deaths rates that are 50x lower.
MASKS PROTECT THE INFECTED PERSON FROM BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR KILLING A HEALTHY PERSON MASK OR NO MASK! Most cloth masks have gaps or are poorly fitted. A maskless person will release <5 micrometer aerosol particles many feet away from them that can enter deep into the lungs of an unsuspecting healthy person, even if the person next to them has a mask. This is purely a social experiment to see if an American will wear a mask to protect a neighbor or fellow American. If you want to protect yourself you need a very well fitted triple layer mask that stays dry.
The U.S has an uncontrolled outbreak where the hotspots are arbitrary and unpredictable. Our population has unequivocally acted like children the last 5 months and we are having our toys taken away. Omaha closing schools is a direct reflection of the resistance to a mask mandate and careless behavior of the society. Lincoln as a counter, will have schools open, with compliant mask wearing, because the population has, for the moment, kept the virus as levels 2x lower than their neighbor.
If you are a nationalist, you should be terrified because the vast majority of the world is moving on, their economies are learning to function without America, their militaries are adapting to a world where the U.S is castrated by a virus outbreak. The consensus won't be that China handled this well, many nations are pissed at the CCP, but it will be that America is a joke, that their population is ignorant, petulant, self-serving, and regardless of federal leadership the population as a whole cannot function in a coherent unified manner...relative to other nations. Our adversaries are certainly taking note.
i think everyone would probably agree with this. while playing football the kids have way more responsibilities and less time to go socialize. The problem is this is about perception as much as it is about kids safety and health. And there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to carry the banner for this fact. I think everyone is scared for liability reasons to throw this type of information out there and then have a hospitalization of an athlete come back and bite them. but there is very little discussion in national media about the merits of playing a college fb season other than a financial gain. One thing about it. By flattening the curve we made damned sure this thing would drag out through football season.....and the first week of November.....
I think it would seem VERY logical and obvious that more players who are off screwing around will get COVID than those who are working out and playing football. An infectious disease specialist from the Mayo Clinic stated as much this morning on ESPN radio. IMO, MORE players will get ill from COVID if we DON'T have games than if we do. JMO.
sweden still has a very low number of citizens who have been infected so what do you attribute this data to? and it is a misperception that sweden did nothing. their own health minister has said numerous times they made all kinds of recommendations to the general public but didn't mandate them. those recommendations did affect people's behavior. They confirm their country participated pretty heavily in social distancing from the very beginning

I can't believe I have to do this again........
Deaths per Million People from COVID 19
Sweden- 570
USA- 487
Denmark- 106
Finland- 59
Norway- 47
Iceland- 29
You should also read up on Sweden's response; far different than ours in a number of ways....and not the public "freedom fest" you seem to think it was:

when the united states didn't use masks and stopped their lockdown and opened bars and restaurants the infection rates increased dramatically. so what gives? No Masks
No Lockdown
Restaurants/Bars stayed Open
Children 16 and under remained in school.
If you believed all of the "experts", "scientists", and "modelers", their healthcare system should be obliterated, tens of thousands of patients would not have been able to get ventilators that they so desperately needed, and almost 80,000 would be dead. But nope, they were all so wrong, amazingly wrong. You couldn't have been more wrong if you tried to get the most outlandish doomsday scenario just trying to be ridiculously wrong.
i wonder why they think they need to cancel it now? as far as i can tell the fb programs seem to be doing very well at the moment of controlling infections. im really not sure i understand the importance of the community positivity rate when these athletes will be almost exclusively be spending their time NOT IN THE COMMUNITY
