To say sam hoiberg is not a good basketball player, it would mean not watching him actually play basketball and simply judge him on height and skin color.
He is GOOD.
He's great within his role for sure. Versatile and relentless. Wish he could hit a few more 3's. Watching his defense in these intense home games is a thing of beauty. It's like someone is on the sideline shooting energy into his veins. To say sam hoiberg is not a good basketball player, it would mean not watching him actually play basketball and simply judge him on height and skin color.

Fred was sucked into his old NBA ideas when he took the job at UNL. He thought Matt A's recruits would take him to the promised land. Once he put together the proper staff of assistants, turned over the defense to Nate L. and watched how his old top asst. at Iowa State turned things around in Ames immediately with toughness and playing defense, things started heading in the right direction. Fred isn't stupid and was willing to adapt. Unfortunately Frost was too stubborn to change and doesn't have the mental capacity that Fred has.Hoiberg and Frost are quite the case study. Both were absolutely terrible their first three seasons, but one was able to adapt and improve.
For the most part it has taken some patience, Fred first 3 years were really brutal finishing 7-25, 7-20, 10-22..glad to see the mayor succeed. he seems like a good dude. the game is not all about him. his calm demeanor is refreshing as well. good on N for hiring the right guy.
