Another Iowa football player gambling and suspended. Ha!!

"Well yeah but everyone else is probably doing it too.". 😭 😢 😭 Poor KKK.
Haha! "I mean, a lot of people speed, so like, we should just rethink it and not have speed limits because we could probably fill our stadium with all the people that speed so like, also, we could save money because the states would not have to buy speed limit signs and cops would not need radar guns, I think this is just common sense stuff that we need to rethink. And like, sexual assault happens, a lot, so like, maybe that should also be something we rethink:"

Love that rather than taking responsibility he just says the rules need to be reviewed for today’s times and blaming others that weren’t investigating. Good look and winning combo!
Maybe the real problem is that they were caught wagering on their own team one way or the other…

Maybe...but any CFB who is gambling on CFB is so much more likely to be corrupted and it isn't a stretch to think if he sucks at gambling and loses more cash than ge can afford...that he could be talked into throwing a game to get "even" for the year. Its why you cannot allow it. Period.

I'll agree to the extent that I believe there isn't a major college football program that wouldn't be in jeopardy over gambling. However, I don't think the DCI or NCAA did anything wrong in this instance because I'm certain the Iowa compliance office covered this with all incoming athletes and the athletes knew what they were doing. I want to believe this couldn't be true at NU but I vividly recall Irving Fryer doing some really odd things.
Like running the wrong route on the two point conversion attempt against Miami in the Orange Bowl with the national title on the line

I believe the play all along with a sprint to the right throw it to the running back Jeff smith and it would have worked had the Miami linebacker wouldn’t have slipped a as he was going down his hand or finger deflected it. The more glaring play fryar was wide open for a TD pass and it went right through his hands. Friars actions we’re similar to Ronnie Harmon in the Rose bowl, there was wide. Speculation that Ronnie helped throw the game with numerous fumbles

Agree with this for the most part As an Iowa fan it sucks losing Noah for the year, Seems like a really good guy but as you said Iowa like every other program has compliance and educational seminars on gambling. So he knew there could be consequences.
Need to learn more on the DCI aspect in regard to complaints of targeting specific groups for crimes and ignoring the same behavior from other groups.

I've had professional contact with DCI investigators at the Council Bluffs casinos. Pretty professional lot from what I could tell, but I've been surprised before.

If you remember TO warned frost and several other players to stop going to the boats in council bluffs in 1997 it could have been 95 his redshirt year , it wouldn’t surprise me one bit frost gambled on Nebraska football games
But my guess is he would have been betting ON NU

Geez, if you're going to make an accusation, at least get the facts correct. It was not a two-point conversion attempt

As others have said, I don't feel overly sorry for anyone that is being punished as they were explicitly warned about this routinely. I think the rule is dumb especially for people like Shannon. He bet on a women's BB game and you get suspended for the year? I totally agree if he was betting on his own football games but this doesn't seem like the punishment fitting the crime.

He is not being punished for what he bet on. He is being punished for betting.

You and your head coach need accept responsibility and not follow it up with BUT.

Also, face it, if he bet on one game, he bet on 1000 more. Just like everyone that bets.

I used to work in the industrial world. At some food processing plants plants, if you spit in the parking lot you were banned from the facility. The thought being that if the punishment for spitting in the parking lot was so severe, then there is no way you would spit inside the plant.

Athletics can only survive if there is no question on the integrity of the game. Gambling on the game/throwing of games would ruin the sport completely. So the punishment of calling into the question the integrity of the sport by gambling on the game needs a severe punishment. And ‘spitting in the parking lot’ needs to be punished as well, to keep people from spitting inside the facility.

That’s one thing even the pro keep a close eye on is gambling. If you don’t have some type of punishment football will turn it to what boxing was with Don King
