Again, we should caution everyone from overreacting to what I believe is likely a freakish one in 1 million type of cardiac arrest event, likely caused by the rare combination of a thump to the chest at precisely the right time in the heart beat cycle.

However, if you go back a couple of decades and look at the players’ shoulder pads, they certainly looked bigger and thicker.

I don’t know all kinds of changes have been made but it looks to me like they’re more formfitting and smaller today, but I’m hoping also not less protective. Maybe that was done because they realized that reduced shoulder separation and dislocated shoulders or maybe just make players lighter on field… I don’t know, but what about the impacts of hits to players with smaller pads . Obviously it’s not some huge problem or we would see this more often but does it warrant review?

Javonte Jean-Baptiste was a signing day commit to OSU over NU. He only has one year of eligibility remaining, but I wonder if NU would have a look. He played well in spot duty in their semifinal game.

Here's our first version of the 2023 scholarship distribution chart. For now, we'll just go off what the official team roster says for the players' classes and positions. Let me know any changes that need to be made and we'll get them corrected.

One thing you can hang your hat on with Rhule. He doesn't give two shits about what anyone thinks. He's offered kids with no-stars and hired coaches that have minimal experience. I can't tell you if it will work, but he's confident and has big balls. Count me in as a fan.

We are having dinner at my father-in-law's house today. My wife's brother is a good guy, but he's now been divorced 2 times and only 36 years-old.

On Thanksgiving, he had a 23 year-old girlfriend who was living with him. She moved out in December. On Christmas, he brought over an ex- wife, who has 2 kids with him. They were allegedly going to get "back together."

Today, he randomly brought over some blonde 40 year-old that he met yesterday at Twin Peaks. And just to set the record straight, she didn't work at Twin Peaks. He met her at the bar.

She is from Uraguay.

My wife gets so pissed off about all the chicks he introduces to my kids. I said, Im envious of the all the strange he gets each week.

The bond between Matt Rhule and Terrance Knighton is strong. It leads Knighton to believe he’s ready for the biggest coaching job of his life.

Several things really struck me last night watching the Bills/Bengals game and the tragic situation with Damar Hamlin.

1. No matter how big and strong you are, on the inside you are a human and in many ways, the emotional makeup of these players is just as fragile as anyone else.

2. There's a certain level of brotherhood and humanity that these NFL players displayed last night that's completely the opposite of what you're told by the race baiters in the media, on blogs, and in academia. When you work hard with people over a long period of time, the race of the people working together becomes irrelevant and is replaced by pure friendship and respect in most cases. What you saw last night is the only reason that the world doesn't fall into a state of complete anarchy.

3. No matter how talented, famous, wealthy, or tough you are, no one is prepared to see someone, especially someone close to you, lying on the ground dying. It's something that takes a lot of time for people in the military, police and firemen, and medical people to be able to handle, especially for a young person.

Enjoy every day as it's your last, and love the ones around you.
