Quarterbacks- Past and Present

We’ve had some great QB’s in our history but this season has made me think at seasons when we didn’t have quality QB and how our season eventually ended..

I remember back in 1967 and 1968 we had Frank Patrick was 6-7 had a strong arm but wasn’t mobile and Ernie Sigler was just adequate and wasn’t asked to do so much..Until Devaney recruited Tagge and Brownson in 1968 the team went from being 6-4 and 6-4 to 9-2 and eventually National Champions..

Callahan, had Joe Dailey to start and Jammal Lord was Solich last QB before he was fired..Callahans teams had two decent QB’s Zach Taylor and Joe Gantz that you could hang your hat on and be successful..

Pelini best QB ‘s were Joe Ganz senior season and Taylor Marteniz and Tommy Armstrong and for the most part they were good enough winning you game and making bowl games.

Riley had Tommy Armstrong which I would be ecstatic to have a QB like that now..

Majority of Osborne teams that didn’t have that it factor at QB usually didn’t win the conference title.

Rhule has his work cut out and needs to find a QB for next season and be the starter the following season..

Realize it’s just not the QB it’s the trenches too. But the winning teams have quality QB that stays with them for 2-3 three years.

Football Indiana fires OC Walt Bell

Tom Allen and Indiana have parted ways with OC Walt Bell today.

Bell has been in Bloomington there since 2022, so it was a quick stay. His Hoosiers' offense never ranked higher than 10th in the B1G in scoring and 12th in total yards.

Bell's QBs were Connor Bazelak (now at BGU) in 2022 and Tayven Jackson/Brendan Sorsby this year.

QBs are important.

As it stands . . . .

* There are four more possible wins+ on the schedule.

* There is not enough D1 P5 talent on this team

* Rhule knows he needs to recruit better players, and he was tactful as to how he said it in the PC so as not to diss current players.

* HH is a serviceable QB for at least the remainder of this season. Not a high ceiling, but he may develop further.

*Iowa's offense still sucks way worse that NU.

* More roster flipping will occur in the off season.

*Apathy isn't new. It's been here. Six wins would create positive concern.

Football Column: Nebraska football, a $710 million renovation project, is still years away from true contention

>> The Go Big Project: $165 million

>> Paying for the Scott Frost buyout: $15 million

>> Matt Rhule's salary: $74 million

>> Rhule's assistant and support staff salary pool: $7 million

>> The massive $450 million renovation plans to Memorial Stadium

All of it adds up to approximately $711 million to try and bring Nebraska football back to national relevancy and becoming a real contender again.

Michigan just showed the Huskers just how far they still are:

I’ll Give Rhule a Pass for Today

This was Rhule’s fifth post Frost game. I predicted 42-7 loss with friends. There was no winning this game.

However, this Michigan team is who we used to be for decades, and the job before Rhule for recruiting and coaching is now crystal clear.

Rhule likes to develop lines? Okay, now we see if that is bs or not because ours got their asses kicked today.

This loss is on you!

This loss is on you, Husker fans. One week ago, we found ourselves gloating at the hilarious ineptitude of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ offense. We lacked the humility to understand, we might be the worst team in P5.

Now, one week later, we see the longest no-shutout streak in the Big Ten crumble before our eyes. That’s 27 years of at least a field goal, gone! Because you couldn’t keep your glee at Iowa’s peril to yourselves. You!
