Casey Thompson...

Dude was watching game film yesterday. And had played with a partially torn labrum since the Georgia Southern game. I have been impressed with Thompson since he arrived at Nebraska but I'm even more impressed now. Rhule's #1 job is to keep him in the fold. Thompson, along with improved o-line play and all that comes with it, is the fastest path to 6 or 7 wins in 2023.

Lincoln Kienholz

A few interesting facts about this young man: 1. Dream school is University of Nebraska. Lots of family in Nebraska which gives credence to his name Lincoln. Related to the Vedrals. 2. According to his family member, he was one of the first recruits Matt Rhule called. 3. He played QB in 8th grade on varsity team. 4. Best sport could be basketball. 5. Ohio State plane picked him and his family up in Pierre and flew him to the Michigan-Ohio State game. Offer followed along with a $2.5 million NIL incentive. 6. Several SEC teams are on him inclusive of Alabama, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss. Alabama QB coach was at several of his games.

It’s Refreshing to have a Coach with a Strong Work Ethic

“The future of Nebraska football is not hanging on one decision, but is hanging on the accumulation of day after day after day of great recruiting, great development, great coaching, great teaching and we’ll just try to say, 'What’s next?' every day."

~Matt Rhule

I also liked his comment about how he was going to rip his suit off after the press conference and start recruiting.

His entire press conference was perfect, and I am really excited to see where this goes.

On one final note, I think Deion Sanders and Luke Fickell are fantastic coaches who will continue to be successful. However, yesterday’s press conference convinced me Rhule—who I consider to be the same caliber of hire as those two—is the best fit for our program. He is a natural for our program.

Genuine Excitement

I think that (with everything that is going on), the genuine excitement that Coach Ruhle and his staff have for being at Nebraska is being overlooked. They are immediately photoshopping pictures to have Nebraska logos and changing their profile pictures on social media. To me, it is a completely different vibe than the past few coaching changes and they are really excited to be here and to be successful for an enormous fanbase. Their previous two college stints are at places that didn't have anywhere near the fan support as Nebraska and I think they are relishing the opportunity.
