Has basketball maxed out?

I freely admit upfront I do not follow the sport but notice headlines from around the nation. In the past decade nothing has really changed in the top tier teams outside of coaches who retired in top programs and now they are looking for identities. The teams on top are still on top, the team's in the middle are still there and the rest are looking for ways to win.

As long as I can remember (I am 60) NU has sucked at the sport with the women's team being hit and miss in the tourney. Every time the sure fire hire is signed, they fizzle out and it's lather, rinse, repeat. Hoiberg seems to be the only hire I have paid attention to and he is flaming out...

How does NU even begin to become relevant in the sport? I think their facilities are fairly new but didn't seem to dent the problem. Top tier coaches do not sniff the program so they are destined to find up and comers and pray they do not jump ship when a better job comes along. What does Trev need to do to get the sport to mediocrity and then to respect? Is it worth the energy to get it there?

How long has it been since the bench was a real friend/threat?

Looking at Ruhle's vision, he wants #'s. 100 guys on scholarship, got to get to 85. He's looking at spring football as an NFL training camp. Competition is going to be fierce. It's a total contrast to the entitlement that's been going on for years. Compete or go home!
This spring will be a bloodbath. I don't think you'll see touch football for the spring game. GBR!

Volleyball Mac Podraza transfers to Penn State

Penn State and head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley continue to load up for the fall as they land the most coveted player in the portal in setter Mac Podraza. Podraza was the 2022 Big Ten Setter of the Year and a 3-time All-American while at Ohio State.

This comes after Penn State got the commitment of All-Big Ten outside hitter Jess Mruzik who transferred from Michigan. After a down year for its standards, Penn State should be in the thick of the Big Ten title race in the fall.
