Five Nebraska volleyball players were honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in the All-Region Awards announced on Tuesday.

Merritt Beason, Andi Jackson, Harper Murray, Bergen Reilly and Lexi Rodriguez were all named to the AVCA West All-Region Team.

Additionally, Rodriguez was named the West Region Player of the Year. Rodriguez is the third Husker ever to be named AVCA Region Player of the Year, joining Kelly Hunter (2017) and Beason (2023).

The Sterling, Illinois native is the first libero to be named an AVCA Region Player of the Year since the AVCA started recognizing region players of the year in 2017.

Rodriguez earned her fourth AVCA All-Region honor and will now look to join Kadie Rolfzen (2013-16) and Sarah Pavan (2004-07) as the only four-time All-Americans in program history.

Beason received the third AVCA All-Region honor of her career and second at Nebraska. Sophomores Jackson, Murray and Reilly were all part of the AVCA All-Region Team for the second year in a row as well. All five Huskers were also named to the All-Big Ten First Team last week.

AVCA All-America teams will be announced on Wednesday, December 18.

The Huskers will face No. 23 Dayton in an NCAA Regional Semifinal on Friday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center, 30 minutes following the conclusion of the 6 p.m. match featuring No. 7 Wisconsin and Texas A&M.

It’s just going to come down to who has the……..

Most money and support staff to manage all of this chaos. HS recruits and their development is literally out the window, you either get aboard or you get left behind.

It’s a boon for any college kid, look at the QB transfers, teams are now one year stops, developing a HS QB is going to seem archaic and redshirting kids is now a crap shoot, you more than likely won’t have them for multiple years, a dam shame but his is what it has come to.

I see the same schools will be back for their next 1 year QB……..Iowa, Purdue, Wisky, Minnesota, Indiana, Rutgers, FSU, Miami, ole miss, Auburn, the list goes on and on, it’s just nuts.
