Rota Spain Help

Husker friends - a long shot here but maybe the stars will align.

I’m currently on military travel and mistakenly left some items of mine at the PAX (on-base air terminal) in Rota Spain this morning. My stuff (a small binder) has been located but I seem to be at a crossroads in terms of finding a way to retrieve and ship the stuff to where I will be.

Is anyone on here stationed on Rota or otherwise know anyone there who would be willing to help?

Thank You!

Coach Search Lance Leipold tabling extension talk with KU

Lance Leipold reportedly has a contract extension on the table but has not yet agreed to it. And Kansas insider Mike Vernon reported Thursday that Leipold is putting off extension talks until “later,” and that those discussions won’t come until “likely after the season.”

Volleyball Maryland knocks off No. 5 Ohio State

Huge news from College Park tonight as the Terrapins upset the Buckeyes. Maryland dropped the opening set, but won three straight. 16 blocks for the Terrapins including 10 from Anastasia Russ.

As a result, Nebraska once again controls its own destiny for the B1G crown and a top four seed in the NCAA Tournament. Let the chaos ensue. Screen Shot 2022-11-18 at 7.58.12 PM.png

Urban Meyer already talking up the opportunity for coaching in Nebraska

Look at this guy already laying the ground work for his arrival:

Cliff notes:
  1. Nebraska has history, fan support and resources to bounce back
  2. It will take the right coach who can recruit nationally and get kids to leave their homes due to its location
  3. Time is running out, so Nebraska needs to go with a proven winner this time around who is going to get it back on track ASAP
  4. He loved the times he was in Nebraska and loved to be amongst the fans
  5. He was a fan of TO and what the Huskers use to be in his youth
  6. Nebraska is a job that is as good as it gets
He is pretty much saying he is the right guy for the job and would love to coach at Nebraska.

Long story below:

“Well, Dave (Revsine), you're right — especially for the older people that grew up in the Tom Osborne era, where they were the Alabama college football,” Meyer said. “And they had great players, high draft picks, couldn't stop the black shirts on defense. You know, the corridor between the Southwest Conference, Big Eight, the Big 12 that corridor of football between Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Nebraska, in my early adult life, that was the best football in the country. National champions, Heisman Trophy winners and you just see some of this happening right now. First of all, the breakup of Oklahoma, Texas leaving, Arkansas not in that conference any more and then a school like Nebraska that’s having its recent struggles.

“So you know that they had an identity in Texas recruiting and California recruiting and when they made the move the Big Ten, you're now playing teams, obviously in the Midwest and East Coast and the families in Texas and families in California, you really don't have that much interest because you don't get to see your kids play. I know they've had success in New Jersey before but, you know the recruiting footprint of Nebraska really has to be identified and evaluated.”

“Nebraska is one the most unique fan bases I've ever experienced,” Meyer said. “One year when I was a coach at Ohio State, I asked one of my guys that worked with me, I said take me around a little bit. Let's go incognito a little bit. I just wanted to walk around and I kind of did you know? I put a hat on and just kind of was in disguise and I just wanted to watch this because I grew up watching Tom Osborne and watching Nebraska win national championships. I was a big fan and so the fan support is as good as there is in America. They're great fans too.

“And then the game starts and they're still there. They're there all the way to the end. They're as courteous fans as you can imagine. So I would imagine that this is just one of things, it’s a speed bump. They got to get going, but you just wonder to at what point will it ever start to dissipate a little bit? I can't see it because the ones who grew up watching Nebraska and I've witnessed it first hand several times on that field, those are as good fans as there are in America.”

Tradition Coalition truly pulling out all the stops

I really don't want to say who told me this for fear of getting them in serious hot water, but let's just say if anyone is gonna know it's this guy.

So apparently, TO is fed up with how poorly our searches have gone. He knows that at a place like Nebraska we should be able to do better. So he's just gonna take matters into his own hands. He is taking over as HC, a la his stint as AD, with a three year plan to personally mentor Mickey as the next HC. Don't shoot the messenger. But Trev did say we would be blown away.

Almost game time. I know interest is very low in the game, but I double-dog dare you guys to read this. So now you have to:

Football Mickey Joseph on the radio: "It’s looking like Casey is going to be ready to go"

Mickey Joseph joined 'Sports Nightly' on Wednesday and hit on a number of topics, including Casey Thompson, Richard Torres and more:

Comparing Boards

I rarely go over to TOS, but I made the mistake today (got on for the $1/year deal so this it's free). They crap they post as articles is all just guesses stated like they know something but can't say too much. The board over there is a joke with non-stop rumors and people all acting like they know more than they really do.

I'm beyond happy to have stuck with this board and articles of substance. There aren't 4 articles a day, but when they come out they have actual valuable information.

Coach Search Trev Alberts updates Nebraska coaching search

Trev Alberts provided an update on the Huskers' coach search tonight during his monthly appearance on "Sports Nightly"

"Things are going well. We are where we had hoped to be. We're confident as we move forward. Obviously, we don't have anything to be announced here tonight, but just really pleased with the process, the amount of data and the amount of work that we've been able to do. Looking forward to the day when we can (announce a new coach)."
