15th Rank UCLA comes into the Vault now as 2.5 underdog

To say sam hoiberg is not a good basketball player, it would mean not watching him actually play basketball and simply judge him on height and skin color.

He is GOOD.

We have a lot of stupid casual hoops fans. They only tune in when they hear we’re playing a ranked team or game of significance. They don’t watch/listen or pay attention to the rest of the games NU plays and don’t watch a single CBB game outside of Nebraska until the NCAA tournament.

Their opinions are more worthless than the sidewalk turds UCLA has to step over to get to practice everyday.

He's great within his role for sure. Versatile and relentless. Wish he could hit a few more 3's. Watching his defense in these intense home games is a thing of beauty. It's like someone is on the sideline shooting energy into his veins.

Hoiberg and Frost are quite the case study. Both were absolutely terrible their first three seasons, but one was able to adapt and improve.
Fred was sucked into his old NBA ideas when he took the job at UNL. He thought Matt A's recruits would take him to the promised land. Once he put together the proper staff of assistants, turned over the defense to Nate L. and watched how his old top asst. at Iowa State turned things around in Ames immediately with toughness and playing defense, things started heading in the right direction. Fred isn't stupid and was willing to adapt. Unfortunately Frost was too stubborn to change and doesn't have the mental capacity that Fred has.

For the most part it has taken some patience, Fred first 3 years were really brutal finishing 7-25, 7-20, 10-22..

After year 3 I was vocal about wanting Fred gone. I was dumbfounded that he was somehow worse than Tim Miles? Was 100% convinced Fred was gonna get us back to the NCAA a likely get us that elusive 1st win. After year 3 I was questioning everything I thought I knew 🤣 How TF did Fred Hoiberg just totally forget how to coach basketball? Thank god we gave him a long leash and some time.

Crazy how we wasted 2 years and a lot of money trying to give Frost enough time and support to figure it out. While more time and support was exactly what Fred needed. Weird…
