Casey Thompson - How many of the previous 40 Neb Seasons would he have started?

I thought it interesting and maybe a microcosm of the state of Neb Football at this time. C. Thompson is Neb’s best quarterback option this year and one of Neb’s best offensive players this year. But -how many years over the past 41 (since 81’) would Thompson have been the most talented option at quarterback on Neb’s roster? See list below. I count maybe 5 years where Thompson may have been a more talented option than those who did start those seasons.

So - yes Nebraska needs help on both lines but they also need an infusion of talent at the skill positions. Also -Nebraska has been fortunate to have some very good quarterback talent over the past 4 decades.

This is the cold hard truth....

Most of our defensive lineman should be playing on our Oline. They all are serviceable on the defensive front but would be a serious upgrade in talent than what we have now on offense. Nash, Robinson and Feist should probably have been moved early on in their careers. It's just sad. TV doesn't lie. The effort that is given by some of the offensive lineman is just pathetic. It's suppose to be all about "team chemistry" but if you asked me. I'd love to see Garrett Nelson light a couple of those Olineman up once.

The Secret Sauce to Competing in the B1G ...

It's NO great revelation whatsoever although apparently Nebraska coaches can't seem to figure it out which is what makes the situation in Lincoln so frustrating. The secret sauce simply is concentrating your efforts FIRST on developing the OL and the DL. We need to hire a head coach that has demonstrated he knows how to do that. Clearly Bielema learned that from his previous stint in the B1G and it enabled him to turn Illinois around in short order almost upsetting Michigan today which of course blew out Nebraska the week before.

Big morning in Lincoln for the Huskers who need to win out to become at least co-champions of the Big Ten. For what they want to accomplish (B1G title and top four seed), each game is a must win. Based on warmups, everyone looks good and ready to go. I'm expecting Kennedi Orr to start once again as the other setter in the 6-2 system.

Football NU defense has core of young talent to work with at all three levels

The next coaching staff has a solid core of young talent at all three levels of the defense. I try to explain it all right here:

Football Snap Counts and Grades: Nebraska-Wisconsin

Comparing the Huskers' snap counts and grades on offense vs. defense was...not great. Nebraska tied for its season low with 49 offensive snaps (had the same number against both Illinois and Michigan). Casey Thompson and Trey Palmer were the highest graders while Turner Corcoran was the lowest-graded offensive player for the fourth time in 10 games this season.

On defense, it was a different story with several players who graded out well. That includes Colton Feist, who finished with 10 tackles, and Malcolm Hartzog, who continues to show flashes of being an exciting young player.

OFFENSE:

DEFENSE:

My source is for the Inside

So many Rumors and sources offering the Coach to be hired. They’re all guesses at this point.

So I’ll provide one to show how crazy things can be. I haven’t posted the info that I was given this week from my Guy. His wife was a career person in the Athletic Department. She’s retired now, and I’ve known them for years. Through her information, he offered this insider’s nugget of assurance.

The new Coach will be this guy:

They have almost always been right in the past.

I don’t have anyway to guarantee his story is true, as no one else does either. So again, it’s just another crazy rumor because I have no way to validate it.

Until Trev let’s us know it’s all just fodder for discussion and speculation.

But it does help pass the time, and allows for a little fun with the what if’s.

Recruiting New Nebraska offers from Wisconsin game [UPDATED 11/19 4:49 PM]

The last few home games Nebraska has offered a handful of players while on game day visits. I'm tracking a few players like 2025 DL JuJu Marks, 2024 Colorado OL Gage Ginther, 2024 Illinois ATH Chris Darr Jr. and more.

We'll keep a running tab here of the offers that come out of the day.

Marks did get his offer on Saturday.

Matt Rhule tweet that means nothing when it comes to the Nebraska job

It took me a second to piece this one together. Was confused at first. Matt Rhule tweeted "#OOU" last night. I believe this was in reference to Joey McGuire beating Iowa State last night to get Texas Tech bowl eligible. McGuire was Rhule's TE coach at Baylor in 2017 and 2018, and McGuire was the associate head coach/OLB coach in Rhule's last year at Baylor in 2019. OOU stands for "One Of Us" and was an acronym Rhule has used throughout his career.

Edit: I should've added a SIAP because you guys were all over the Rhule tweet last night:
