Volleyball Game Thread ***FINAL: #2 Nebraska SWEEPS #7 Wisconsin, first win in Madison in 11 years

***UPDATE***

There it is!

FINAL: #2 Nebraska SWEEPS #7 Wisconsin (25-21, 25-22, 25-19) on the road. Incredible.

The Huskers (21-1 overall, 11-0 Big Ten) win in Madison for the first time in 11 YEARS as they sweep the Badgers (15-5, 9-2) in a Top 10 national showdown.

Will Nebraska be ranked No. 1 in the country on Monday? Certainly will be under consideration. But Pittsburgh (51 first-place votes in latest Top 25) swept Virginia tonight and will certainly beat Virginia Tech (7-14) on Sunday just like Nebraska (9 first-place votes) will certainly beat Northwestern on Sunday.

So...we'll see!

Big one coming up tonight, boys and girls. I'll re-title this later today to make it the live game thread. But, for now, some updates from the Husker VB account + presser videos of John Cook, Andi Jackson and Bergen Reilly previewing the Nebraska-Wisconsin showdown are all ITT.

Hope the offense breaks out today

Hope this is the game were that last block is made, just that last little bit of execution that has been needed finally happens and the offense breaks out and looks good. Raiola hasn't had a great game, maybe today is the day, 300 yards, multiple TDs, 100 yard WR, 200 yards rushing from the RBs. Sure would take some pressure of the defense and help set up these last 4 games to be wins.

Football Hartzog likely out this week for UCLA game

According to Matt Rhule, starting DB Malcolm Hartzog Jr. will likely miss the UCLA game with a hamstring injury he sustained late in the game at Ohio State.

"Malcolm's doing his best to get back but I don't think that he will."

Rhule said he's still not sure if Tommi Hill will be able to play. He didn't practice Tuesday, practiced "a little bit" on Wednesday.

Big week for redshirt freshman Jeremiah Charles, who backed up Hartzog at corner against the Buckeyes.

"We're planning on Jeremiah to start," Rhule said.

Quinn Baily, Running Back Chadron, Nebraska #4 Yardage leader in Max Preps...

Quinn Baily, Running Back Chadron, Nebraska #4 national yardage leader in Max Preps 1 with 1700 yards. Why no publicity regarding this young man with regard to Husker interest? Quinn Bailey is a 5'8" RB in the 2025 class. Don't overlook him because of his size. Don't "Danny Woodhead" the young man!
Friday Night...Bailey ended the night with 226 yards on 17 carries unofficially with five touchdowns.

The Offense: 2023 vs 2024

Haarberg started 8 games for us last year, but really only played 7 since he went out so early against Maryland.
DR has started 8 games for us this year.

here's how they and the offenses compare:

HH - 49% completions, 1,444 total yards, 11 total TDs, 6 INTs (7 games)
DR - 66.1% completions, 1,686 total yards, 9 total TDs, 7 INTs (8 games)

the offense is averaging 24ppg compared to 22ppg last year during HH's starts
the offense is averaging 358ypg compared to 317ypg last year during HH's starts

pretty similar numbers. by far the biggest improvement is in fumbles lost, but that really hasn't translated to more points.

W/L record is the same.

I was pretty surprised to see how similar our production has been this year compared to last year's ragtag bunch.

Football Three Pressing Questions for Marcus Satterfield, NU offense over final four games

Three Pressing Questions from Satterfield's weekly media availability:

>> Why so many screen passes against Ohio State, and what does the offense need to do over the final four regular-season games?
>> Will Thomas Fidone continue to be more involved in the pass game? I've got some numbies and data to walk through.
>> Will Big Ten officials learn how to spot the ball correctly before Saturday (and ON Saturday)? What if they knew how to spot the ball correctly during the Nebraska-Ohio State game?
