OT: Mountain West Announces Football Scheduling Agreement With Oregon State and Washington State

COLORADO SPRINGS, Co. – The Mountain West Conference announced today a football scheduling agreement for the 2024 season between the Mountain West, Oregon State University, Washington State University, and the Pac-12 Conference.

Next season, all 12 MW teams will play seven traditional Conference football games in addition to one contest against either Washington State or Oregon State for a total of eight games (four home and four away). The games against OSU and WSU will not count toward the conference standings, and neither Pac-12 school is eligible for the MW championship game. The Mountain West is currently working on the football schedule and will release matchups soon.

Holy Cross QB - Matthew Sluka

My pick for an attainable QB for Nebraska to target > Matthew Sluka from Holy Cross.

Will Howard is still my #1, but highly doubt he has interest in NU

On3 NIL Predicted Value: $300k

6'3" 216 Lbs

Only 3 fumbles all of 2023.

Last two seasons combined, he had 46 TDs, 9 INTS passing.
In 2023 alone, he rushed for 1,247 yards and 9 TDs.

He had a 20+ yard reception last year. A solo tackle AND a 44 yard punt this year on top of the passing and running. I will say.... This guy is a gamer and quite the sh*t-talker. lol.
Holy Cross finished 7-4 (lost to BC by 3 and Army by 3, which are FBS, then Harvard by 10). Seems like their defense kind of struggled all year.

Nebraska running backs coach is already following him on Twitter ( or X ).

Sam Leavitt

Sounds like there is some mutual interest here. He played in 4 games at MSU this year and will still have 4 years of eligibility left. Coming out of HS: On3 had Leavitt ranked No. 7 among QBs and No. 76 among all players nationally. 247 had him as a 4-star, No. 17 QB, and Rivals had him 3-stars, No. 29. That's quite a range. Here's his senior year Hudl highlights.

I think this would be a great backfill for missing on QB last year. But I would also like to see us go after an immediate impact guy too.

Recruiting Where Nebraska's coaches are recruiting tomorrow including Tony White [12/1 UPDATE]

Made some calls today since coaches can hit the road tomorrow. Here is what I've gathered so far. Matt Rhule does not plan to go out this weekend.

Tony White and Terrance Knighton: Omaha North
Ed Foley: Bellevue West
Josh Martin: Papillion La-Vista South

Others will be out and when I find out, I'll update.

**12/1 Update**

First update is a big one. Offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield will be at Algona High School today to see Alex Manske. Remember that another priority target, defensive end Jack Limbaugh is also at that school.

Nebrasketball predicted as a 10 seed in the NCAA tourney

Huskers going dancing this year

First projection is out and it falls in line with what I have seen through our undefeated start.

Mast - Perfect replacement for Derrick Walker. Any concerns whether we could find a big man that could replicate Walker's post skills and passing abilities have been completely allayed. Also rebounding at an excellent level. Good basketball IQ just like Walker. Also a threat from 3.

Bryce Williams - Great replacement for Griesel. Seems to play bigger than his size and also seems to shoot the ball better than Griesel. Can put up some points.

Josiah Allick - Very athletic big man that plays with high energy. Huge difference from some of the other big men we've seen over the past couple years. Could have started for the Nebraska football team at several positions this year.

Keisei and JL - We already know what these two bring to the table. Keisei coming off a perfect shooting game across the board scoring 17 points on 5 shot attempts. Only saw the extended highlights from the game, but he was playing some of his best ball moving the ball around and being very patient with his shots.

Bench: Wilcher looking to imitate Keisei's role off the bench and has looked good thus far. Gary is a force coming off the bench and looks to have improved his 3-point shooting. Not sure if this is something he can keep up as he bounced one off the top of the backboard last game, but if he can shoot 33%+ it would be huge for the bench scoring. Coleman appears to be playing more of a facilitator role, but he has dropped some dimes out there. And then we have Sam Hoiberg. A real Wes Welker type: Lunch pail, coach's son, another QB on the field, etc. Not your prototypical 3-and-D guy in terms of size but he loves to lock in defensively and can punish you from 3.

Gotta love what you see out there, especially when you look at Creighton failing to score 50 points against Colorado State while getting blown out by 20+ to the Rams. Time to put the Blue vests in the closet right next to where Derrick Walker stuffed Kalkbrenner last year in the Huskers win over the Bluejays on their home court.

Option football and running quarterback

Should Nebraska consider going back to an offense that runs more option football. While at times it looked ugly this year all of Nebraska's wins was with Heinrich at quarterback.

I believe Nebraska could get the top running quarterback. Obviously the passing needs to improve along with the ability to pitch the ball. I think option football is Nebraska's best chance to become very good again. GBR

Tony White actually has a contract buyout to pay if he leaves Nebraska (under certain circumstances)

According to Mitch Sherman this provision is in the contract:

White’s contract calls for him to pay 100 percent of his remaining salary in liquidated damages if he resigns to accept a position in coaching other than head coach at a Big Ten program, a program in the process of joining the Big Ten or a school within 250 miles of Lincoln.

I think the only FBS schools in that circle are Iowa St, Kansas & K-St. There may be some smaller FCS or other schools in that circle, but probably none who can beat $1.6M a year. Yes, a bigger school outside the circle would be willing to eat the cost, but it would definitely be a deterrent to a Group of 5 school looking for a head coach. So White must be looking for a Power 5 job or he'll just stay at Nebraska.

I can't remember if I've ever seen an assistant coach with this kind of buyout if he leaves.

Volleyball No. 1 seed Huskers play with their food a bit but still cruise past LIU, into RD 2 NCAA Tourney matchup against Missouri

Game story from tonight's sweep as the No. 1 overall seed Huskers (29-1) dominated the first two sets but trailed nearly the entire third set before a 9-3 run closed it out. Nebraska has been wont to do that throughout the year – either look fantastic early or fantastic late but either limp late or limp out of the game.

Either way, the Huskers set themselves up with a second-round date against the 8 seed in its quarter, Missouri (18-12), at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

Looking for a couple Nebraska / Creighton Tix

Hi All -

I'm back in Lincoln due to the passing of my father. I have yet to attend a basketball game at Pinnacle and am hoping to take my brother to the Creighton game on Sunday. Thought I'd just ask on the board if anyone's got a 2 or 3 good seats of the game. I've been offered some nose bleeders, but thought I'd ask around for somethings that doesn't require binoculars. :)

Thanks and GBR!
Aaron

Post 2023 deer season (pre-muzzleloder)

Alright so I've talked to a lot of people, read a lot of threads, and have come to a conclusion that I'm about 99% sure is accurate... we now have the lowest deer population in my 30 year deer hunting career. And the bucks... its even worse.

Didn't see an adult buck the whole rifle season, passed on the one I saw during bow. Seen about 1/4 the total numbers as I did just 2-3 years ago.

Filled a doe tag but really concerned for the future of our states deer management given our current state. We are bottomed out (I hope) so drastic measures are needed.

Not about pointing fingers but changes are needed to rebound the population.

OT: OMG Documentary, “American murder, the family next door”…

WTF... documentary about Chris Watts and his family. Almost parallels my family exactly…Newly married, beautiful kids, good job, new home in Denver Colorado subdivision (about a mile from our first new home). Dude literally had the American dream many would kill for (no pun intended).

Holy shit…this is going to haunt me...how does a man/husband/father do this shit? As evil as it gets. How is he not on death row?

Sorry for the rant…just watched and had to vent.
