Sad news. He's leaving to care for his wife who has epilepsy.
Actually not leaving FloridaSad news. He's leaving to care for his wife who has epilepsy.
He’s leaving his job, which is head of the university of Florida college university systemActually not leaving Florida
I knowHe’s leaving his job, which is head of the university of Florida college university system
Agreed. And I will admit that he did one hell of a job as the president at a once struggling Midland College. Not a Ben Sasse fan but he's doing the right thing and wish his family healing and wellness
He handled the student riots on the Israel/Palestine issue really well too. He didn't allow the mob to take over the university.Agreed. And I will admit that he did one hell of a job as the president at a once struggling Midland College.
Pretty close. Close but not quiteMy take: when Sasse was first running for congress, he was a very smart dude who knew history. He had the potential to be a really good congressman. When he got elected, his independence disappeared. He was too conservative for the elites and too elite for the conservatives. Thus, he made everyone mad at him — and had no cache to overcome.
Once he left congress to go to UF, he became independent again. Not surprisingly, he seemed to make reasonable decisions.

Not a sasse supporter but if the alligator is like most universities newspapers, of course they're going to be critical of administration especially when talking cuts.
I know nothing about the guyNot a sasse supporter but if the alligator is like most universities newspapers, of course they're going to be critical of administration especially when talking cuts.
In this case, sasse was not a popular choice by faculty or students due to his party affiliation. I'll venture to say that the alligator has been anti sasse for quite a while and has been working long and hard against him
How dare he funnel money to conservatives instead of to liberals. At least he didn’t funnel the money to hezbollah
That's probably why they're so mad.At least he didn’t funnel the money to hezbollah
He shouldn't be funneling money to anybody. Giving your buddies high paying jobs that don't help the institution or jobs they aren't qualified for is bad. Crazy to think not everybody doesn't immediately think so.How dare he funnel money to conservatives instead of to liberals.
Who did Sasse "funnel money" to?He shouldn't be funneling money to anybody. Giving your buddies high paying jobs that don't help the institution or jobs they aren't qualified for is bad. Crazy to think not everybody doesn't immediately think so.
Is this a serious question?Who did Sasse "funnel money" to?
If his buddies did their jobs well to help UF, what's the problem?
Sasse invented new jobs for his pals and they didn’t even have to move to Florida. He tripled what his predecessor spent in a year and he gave a consulting firm 7.5 million for “work” that nobody can see. I know everyone likes to make excuses for their side of the political aisle, but if you can’t see this as grifting you’re way too drunk on kool aid.
Sir it’s August and I’m fully drunk on koolaid nowSasse invented new jobs for his pals and they didn’t even have to move to Florida. What exactly is wrong with Sasse other than he’s not a Trump sycophant?I'm glad he left our state. I hope he never comes back.
New positions are "invented" all the time. If those new positions were an asset & helped UF, then what's the issue?Sasse invented new jobs for his pals and they didn’t even have to move to Florida. He actually is, though. Despite anything Sasse said while in office, he was voting with Trump at all times. Only voted to impeach when he had one foot out the door and needed the PR. Other than that, the practice of running higher eduction like the mob and bilking all of the money out while not doing any actual work was NOT invented by Sasse. It certainly isn't a practice isolated to a political party, that shit's been going on forever all across the spectrum. What exactly is wrong with Sasse other than he’s not a Trump sycophant?
Did you read the contracts or know anything about them? Go through their budgets, or just believed an author that seemed really butt hurt about staff not living in Gainesville. The value of their homes was important to this story.Sasse invented new jobs for his pals and they didn’t even have to move to Florida. This would only be true if Sasse changed how he voted because of Trump. He actually is, though. Despite anything Sasse said while in office, he was voting with Trump at all times. Can you give the board your Cliff notes on the contracts and budgets as time permits? ThanksDid you read the contracts or know anything about them? Couldn't be the comprehensive review toward strategic priorities from over 200 campus stakeholders to allocate resources. These are hundreds of millions of dollars. Their athletic department took in another 30 million.
