Solution

After the Indiana debacle, I bet my friends each $20 that Huskers would not win another game this season. I would argue yesterday was predictable to anyone who has paid attention to Husker football for more than 10 years. We play down to competition (UCLA) and, conversely, play up (Ohio State) to competition.

We will likely play Iowa and Wisconsin close, but after what we saw yesterday, they would have every right to beat our faces in. We are a very mentally weak team.

Brett Haskell has done more damage to Husker sports than any coach. I will die on that hill. She is may no longer officially be with the program, but the residual mental cancer embedded in the psyche of football is evident. She is still on the website. https://huskers.com/staff/brett-haskell

Our players, other than Barney, Butler, and Shavers, are regressing. It’s sad. It’s not solely the play calling. We have mental cancer.

I am not watching until it’s changed. The SOLUTION is to get a proven psychologist. Make it mandatory that the starting personnel and coaches see him or her. Its all mental.

“Baby Mahomes?”

I get the likeness and the nod to Patrick for the similarities etc., but now Fox is broadcasting the Nebraska and Indiana game as “Baby Mahomes Dylan Raiola and Nebraska take on Indiana” bla bla bla.

Should Nebraska continue to ride this coat tail, or is someone on the “Mahomes” side going to start getting upset with this, specifically new “baby mahomes?” 😏

The level of stupid on this board

Is really amazing. People think we won’t win another game this season….same people who’ve never accomplished anything in their lives, they’re the epitome of losers.

We finish the season 7-5 or 8-4. The team showed up today, despite everyone’s opinions. This isn’t Scott Frost. ****ing give them a chance to succeed.

UCLA playing our schedule

If UCLA played our schedule...
UTEP: win
Colorado: win (maybe a bit closer though)
N Iowa: win
Illinois: win
Purdue: win
Rutgers: win
Indiana: loss
Ohio St: loss

So records can be deceiving. NU was never a better team despite our record. NU is also 2-5 playing their schedule coming into the game.

My larger point is this loss really shouldn't be a surprise. Our offense is anemic. We need Satt to be replaced. Raiola has arm talent but is showing us there are deficiencies in his current game that he needs to work on and opposing staffs are exposing it. Haarberg should get more playing time, as should Kaelin.
Yes, this might have been the most winnable game left on paper. But they also run a scheme and had a game plan that worked perfectly against us with players that can accomplish it.
It's entirely possible that we match up better against the remaining teams than we did with UCLA. But again, we need to fix the offense to have a chance to win those games.

The devil is in the details....

The players deserve their fair share of criticism around coming out flat/not caring for 37 minutes yesterday. Plenty of posts talking about it.

Here's my question/criticism of the coaching...

If the staff had the team prepared they would make plays, appear fast and appear to care more.

Rhule said we just couldn't handle the zero blitz package. Now, I can see that being an issue for a series or two but not being able to adjust means the coaches didn't consider that teams might do that with our young QB. It means Satt didn't pull Raiola aside and make actionable changes during the game. It means we didn't adjust our play calling. For all we know, they did consider it but in the end, it was a massive failure and their adjustments fell flat.

Just like last week with the screens, the coaches don't appear to have an ability to adjust in game or understand the short comings of the players. Good coaches do and they call plays that their players can execute and they don't call players their players can't. Why didn't they consider our WR's can't block the screens. Good coaching would...

During the zero blitz's it wasn't like it was disguised very well. My dumbass could see when it was coming. If the coaches prepped Railoa on some basic audibles that he could execute, it might have made a difference. And yes, I am not a coach and we all tend to under estimate what coaches do and how hard it is but in the end......

Other coaches do it....Satt needs to go.
