Don’t forget Sims quit on his team at GT

Was cleared to play and decided he didn’t want to return to the field because the team was bad.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a repeat here. Or a nagging “injury”. The guy shrinks when the chips are down.

Casey consistently rose to the occasion and continued to LEAD through adversity. Roster management in the spring cost this team 6-7 wins.

Rhule’s first strike. Keeping him in the game is strike two, IMO.

It could have been us.

I see what Sanders is doing with Colorado and I can’t help but think it could have been us. It’s still too early to pass judgment on Ruhle, but it seems to me that the infusion of talent Colorado received would have happily followed Deion to Lincoln.

Nebraska football is, like the state itself, very conservative. Flashy hires aren’t the Husker way, but in this day and age, maybe it should have been. I’m not a fan of Deion as a person, but you can’t argue with the results through two games. Colorado football is now a must-watch, while we continue to sink into oblivion.

I’ve been a diehard Huskers fan since I was 7. That’s 50 years. I’ll always be a Huskers fan, but I’m so tired of losing. I’m tired of being a joke. My son attends the University of Wisconsin. I never considered becoming a Badgers fan, but I may change my mind about flying up there for the game in November.

When we hired Ruhle, it was the solid, safe choice. I just don’t think that works anymore.

Wife gave me green light to last minute road trip to Boulder….

But it would require me to drive from Fort Worth Texas leaving at 9pm to get to the tailgate at 8-9am then overnight stay somewhere and drive back home Sunday morning 11ish hours…

Should I stay and watch it at home with my brother in my new man cave in 4k with my new 4k tv or should I take the midnight train to Boulder???

“Should I stay or should I go?!?!”

Deion "Prime Time" Sanders

Coached by Bobby Bowden. Coached by Barry Switzer. Played against Tom Osborne coached teams. One of the best DBs in the history of the game. Could actually recruit Florida. Would command immediate attention in recruits' living rooms. Understands special teams as he was an elite ST player as well. Much faster and more explosive than Scott Frost. Has actual swagger and can back it up. Has real charisma and won't need a marketing team to make comic books about him. Motivator. Former teammates include a bevy of NFL Hall of Famers. One of them could be his DC in Ken Norton Jr. OC...none other than Billy C himself back to accept an in-person apology from Scott Frost and coach up the OL like the old days.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Guess who would be reunited in Lincoln? Maurice Washington and Deion back together for another go!

CALLING MY SHOT: This game will be like 2010 Missouri

I am laying myself at the mercy of the football gods by saying this, but I just feel it in the air...

Most people remember the 2010 Missouri game as Roy Helu's record-setting 307 yard performance. I'm not predicting any record breaking performances from this year's team haha, but I do think the context and (hopefully) outcome have a lot of potential similarities...

That Missouri team was one of their best ever, and they came into that game flying high after beating #1 Oklahoma. They were 7-0 for the first time in 50 years, they were ranked #6, and they had a QB who was in the Heisman discussion. Nebraska, on the other hand, had a new QB in Martinez who had proven to be a dynamic runner but was a wildcard in the passing game.

So what did we do in the face of all that massive hype on the opposing sideline and uncertainty in our offensive direction? We punctured the hype balloon by running the motherf*ckin ball into the heart of Missouri's defense, right off the bat, and over and over and over and over all game long. We found instant success running right at them, got up immediately, made some defensive stops, and just stuck with what was working for the rest of the game. We had 47 rushes and only 12 passes. Whatever sort of momentum or hype that Missouri had going into that game, our simple offensive gameplan just didn't even allow it to materialize. We smothered it. If it wasn't for Helu's gigantic runs, it probably would've gone down as a pretty mellow little afternoon win!

I'm not going out on a limb here saying that should be our gameplan tomorrow, I think pretty much everybody has been saying that all week, but for some crazy reason I just have this feeling that it's actually going to work, and work really well. Rhule is going to reassure us that he's a different breed than the other coaches we've had recently.
