Basketball ***Live Game Thread: Nebraska 85, Indiana 68 (Final)

Starting up the live game thread for tonight’s contest between Nebraska and Indiana.

Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. with the game being shown on FOX.

Pregame reading:

Looks like NU will have everyone available. Buyuktuncel isn’t even listed as questionable, so that’s positive:

Here’s Indiana’s availability report. Rice, a 6-3 guard, being questionable is something. He’s a starter and averaging 10.3 points per game while shooting 41% from 3:

This whole thing is so fascinating

Nebraska and many other teams are combing the ranks of 3-4 year players from non-P4 schools who were maybe 5.2 to 5.4 guys out of high school, but have grown and developed into these guys who get selected in the NFL draft in rounds 4-7 and end up being good pro players. The guys from Bowling Green and Fresno are classic examples.

The DT from Missouri is a traditional transfer as he has a coaching connection, but the transfer strategy seems to be a slight shift from just the throw offs from big time programs to adding a number of the best players in the smaller programs. We've had some success with this with Buschini, Toure, Bly Hill (maybe), but it seems that there's more evaluation and emphasis now.

It’s going Well?

I looked at the Portal roster from Nebraska. There is a lot of Talent on that list, but not much production.

I am Danny Kaelin’s biggest fan. I wish him well and feel he’s doing the right thing for him.

I would have liked to seen Coleman stay. Lots of rumors and gossiping towards him though. I don’t have any inside information but he is great talent with real potential. But zero production to replace. I wish him well.

There are so many WR’s in the Portal I don’t see an attempt to change his mind.

J Butler and Nate B I’d like to have back. Looking at the rest of them, again some real talent there but little production to replace. The Portal offers a great opportunity to upgrade, if 1890 has the money.

GBR!

MLB news trade season Cubs trade for Tucker

The Cubs made a splash Trade today trading for Kyle Tucker from the Astros and Sent Issac Paredes, Hayden Wesneski and first round pick Cam Smith to Houston.

That probably means that the Bellinger/Yankees trade is very close to happening is my guess as well.

I figured Parades would be on the way out at some point, just didn't seem like a great fit in Wrigley.

Bowl Game Predictions

The Mighty (yet oft underwhelming) Cornhuskers face off against the dainty, feathered Eagles.

Boston, a miserable train ride, or a risky 3.5 hour Uber transit to Yankee Stadium. Or travel across the brutal winter winds of the Midwest.

Who shows up with greater fanfare? Do we expect the baseball Mecca to be 1/2 empty, but 80% red? Or will the liberal elites of the east coast decide to show up for a Neanderthal display of power and grit?

Also, can we fend off a middling opponent from the middling ACC?

Another 4 star edge coming to town

Login to view embedded media A busy weekend is set for four-star transfer edge rusher Kameron Olds, who will begin his weekend at Georgia Tech and end it as Nebraska.

The Kent State transfer is slated to visit Virginia Tech and Virginia next week and LSU next weekend, and it will happen all as he completes finals while trying to find his next home.
