Klatt likes CU and NU

1. Colorado

2022 record: 1-11

Klatt on why the Buffaloes will be climbers: "Look what they’ve been able to do in the transfer portal. Deion Sanders is crushing recruiting. He went to a place that doesn’t generally recruit well, and he has made them a destination. They are crushing it in the transfer portal, they are going to totally transform their roster. They will probably have 20-25 new players and most of them, if not all of them, will be better than what left. Colorado is absolutely gonna be a climber next year. They will have a new quarterback, they’ll have a new coach, they will have a totally different identity and attitude."

2. Nebraska

2022 record: 4-8

Klatt on why the Huskers will be climbers: "They’ve got a new coach, and we all would say Matt Rhule is a really good coach. He has done a nice job in coaching, and he will change the culture. Every time he’s touched a college program, he was able to succeed. I think he’s one of the best coaches in the country. Can they go from four wins to eight wins? You bet."

The Texas connection is strong with this staff

And now here's another move that will show Rhule's intention to recruit Texas: sources tell FootballScoop that Rhule is working to hire University Interscholastic League athletic director Dr. Susan Elza as his chief of staff in Lincoln.
As Rhule's chief of staff, Elza will represent Rhule in all off-field matters and serve as his right-hand in building the program. While Elza will not do any off-field recruiting, she'll be an important part of the on-campus recruiting experience while, most importantly, making Texas high school coaches comfortable putting their players on a plane to Lincoln in the first place.

Building a program

When the recruitment process was going on everyone was talking about building a program. Discussions were really around coaches, assistant coaches, coordinators, the need for strength and conditioning and nutrition Et. Very little discussion, as I recall, centered to all the off field staff that Rhule would be adding or replacing within the department. It surprises me how many people and positions are involved with the program. I wonder how many simply are replacing existing stuff who were terminated and how many are new. It’s also clear that Trev felt like we needed a complete housecleaning.
