Overcoming adversity and a thank you to RSS

So a while back I made a post about giving up. The response from the people around me to include RSS was honestly just overwhelming. I have recently been able to get my life back to a meaningful purpose and have confidence in myself. I really want to say thank you to those who reached out to me and gave me some real support.

On the good news front I was able to buy a house and my sorry self is going to be getting married on the fall. I know buying a house is not a big deal to some people but to me it is. I didn't have the joy of living in a house until I was 19 years old. Didn't have a bed until I was 12. So I honestly didn't think it would ever happen. Very crappy feeling as I couldn't understand wtf I was doing wrong. The truth was, I wasn't. I just didn't understand the right way to do it. Getting this house is a dream come true for my family and myself!

So let me say thank you one more time as the people here actually made a difference in my life and touched people that don't know anything about this site.

OT:. Japan

As I mentioned in the GBR everywhere thread, family and I have a trip to Japan coming up once school is out.

As this board has impressed me with the number of world travelers I guess I'd ask for people that have been to give ideas of must do, waste of time, overrated, underrated, etc.

Will be in Tokyo, Nikko, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima (including Miyajima).

Wrestling: Nebraska grabs four top two seeds for B1G Championships

The Nebraska wrestling team claimed four top two seeds in the upcoming Big Ten Wrestling Championships this weekend in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The pre-seeds were determined by a vote from conference coaches as they rank the top 14 wrestlers from every weight class. Listed next to each weight class will be the Big Ten allocation for automatic seeds for the NCAA Championships.

125 (9): No. 2 Liam Cronin
133 (9): No. 12 Kyle Burwick
141 (9): No. 3 Brock Hardy
149 (9): No. 11 Dayne Morton
157(10): No. 1 Peyton Robb
165 (8). No. 10 Bubba Wilson
174 (7): No. 2 Mikey Labriola
184 (9): No. 7 Lenny Pinto
197 (9): No. 2 Silas Allred
HWT (9): No. 14 Austin Emerson

Really cool to see Allred all the way up at No. 2 in his redshirt sophomore season. Surprised Lenny Pinto was seeded as No. 7, but he should win a couple of matches in his weight class. I'm going to predict that the Huskers match last year's number of NCAA qualifiers at seven. Cronin, Hardy, Robb, Labriola, Pinto and Allred should all make it in.

I'm thinking one of Burwick, Wilson or Morton will make a surprise run and grab an automatic seed. Of the three, I like Wilson to do that more. As a whole, this Nebraska team was built for the NCAA Tournament. They have four guys who have a legit shot of making the semifinals - including two that are in the top two in their weight classes.

Coming off its best NCAA Tournament in years in 2022, Nebraska has a great shot to eclipse that mark and put together one of its best postseasons in program history.

Baseball Live Thread BSB FINAL: Nebraska 12, Hawaii 3

Nebraska is back at it today as they face Hawaii at 3 p.m. on BTN+ in the second game of the weekend at the Cambria College Classic in Minneapolis, Minnesota inside U.S. Bank Stadium. The Huskers started the weekend off on the right foot, upsetting No. 7 Vanderbilt yesterday thanks to a late home run by Garrett Anglim in the 8th inning while Shay Schanaman continued the bullpen's streak of scoreless innings with three shutout frames of his own. The bullpen has now gone 16.2 innings pitched without giving up a run. Here's the recap from yesterday:

Today, Wichita State transfer Jace Kaminska takes the mound for his third start as a Husker against Arizona transfer Randy Abshier - another lefty. He's 0-0 and owns a 2.45 ERA in 7.1 innings pitched. In case you missed anything or want to get caught up for this weekend, here's the series preview:

We need a Fullback, highly rated potential Fullback Transfer

Transfer Portal is opening things up for retooling a roster. Rhule says we will be using a Fullback so maybe we can get a good one. The #1 rated Fullback in the 2019 Class was Jax Dineen who went to Kansas St. KSU changed Offensive Coordinators and no longer using the Fullback position. He was 2nd Team All Big 12 in 2021. I'm expecting him to enter the Portal at some point. 5-11 260+ athletic freak. Would be a great punishing Lead Blocker plus has nimble feet and can catch passes so not 1 dimensional. He also has deep ties to Nebraska as his dad grew up in Omaha a Husker Fan and his cousin Mitch McCann was a Walk On linebacker for the Huskers. He still has grandparents, aunts, uncles.... that live in Nebraska.

We need a good Fullback, who else might we be able to get for next season?

Here the announcers say he reminds them of Husker Great Tom Rathman

Baseball Live Thread BSB FINAL: Nebraska 5, No. 7 Vanderbilt 3

Coming up at 11 a.m. on BTN+ we have the opener of the Cambria College Classic inside U.S. Bank Stadium between Nebraska (3-3-1) vs. No. 7 Vanderbilt (6-3).

It will be a battle of the aces as LHP Emmett Olson (1-1, 4.22 ERA) vs. LHP Carter Holton (0-0, 4.91 ERA). It'll be a test for the Huskers offense as Holton has a 92-95 MPH fastball and is projected to be a top MLB draft pick. It will be the first ever meeting between both programs.

School pride...

Do your kids go to the same school you went to? Do you have pride in the school your kid/s go to? Do you follow the athletic teams of the school your kid goes to?

For me the answers are; no, my kids to go to school in Lincoln. No, all Lincoln schools are the same to me. And no, I couldn't tell you anything going on in class A athletics in general.

Does anyone else find it difficult to care about/get it involved in your kids' school? I did much more with my kids' schooling when we lived in Hastings and Columbus.

OT: Stolen Valor

Long story short, I've got this guy at work who claims to have served in the marines. I myself never served but can not stand a liar, especially about military service. Asking those who served how I can find out if he did or did not. I have gathered all the info I can from the guy but every time I search, literally nothing comes up tying him to any military service. I have buttered him up with asking about rank, where he trained, ect. but when I asked about what company, division and he started to stumble and started searching hard on his phone for answers.
