Decommitments - Strategic?

Forgive if this is a topic that has been discussed in detail. But it occurs to me that some of these decomits we're seeing might be happening in order to explore or enhance individual NIL values? If I'm a highly sought after student-athlete at a University that had a coaching change, I'd explore the transfer portal to see what sort of value the incoming staff places on retaining me. Not unlike what happens in the working world. These are similar to free agents now. I just wonder if some of these decomits are really "soft" decomits looking to up their NIL offers.

Michigan will not have a let down today because

They are stronger and tougher than the Giant Killers.

I agree with the IN staffer (can't remember who) that wrote Michigan is the model for Nebraska not Ohio State. Last night watching Utah just destroy the fancy USC Trojans was another example of that.

This is what excites me about Rhule the most. I'm tired of trying to outfancy the opponent. I want to get back to the days when we told the opponent what play we were running and it didn't matter.

Volleyball Game Thread No. 2 Nebraska vs. Kansas

It's the border battle between Nebraska (25-5) and Kansas (19-10) tonight in the Round of 32 here at the Devaney Center. Don't underestimate the Jayhawks who pushed No. 1 Texas to five sets back in September. Kansas looked pretty impressive last night in sweeping Miami.

Nicklin Hames was dressed with the setters and appears ready to roll. She'll be a much needed addition for the Huskers in the most important part of the year. Assuming Whitney Lauenstein is back to 100%, you could see the lineup NU used last week against Wisconsin.

Going to be a fun one here at The Bob.

ICYMI from last night

Here's what Matt Rhule told Malachi Coleman during in-home visit..

This is the message I received from Coleman following his visit with Rhule today:

"He’ll get me where I want to go," Coleman said. "I’m going to have to trust him, in which he’s done an amazing job. He thinks that I can be a building block to make this place special again."

So far, the Lincoln (Neb.) East standout and state's No. 1 player has planned visits to Nebraska and Michigan coming up.

Matt Rhule Appreciation

Regardless of how good of a hire you think Rhule is, I think that it is safe to say that this guy will do well here.

You don’t bring a level of professionalism, humility and knowledge to a rebuild at a top tier program such as this and not have success. It is going to take time, but this guy just gets it.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the transfer portal this off season, however, I am very excited to see what he is able to put together in year one and to see the level of play improve.

I am pumped!!!

Maybe it’s the big red alcohol spiked Kool-Aid flowing through me right now but I think we are headed back to national relevance for the first time in at least 10-12 years. Matt Rhule will bring in the dogs on both sides of the LOS and develop them properly. I’m excited to see who he brings in as the DC and OL coach. Better times are ahead my friends! Gbr nfm

Recruiting Where Nebraska's coaches are going Friday to start contact period

Today marks the first day that college coaches can go out on the road and visit recruits. They can visit high schools and also do in-home visits. The new staff will be very active during this period so let's start keeping track of where they are going based on what we hear at Inside Nebraska.

The coaches are starting local:

>> Matt Rhule is going to in-home tonight to visit four-star ATH and recent decommit Malachi Coleman.

>> We've confirmed that OC Marcus Satterfield and ST coach Ed Foley were at Omaha Westside this morning. 2023 K Tristan Alvano, 2024 WR Jaylen Lloyd, 2024 ATH Caleb Benning and 2025 LB Christian Jones all hold offers.

Before anyone asks: yes Matt Rhule and Nebraska tried to contact QB Zane Flores. He is not interested and happy with Oklahoma State. There will be other QB movement though. I expect new QB offers to go out and for other QBs to be visited.
