I’m all for gambling in Nebraska. But I’m sure glad we don’t have the phone/online sports betting available. Players have been gambling for years. It’s incredibly stupid. And now with NIL, they have some money to spend. It’s an inexcusably dumb thing to do.
Hopefully this whole thing will be a good wake up for students and coaches of other schools. I’m sure the program preaches no gambling. But this is a great case study to show the players. Don’t gamble. And if you do, don’t do it with a phone that can be tracked.

There isn't a team in the country that doesn't have kids placing online bets. The NCAA can dig as deep into this as they want to. At the end of the day if they aren't placing bets on their own teams who cares. It is funny that Iowa of all places is getting dinged on this.
I don't care if our players are doing it too so long as it does not affect their play and they do not bet on Nebraska. But I am pleased as punch that this has happened to Iowa. Ferentz is a classless and boring drone who hasn't won crap. And for that reason I hope Iowa keeps him until he is 105. Rhule is going to bring Nebraska back to being highly competitive. And so long as Ferentz stays at Iowa they will not beat us again in the foreseeable future. Riley and Frost are gone. The racist klan gamblers are going to be our doormat.

Illinois offense isn't that great (they do have some good WRs though), but their front 7 on defense is elite. It will be hard to run the ball on them again this year.

Gambling is the reason any football games are so popular..
This is one of the dumbest things the NCAA has ever done, and that is saying a lot. Consider yourself lucky that you don't have an over-zealous state auditor in your state. My guess is this is a problem across the entire country with every program.

I'll agree to the extent that I believe there isn't a major college football program that wouldn't be in jeopardy over gambling. However, I don't think the DCI or NCAA did anything wrong in this instance because I'm certain the Iowa compliance office covered this with all incoming athletes and the athletes knew what they were doing. I want to believe this couldn't be true at NU but I vividly recall Irving Fryer doing some really odd things.
